Do you know why my MMI system "forgets" my MMI login details whenever CarPlay is activated? With the phone unplugged all my details are remembered, including favourite destinations. Once the phone is plugged in, it asks me to log in again. Highly frustrating.

One step you forgot- right after you connect your car and phone to BT, click the BT “info” button for the Audi and “show notifications” in order to get texts and Siri-enabled read/responses. (6:27 see the button).

I just got a new Q5 2021 S-Line today and I've been trying to connect my 12 Pro Max Carplay wirelessly (it connects via cable fine) but MMI says only via cable connection although there was a prompt on my phone to connect wirelessly and the icon of my phone says CarPlay on MMI but it's greyed out. When i test drove the Q5 (Luxury) i was able to connect CarPlay wirelessly with no issues. The dealer said some models came with no Wireless Carplay but this doesn't seem to be the case because the user manual says i should be able to connect wirelessly. Any thoughts on this?

Carplay navigation (Apple, google, Waze) unfortunately will not come through to the virtual cockpit and only comes up on the center touch screen. Maybe one day they will allow it to show up in the virtual cockpit!

@@lastminuteonearth You can at least on VW Tiguan with same screen setup. Its funny when google maps app from phone tells you turn right and car`s nav ( also using google maps ) tells you to turn left at the same intersection. Anyways its just a fault of algoythm , same maps diferent algorythms - phone app is just the best . I checked it comparing those two in this VW Tiguan, always followed google maps from phone and 90% times it had better routes, faster and also nice shorcuts that average Joe wouldnt know about drving in not their citys.

The current gen A3/s3/rs3 does not have built in wireless Carplay. You have to plug into the USB ports. You can try purchasing a wireless adapter but they can be alittle glitchy and unreliable from what I’ve been told.

I just got a 2020 s5 Prestige, I follow the steps and no matter what I try still get the “connect via USB” message when clicking Apple CarPlay. Is there any other way to just play Spotify or Amazon prime via Mmi and no cords?

Jared Akers congrats on the purchase. Did you try pairing your phone with Bluetooth first and then the system asks if you want to activate wireless Carplay? There is also a chance the 2020 B9 cars (A4,A5,S4,S5,) might not have wireless Carplay even tho they have the new touch screen, I have yet to confirm this. That being said yes you can use Bluetooth Audio which is in the media modes to stream any audio source wirelessly from your device.

safar Sultan I am reading that the wireless CarPlay is not available in all countries, are you in America? I don’t know the list of all supporting countries but in America it should definitely work. You need to make sure both your WiFi and Bluetooth are on and active on your iPhone. Try deleting the phone from the car and deleting the car from the phone and redoing the setup with both WiFi and Bluetooth on. If it doesn’t work again go to your Bluetooth menu on your iPhone and click on the Audi and see if there is a carplay setting to be selected. Hope this helps!

I don't think they have updated the a3 yet. If it still has the rotary selector instead of the touch screen I don't think it has it. A4 just got it this year with the refresh that dropped the rotary for the touch screen

If you are not paying for Audi connect the in car wifi will not have any internet access. Please find that network in your phone wifi settings and either deselect auto join or click forget network! Hope this helps!

You have to swipe down from the top of the screen. Click on the connection manager and then press down and hold on the square tiles that represent each phone. There will be an option to delete the device.

Mini Eggs Unfortunately it will not. If a route guidance is active in the apple CarPlay system (Apple maps, google maps. Waze) the navigation mode in the virtual cockpit is disabled and turns into a digital compass until the route is either finished or canceled.

Robert De Ieso you had it on the 7? As far as I’m aware, our 7 was from just before it became an option so I can’t confirm but the Audi A6 does not have wireless Apple car play now any modern VW’s. I believe it firstly requires the vehicle to have its own internet connection, so as the A6 does as standard with its in built sim but there is something stopping it from being enabled in the UK. I was under the impression it’s not been approved for use yet. Very unlikely that VW group would not allow this bearing in mind CarPlay is standard on even a VW golf, I did expect the A6 to have it though. Not much of an issue for me as I always charge my phone and use CarPlay, wireless charging is slow as hell and creates unnecessary heat, can’t be too good for the batteries. It would be a popular feather though for others, I’m sure. What year was the 7 series by the way? I assume those form 2017 onwards were getting the option or maybe even later. Pretty ridiculous though that they charged for it given it should be a no cost option, then again they make you pay for ACC and autonomous Emergency braking, all standard on a VW Golf. Audi’s quality on the new A6 though is appalling, I will 100% say that the Audi A3 has better build quality.

William Liu it’s very very very good but by removing the mmi knob they used to use they made it a lot harder to use while actually driving. Therefore I believe BMW currently has the best infotainment due to having both a touchscreen and a knob!

MMI? Wow, when are Lefties going to boycott Audi for using that term? I don't think I've called a User Interface (UI) a "MMI" since the 1990's. And not because I am woke, i'm not, it is just such an old term to use. The term MMI is probably from the 1960's. Besides, the average person does not call things "machine" anymore. I'd say "device" is more timely. But UI is more appropriate and the implication is it is a device that has the User Interface. What sounds more current... "International Business Machines" or "IBM"? Heck, the prior sounds like they are selling devices competing with Smith Corona word processing units. Then add the gender specificness of it and you really have a term that is so out-of-date. And no, I did not dislike this. Just stating facts. But if someone were to dislike (I noticed someone below stated that people who dislike this video must be jelly (jealous), I could give you a few reasons why they would hit dislike. First, you mentioned wireless charging and glass backs. The implication is that only glass back phones wirelessly charge and that isn't true but probably just a one shot video thing that wasn't planned, I get it. Second, you could have been more informative as to here's how you do the "one time" connections/setup and then get into the car again and show what the experience is after initial setup as some people, there are many, who don't understand technology, will think you have to manually connect every time. I know you did state, "once you enable your phone with Bluetooth" but that doesn't sound anything like, "once you setup up the initial Bluetooth connection between your phone and the vehicle's head unit" so a little confusing. Also, you stated "obsolete" as opposed to "unnecessary", again, confusing. I get it but i'm sure some people out there are confused. Third, I don't think you made it clear why you would want to use the car "MMI" once you have carplay set up. I mean, carplay has the Apple message app and phone app available within it. Why or when is the vehicle "MMI" needed over what is available in carplay? I honestly don't know so that's why i am asking. I thought it was a good video overall. Just pointing out some things I observed. It is not easy making videos by yourself with a phone camera especially with one shot and no editing. I get it.

@@CarTechConnect Well, the initials match Man Machine Interface which pre-dates it Audi's thing. www.businessdictionary.com/definition/man-machine-interface.html and happens to be the exact same thing as their "product", i.e. an interface between humans and "machine" so, I guess we'll allow them to use it. ;) Only Americans have to watch everything they say or do. Not the Germans, Japanese, Koreans or Chinese, we have never considered, ever, boycotting their products because of the things they do/did. Just not how it works. I mean Toyota had a dealership in California in 1957 (and didn't immediately go out of business though a decade earlier it was supposed to live in infamy.)
