I just picked mine up a few weeks ago (also ordered last October). I’ve taken it out a couple weekends. I agree: 1. Cushions in the front dinette are a little annoying. They don’t fit nice enough below the bench. 2. It is a little too dark because of tinted windows. I need all the lights on even in the middle of a sunny day. 3. Needs a foldout table on side of kitchen. Counter space is not enough. I might try to install myself. Overall though, I love it! So functional and fits my needs. Can’t wait to take out to more remote off-the-beaten path places.
@DoesSizeMatter3 жыл бұрын
Wow that's exciting. We are glad to hear you love your's. Also it's a bummer about the cushions and I was worried about the darkness as using the lights is going to be a drain on your electric and putting in a folding counter would be a great idea. Let us know how that goes. We love hearing from owners about your experiences so thanks for sharing and for watching

Great review !! You guys are always the best. I loved the layout of the two living areas. I loved the kitchen. I didn't like so much the unusual upper rail storage systems, the windowless dark back living area, the difficult bed-making, the dark plexi doors on the cabinets (they take up storage room because they are not flush with sides of the openings), and, as you pointed out, the awkward window opening devices. Thank you all so much for the detailed & honest review !!

This is the trailer that initially piqued my interest in RVs and started my search. I watched A LOT of your videos before I pulled the trigger, and I ended up going with a Nucamp T@B 400BD. Watching this video now, I’m really glad I did! I love the look and solid build of Airstreams, but Nucamp seems to make a much smarter use of space, which allowed me to feel comfortable going with something smaller than 20ft. Also, for the price, I think the Basecamp should include more conveniences/comforts like the Nautilus water system and Alde heating, which really sealed the deal for me on the T@B. The only thing this one has that I wish I had is an enclosed and heated underbelly, but that can always come later if I feel I really need it. :) If y’all are ever down in Texas, give me a shout!
@DoesSizeMatter3 жыл бұрын
So cool to hear you have been watching and ended up picking the right one for you. That's what its all about for us. The Basecamp is nice but getting the right one with all the right systems for what you need is the nicest. Now you are out there enjoying and being happy with your purchase. We love that. One day we will be back in Texas and we will let you know if you are following along IG and our community tab on YT, those are the best places for us to reach out to folks. We'd love to meet you. This was a super helpful review. Wasn’t sure between the rugged Basecamp 20 X and some of the more luxurious Airstream Trailers. Love the clearance, but the darkness and inability to open everything to the outside might bother me. Love the back door. Your knowledge and comparisons are value added for your reviews. My thanks.

Great walk through guys. This is a love / hate for me. Pros and cons 😉. I'm not crazy about all the open hammock style storage. Cargo capacity is a problem, and the long storage ( 3 tiered) area would of made a decent closet. Love the functionality though. Fantastic set up for the younger outdoor geared customer.
@DoesSizeMatter3 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it and we hear you on all of that. We like your idea about the closet that would have made the storage more versatile. You are right it is a specific type of rv for a specific buyer. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching.

What a great reviews! We considered a Basecamp but agree, just way to dark inside for my liking. Not a fan of the cargo net storage either but the 20 does compensate with a good amount of storage. Nice wet bath, really like the large window. We have a AS Nest and it’s just so much brighter inside.

I don’t like where the microwave is & fridge is too small, no countertop, don’t like wet baths & no sink! Why those weird doors?
@ldd96723 жыл бұрын
I have commented before that the basecamp needs a sink in the bathroom. But after using a safari alto 21 ft (wet bath with sink) this summer I have change my mind. If we bought a small trailer with a wet bath I would not want a sink in it. The Alto we use had one, it was so small it was basically useless imo. Even though very very small it took up room when trying to shower. Brushing ur teeth or hand washing in a small sink…water ends up everywhere. If u but a larger sink in there even more of a squeeze when showering. If I had one of these awesome basecamps I would use the kitchen sink for hand washing and teeth brushing. Then Id use a plastic insert in the sink and fill it when doing dishes. Thanks for the video 👍
@DoesSizeMatter3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. We still want a sink in the bathroom because when boondocking we only do dishes 1x/day and they pile up in the sink making handwashing impossible but the beauty of RVs is that there are enough choices out there to suit everyone's wants, needs and priorities. We love that and trying one out this summer helped you clarify those and that is fantastic. Thanks for hanging out with us.

Yes and they are very effective window coverings and they do suit the style of the trailer. Have the feeling in this day in age you can’t have anything without someone hating . Appreciating the engineering and time involved in building rvs, cars, planes etc , doesn’t exist I guess ? And because you drive or can afford a flashy item makes you egotistical? What is this world coming to ?!
@DoesSizeMatter3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewm2095 We agree. The engineering is significant and it was done a long time ago. The history of Airstream is also a wonderful story and no matter what it is an iconic brand. We believe that what defines someone as egotistical is not the item or price of the item but how the owner presents him/herself while using/enjoying it. If you enjoy and love your Airstream then that means you got the right RV for you and that's all that matters.
