i don't think that comparison makes sense. Festivals have very few awards, no nominations and a tiny, pre-selected pool of films to award from.
@CDCPH5823 жыл бұрын
@@pb.j.1753 "Festivals have very few award." The Big Three literally have more awards each than the Oscars Go check it. You're probably referring to "categories." The Oscars awards by "technical categories" i.e. cinematography, editing etc. while the festivals for the most part award "by section," in which they categorize the entries. "no nominations and a tiny, pre-selected pool of films to award from." Isn't that what "nomination" is all about? You "pre-select a pool of films"? Again, you're probably referring to WHO determines the nominations/pre-selected pool. At the Oscars, it is its thousands of members, whereas the festivals have a smaller number of jury. Anyway, by "the bafta looking more like the BIg 3," what I meant was in the diversity both in 1) type of films (i.e. Oscars for the most part usually leans toward box office/commercial films or 'Hollywood'/American films, whereas festivals favor art films, genre-specific films, and non-commercial films.) 2) countries of origin (the festivals welcome foreign films from all over the world that are free to compete in all their "sections", whereas at the Oscars, while foreign films are free to compete in their categories, we never see foreign films dominating each category.)

So what Supporting Actor having 2 available spots open, do you think if Minari overperforms that Alan Kim could be nominated at the Oscars

"Do the British like you?" I love Brother Bros ending questions. Also after the WGA it was "What do YOU think WGA stands for?" They are so simple yet hilarious every time

Thank you for the good dosis of screaming during this video. I needed that.

So literally, look at the four acting categories...it’s like two slots are reserved for white performers, three slots are reserved for people of color and/or other than English speaking, and one slot reserved for a Brit. It’s like that almost across the board. So I guess Vanessa Kirby filled the Brit quota on Best Actress so they snubbed Mulligan, one of the other Brits in supporting took Olivia Colman’s spot. It’s really odd the way it worked out. It’s almost like they were instructed that it had to be this way. Diverse art is great. Art to fill a quota is not.

Naww now you know how POC feel when they use those "quota" systems.
@MyNextShotWontMiss3 жыл бұрын
@@dangerislander Who are "they"? POC? Person of colour? What are these "quota sytstems" and where are they being used? England has a small BAME minority still, though with insane immigration laws, that's quickly changing. Previously, ofc English people were more likely to win because there were far more English actors. No one was giving them awards because of quotas. I don't think any real actor would want an award based on their skin tone instead of their acting.

Bafta nominations are... diferent this year. Crtics' Choice were awesome The Golden Globes only wanted to shock The only real competence for Carey were Viola, Vanessa and Frances, that category is between them and perhaps Radha

This won't affect the Oscar nominations one whit because Oscar voters turn in their nomination ballots tomorrow (if they haven't already) so this BAFTA wackiness definitely will not, even remotely, be repeated.
@sudevsen3 жыл бұрын
The Baftas are now far more interesting than the US races now cause there will be a different set of winners hopefully. The US races seems all tied up apart from 2 Actress awards. Nomadland/Biseman/Kahlua sweeping everything makes for a boring season so the Baftas look like fun.

CAN WE ALL AGREE THAT BAFTA’S VOTERS WERE HIGH THIS SEASON
