Hey dude, I'm a 20 yo guy from Colombia who recently knew about BM and I've been wathching these kind of videos endlessly, videos like this, people like you, ideas, gifts and effort such as the bottle message only makes me more exciteed to grind and work to hopefully go to one in the next years, I truly am grateful for finding this and for your work sharing your experience. Pura vida.

Hi!! This is Judy from Tennessee and 2017 BM!! This video is so good for me! I was blessed to be your camp neighbor and I see you have the same tent and without your bestie. You have really curated your Burning Man skills…so creative. Me and Sean from Hawaii parted ways late last year after almost 6 years long distance - bittersweet. Rogue Burning Man calls me home. Thanks for this!

Hi Judy from Tennessee!!! I remember you for sure! Same tent for sure - Unfortunately Matt aka "Meech" couldn't make it out this year. Sorry to hear about you and Sean! Long distance is tough - six years is an impressive feat! If you want to go home next year let us know and we'll save you a spot!

Quality content! #liked Thank you for sharing your journey, process, and respectful burning dude attitude! Excellent edit, angles, and the message in a bottle 😻Yes! I don't know you, but I love you homie! ps... your end to end (virtual-experienced) message in a bottle cannot be taken from mind. Thanks for touching my heart with that one; I'm going to share the idea to my kids.

I really enjoyed your video. I've been going to the burn every year since 2007...but I didn't go 2021 and I regret it. You seem like a great person and it would be awesome to meet you on the playa someday. I'm sorry that someone stole your art piece. I am quite well versed with people stealing and vandalizing art and bikes at burning man. A sad commentary on human nature. You get to feeling that BM is unlike the real world and then suddenly someone fucks you. You seem like the type of person that can persevere through such things and I'm sure you did. Again, a well done, entertaining and informative video. Hope it all comes to fruition in 2022 and you continue to burn.

Loved this video! I got to experience my first burn in 2023 and it’s content like this that really warmed me up to attending ^_^ @TheOutspired How did you set up the Aluminet on your tent? I’m planning to get a 10x10 Kodiak canvas and trying to figure out a practical shade solution, and I really like the simplicity of your setup!

This is going to be my first burn. I have the same tent and I plan on using Aluminet as well. Did you use any additional poles for your set up - or just the ones from your tent?
@TheOutspired Жыл бұрын
Nice! I'm sure it will be a great experience! I highly recommend aluminet at least 70%. The one I used for this videos set up was a 2, 10'x20' No extra poles, I just didn't use the awning (it doesn't have enough coverage for that terrain), and used those poles. You will want to utilize tie downs and stakes (or lag bolts w/ an impact driver) so the poles stay up. Speaking of stakes - I would recommend abandoning all of the stakes provided with the kodiak tent- they are a nightmare to pull out of the playa - and swap with some 8"-10" lag bolts. The impact driver will make it easy to get out - trust me when you're ready to leave, the last thing you want to do is deal with digging out stakes or rebar. Enjoy!!!! burn bright!

You seem like a good dude. Sorry someone stole the message in a bottle. Looks like you had a good time though!!

what size of a shade tart is that? the one you have on top of your tent! i have the same tent and i like your set up!!
@TheOutspired Жыл бұрын
Thank you! For this set up I used 2, 10' x 20', 70% aluminet shade. Used the poles provided for the awning to extend the shade utilizing rope tie downs to keep the poles up right. I also highly recommend swapping all the tent stakes for 8"-10" lag bolts with an impact driver - it will save you so much time setting up and tearing down. I used zip ties to keep it all together. Burn bright!

Thanks for sharing your camp setup! Did the swamp cooler with car battery work well enough to sleep?
@TheOutspired3 жыл бұрын
Definitely! This year wasn't actually too hot so I could sleep till 9/9:30am before switching it on. I pointed it right at my feet so it cooled me down well to keep the zzz's going!
@R56Cooper3 жыл бұрын
@@TheOutspired wow that's great to hear! Does the swamp cooler really keep the camp setup cool? Also, how many hours are you able to run the swamp cooler from the car battery before running out of power? Thanks!
@TheOutspired3 жыл бұрын
@@R56Cooper That's a good question...I didn't need to recharge it but utilized it far less than hotter years. In previous years when I was there for the entire week I had a solar panel charging it just in case - but not sure that's necessary. Apologies that I can't answer more definitively. :(
@R56Cooper3 жыл бұрын
@@TheOutspiredwow very cool indeed! That's a great creative way of staying cool on the playa without bringing a generator-! Perhaps bringing two car batteries might remove the need for the solar...
@TheOutspired3 жыл бұрын
@@R56Cooper Agreed. I think two car batteries might be perfect! I think using it with a hexayurt would be even better.

Hi I'm not from the USA and I am planning to go to Burning Man 2024 despite the bad comments about the weather of this year (2023) But I want to ask this: If you get to Black Rock Desert before the event, can you be there without buying tickets??
@TheOutspired Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no. The event organizers are there months before and after the event, and the perimeter of the event is guarded by volunteers and law enforcement. No entry without a ticket. The only reason tickets weren’t necessary in 2020 and 2021 was because there was no official event due to the pandemic, but many folks decided to go out to the desert anyways. Now that the event is back, a ticket is required.

What impact driver do you use? How many battery charges do you need to put up the tent and take it down?
@TheOutspired2 жыл бұрын
I used the Makita LXDT04. I used just one battery to put up and take down the tent and shade structure, but I bring a spare just in case.

You mentioned burning man is not their no tickets so its free? What do you mean, so you dont have to pay for the tickets because your not in the main area or something?
@TheOutspired Жыл бұрын
This video was back in 2021. Burning Man was cancelled back then bc of the pandemic, but 30,000+ people decided to go anyways so there was no tickets that year. Burning Man (the org) returned in 2022. It's back to "normal" now.

I met maybe 10 first timers in my travels. No way of knowing the real #'s but I'd probably agree with you since it took significantly more self reliance than usual and seasoned Burners were likely drawn to the event more than someone unfamiliar with the terrain, elements, culture etc.
