You control the bolstering from within the middle screen not the buttons on the side of the seat. They are there and tuck you in very well (at least they are here in the Australia spec car).

I just traded in my 2021 SQ8 for 2022 RS Q8 and there is a noticeable difference in performance and handling. I did order every option available for the RS Q8. The vehicle handles the road so well you don’t realize how fast you’re going, be careful or you might be get a speeding ticket.

I am almost certain they got the message on the excessive use of touch screens. The new e-tron gt has actual buttons again.

Yep. A great mix of a touch screen (not capacitive buttons as far as I'm aware), and good old-fashioned knobs and buttons.

Yet another excellent review. Audi’s infotainment UX reached its zenith with the combo control dial/writing pad from the previous generation of most of their model range. Fortunately it’s still available on the R8 and TTRS but it looks like those models are now very much on the way out altogether.

Question - before test driving, do you set tire pressures? And do you use pressures marked on the door or your own specs? And what were the pressures for your test drive on this heavy car with 23" tires?? Also - Runflats?

I really don’t get the issue with the screen controls. I guess I don’t fiddle with them enough. I set the climate temp to Auto and let it do it’s thing. I don’t change the ride control that much. Most other commonly used functions are controllable from the steering wheel. Other than the screens being fingerprint magnets, I prefer this layout over a bunch of random buttons.

As much as I love touchscreens, I agree they can be a hazard. 1 thought to mitigate lack of hard dedicated static buttons is to have buttons with mini displays on them, similar to the AMG drive selectors on the steering wheel. Have a small bank of context aware buttons with displays on them.

Just test drove this today, and was shocked how different it was from the Lamborghini Urus. Even though it's touted as Audi's version of the Lambo, it felt strangely short on sport and drama. No exhaust pops and bangs, no exciting engine sounds, just felt like a very fast and luxurious tanker. I'll start saving the extra $100k to get the Urus instead, or just get the SQ8.

How is something like airbags still an optional thing either via customer choice or legally? "We ran into some supplier issues, so the first run of vehicles won't have ABS". If it doesn't have safety parts it's supposed to, it doesn't launch nor can it be sold until it does is my thinking.

What a beautiful vehicle. Thanks for the informative review. Do you know why Audi does not provide for "auto hold" and rear fog lights in U.S. versions of their vehicles? Other parts of the world get it. Does not seem to be U.S. regulations issues as other manufacturers provide these features in the U.S. I use the auto hold in my BMW constantly and love it.

Your wish for Audi global might have been heard. If you look at the new Audi RS e-tron GT, look at the climate control....hard buttons for the climate with no large screen. They left the screen for Nav and car set up and also entertainment. Check it out and hoping that the next generation has this set up as it makes it perfect.

Which one would you take: Audi RSQ8, X5M Competition, AMG GLE63s, Cayenne Turbo?
@trevorirwin39574 жыл бұрын
I recently compared them all. Went with the RSQ8, it really is a car that can cruise along nicely (and in comfort) or flog the life out of it and everything in between. The others you mention don’t cover the same range of duties. (Cayenne Turbo is closest but it prices itself out when you tick all of the options that the RSQ8 has).
@DBrealmadrid96064 жыл бұрын
@@trevorirwin3957 could you please elaborate on your experience? I am currently looking for some lightly used versions of all of the cars in this segment and would greatly appreciate the inputs of those who were able to test them and formulate objective viewpoints without me having to depend on journalists who generally aren’t as objective.
@trevorirwin39574 жыл бұрын
@@DBrealmadrid9606 I felt that the BMW X6M and the Mercedes GLE63s were very one dimensional. By that I mean that they only did the ‘ultra sporty SUV’ thing and nothing else. The RSQ8 and the Cayenne Turbo both did the ultra sporty suv thing but could also be a normal suv (Ie: comfortable, relaxing, etc). The Audi won me over for two main reasons (I’ve owned 7 Porsches (currently also own a 2018 Panamera Turbo) so am a little biased towards Porsche). 1) It matched or bettered the Cayenne at pretty much everything but was considerably cheaper when you option the Cayenne to match the RSQ8 2) Styling. It is better looking (to me) and a bit bigger than the Cayenne.
@DBrealmadrid96064 жыл бұрын
@@trevorirwin3957 ironically enough, i am also considering a Panamera. I have been told that the Panamera’s main rivals (AMG GT 4dr & BMW 8er) aren’t simply as refined, luxurious, confidence-inspiring...etc Bear in mind that i have not personally been in any of these aforementioned cars so I would also like to view your opinion on this particular matter. Which is even more beneficial to me considering that you are an owner of a Panamera. So you could take about interior quality, driving dynamics...etc By the way, I appreciate you taking the time for this.
@trevorirwin39574 жыл бұрын
@@DBrealmadrid9606 I can’t really compare the Panamera Turbo to the others as I didn’t drive them. This is my third Panamera and I love it. I’ve had 911s before (just sold a 991.2 C2S) but always end up back in the Pana. The performance, handling, build quality (aside occasional software glitches (nothing major just CarPlay won’t work for some reason and I need to plug in again)) are all fantastic. I have heard great things about the AMG GT though.
