so glad so many corps took the "not normally competitively strong, but fun" approach to show design this year. i don't know if this would have flown in a regular season, but it seems so gosh darn fun to perform.
@danielapollo3 жыл бұрын
well, I think this could work in a regular season with a stronger writing.

It even seems they perfom more musically easier for the audience to listen to. A thing to consider in DCI in my opinion - have the competitive game gone to a level that are almost absent on crowdpleasing?

I favor a shift to a focus more on playing for the audience vs. going for the best judging outcome. Agree some of the shows this year are so great and make me FEEL great which is what music is about, right? Hoping corps learn something from this year and incorporate some of the learnings from 2021 going forward.

It made all the shows fun to watch as well. I hope they take this approach next year even tho its a competitive year. Probably wont happen, but we will see

Hopefully Flomarching is done stunting the growth of the marching arts by privatizing the ability to watch dci shows, or even for people to be able to have a video of their own show. I’m still not a fan but I’m glad you guys have started taking steps in the right direction, please continue.

Leonard Bernstein was famous for writing innovative musicals like "Candide" and "West Side Story". I often wonder how he would critique the current DCI "full style" drum corps genre.I see these vast musical productions as, "Broadway On A Football Grid".
