All the best to Mike for his recovery and I hope he isn't in too much pain. It's a great bike. I took a demo out on the lowered adventure and could get my feet down no problem. I'm 5'10" with only a 27" inside leg so I struggle with many regular newer bikes these days.

You are right Kate, small riders should not be intimidated by the gs/a. At 5ˋ7, i ordered a lowered model, set suspension to minimal, lowered seat ( here too you can get the seat even lower by putting in smaller sprockets (Wünderlich) under the seat replacing the originals. I just love this bike, even after dropping it my first day out (crashbars absolutely necessary!). After this initial humiliation, i did enduro training (highly recommended) and did fall again in deep sand!, but the instructor said 90% of us would fall on that day, he lied , 100% 😅did. Nonetheless, this is my best bike ever and handles better than most smaller bikes that I had. And soo comfortable, i can sit on this thing all day long. If your short and contemplating about getting this bike , try it , you will not regret it! Ride safe mates!

My husband has a 2019 GSA. I'm 5'2 (1,58m). Even with a seat hight of 800mm, I really don't think I would handle that bike 😉 I know some very small women do. I have the utmost respect for Jocelin snow 👍. However, it becomes very technical and tiring to handle such a bike at all times when you are really small. And there's not only the hight... The handlebar is also made for tall people. The whole ergonomics of the bike are made for tall people. 😉 Well, maybe I'm just too lazy 😂😂

Thankyou Kate, most people say how tall they are but you actually told us your inside leg, which is the same as me 29" and I'm 5.8. I test rode a GSA which was just put on low suspension standard seat and I managed very well. I was so surprised how the damn thing handled like on rails around corners. I went fron Falmouth Motorrad to the Lizard point in Cornwall and back, sat and had a pasty and can of coke admiring the bike. I'll get one but have to wait as in the past year and half I've spent out on a new Versys 1000se gt, top heavy as anything and in March got a new Ninja 1000sx which I've had to ditch my topbox as this is the only bike that has every had suspension issues with a topbox. So roll on when I've saved enough to trade again. Lookong at next march. Question is do I go for the GSA or GS. Love your vids love you:-)

If a guy with a 28 inch leg can ride a GSA at full height then it’s doable for taller people. I do it daily. The keys to success is to get very good at your low speed maneuvers including the no foot down stops. Learn your techniques for one foot down stops, get comfortable with sliding your rear to one side when you put a foot down. Whether you can ride a bike or not is all about two things, comfort and confidence. Mastering skills breed confidence like bunny rabbits.
@michaelmclarney19943 жыл бұрын
My biggest problem is getting on as the arthritis is making my knee, hip and back stiff. If I can cover the brake and get the left foot flat I'm happy, otherwise it only takes a bit of a camber to make things tricky.
@hurt17042 жыл бұрын
How do you ride it off road? If you have to put your feet down on uneven surfaces, you’re probably going down. Why be uncomfortable if you don’t have to be?
@PetrolJunkie2 жыл бұрын
@@hurt1704 I'm perfectly comfortable with riding the bike. I don't have the mindset that I have to be able to get a foot flat on the ground to feel safe, let alone both of them. The need to flat foot a motorcycle is pure insecurity and a lack of confidence in your skills. Practice, and get the skills down to muscle memory. Little kids use the one foot down method, an adult can do it. There are literally a hundred different ways to solve that problem from dismounting to leaning the ned of your grip against a tree. Most important is learning to slide your rear end over a second or two before you stop to get a leg down, and not putting your foot down on the low side. I can comfortably stop with one leg hooked over the seat at the knee and still take off, but that's usually when I'll just dismount and hop back on when I want to take off. "Comfort" is subjective. Just because YOU aren't comfortable doesn't mean everyone else is uncomfortable as well. Always work on your skills. There isn't anything you can't ride if you have skills.

@@PetrolJunkie I have been riding my whole life dirt bikes and motorcycles and packing. A passenger, luggage, and tippy toeing on off-road terrain isn’t ideal on any stretch. Can you do it? Sure, but it’s not ideal.
@PetrolJunkie2 жыл бұрын
@@hurt1704 Ideal is subjective. While you worry about getting your foot down I'm going to go have fun bashing my motorcycle on some trails. I'm not worried about it at all. It doesn't matter what off-road motorcycle I ride it's always going to be one foot down for me. No point in complaining, no point in letting unreasonable fear create insecurity and damage my confidence. Just get on and ride. Do what needs to be done to make it happen. Polish skills, not excuses.
@Fernando90054 Жыл бұрын
To ride easy this GSA being a tall person may help to step down with the bike off. If it’s on, it matters less. What we have to manage well is throttle versus clutch and friction zone. This bike is so well made and designed that she will cooperate with you from the get go. When on irregular terrains since the weight is there, it’s important to have the bike balanced at all times. After the first days of living with one, confidence will build very fast due to the nobility of geometry and whole conception of the bike. It only feels heavy with the engine off. On the move is a lovely strong and easy coping machine.

The GSA is for me a huge bike compared to my GS from the looks of it... but then I felt the GS was big when i got it first. Now i feel it is manageable and quite easier to ride - and I'm sure it will feel even more easy to ride as i learn more about riding it - no I don't feel like I have learned it all from this season. And I'm so happy i decided to buy that GS and have been riding it pretty much every day as long as there is no ice on the road. I don't feel like riding when there is ice/snow on the road - at least not yet. What would I like to see Kate do on a bike? Well you said the GS/GSA is a very stable bike to ride - why not show that to us and maybe compare that to a 310GS or something totally different. Get one of your friends to ride and swop with them so we can see the difference. BTW: Blocked road should not be much of a problem for a GSA...you just got to ride thru or ride some more 🤣😘

Because I went to the Adventure over the GS I went to the Low chassis and found it the best all round bike I've ever had. The standard GS is even lower than the GSA -My 1250 GS TE with it's 800mm seat height is the 3rd factory lowered one I've had and at 5'7" with a 29" inseam it's fine for me👍

@@UsernameKate I test rode a standard height GS in 2015 before I bought my first and TBH I found it perfectly ok at 850mm, but after the test ride the dealer had a factory lowered one in the showroom that was waiting for a customer to collect it so I had a sit on it and decided to go for the factory lowered version instead because I was going to tour 2 up on it fully loaded and was glad I did as that couple of inches made all the difference😉

Hi Kate I have the identical same bike …..my question is about the seat ….I ordered mine with lowered suspension and saddle …my saddle is black …so has your bike got the standard seat rather than the low seat ??
@UsernameKate3 жыл бұрын
Standard seat on this 👍

Thanks Kate …. The colour of the seat is not important to me but it is very comfortable !!

Enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Ever ride that road from Rivington over, from memory, Belmont? That's a nice ride. Can I ask, is the handling any different on the low-chassis GS compared to the regular height one? Cheers from NZ.

Great bike I had exact same one so easy to ride your grandparents could ride them the bike will do everything well .for touring this is the best I've had most .but for a weekend blast or late evening the 1290r ktm adventure is number one with its aggressive ride keeping up with alot of road bikes bmw is better quality but 4500 new more .I'd never thought I'd say this but the gs 1250 is a cracking bike but if your looking for fast fun it's far away from the ktm .well done you ride it like a boss

Crackin review Kate. Next time I’m over I’ll try to book a test ride to see how it compares to my r1250r. Good to meet you again at the dealership recently and very impressed with the whole shebang and some great bikes in stock too. Anyway I digress 🤣. Thanks for the video keep em coming and go get mikes tea on!!! 😂😂

I didn’t want a reduced suspension height due to the roads we have so I made adjustments to get it as low as possible on my GS but I still need to be careful when stopping if the road has a camber.

Hi Kate can you tell me the size of the reduced height bike you are riding, I went into bmw in Manchester and they weren’t that interested in finding out for me.

That's where I work! That's disappointing, I'll have a look when I'm back in 👍
