Majorcraft is and has been the "standard" or so called the go to rod in my country's light game scene. Kuying Teton is a rod that's hard to come by and you actually have to import it from Malaysia or buy 2nd hand from anglers. With regards to your other reviews there is a light game combo that for under $200 usd Rod: Tsurinoya Elf Ajing 752 UL (84g) Reel: Daiwa Fuego CS LT 1000S-XH (185g) Line: Asso Super Ester line 2lbs Then some 2g jighead with a straight tail for lure. This introductory set-up isn't common and I haven't heard/seen anyone in my community other than me with this setup where first the reel is lit (thanks to your review) smooth though abused in saltwater conditions and rod is great where 100g trevallies feels like 5kg fishes. Try Ester lines, I think it'll level up for finesse fishing game. Currently using 1lb line and it's really fun. Have a nice day!

Awesome video again! Thank you. I have about 7 rods ranging from from mega bass to st.croix and the Shakespeare micro series. I have the most fun with the $20 cheap rod and never get skunked. I don’t think the fishes are rod snobs and only bite when you use expensive gear. The true goal is to have fun and enjoy gods gifts. Happy thanksgiving and keep making awesome videos like this.

Phenix iron feather 8ft rod very strong and extra fast action amazing rod but the price is a bit much lol around 400$ , in California we have our own style of fishing 7'6 and up to 10ft and we mini jig/micro jig 1/16 to 1/32nd on 2-4lb test...so we perfer a wobbly tip rod that's why phenix made the true " Ultralight " series its the best of the best phenix Dragonfly , Mirage , Iron Feather , Elixer top of the line for the type of fishing we do here in California for big trout ranging from 2lb to 9lb Trout

Yeah that Bass Pro Shops Air PTC or whatever they call it is a GREAT rod for so many reasons, the guides are bigger for one thing and the grip on the reel seat fits the hand well and prevents twisting of the rod while fighting fish. I’ve got that Shakespeare as well, 7’, and it’s nice to be climbing rocks on the bank of the Potomac without worrying about breaking it if I slip and fall. Thanks for doing REAL reviews!

I just found this video. But I’ve been fishing those micro series rods for years and I gotta say your opinion is spot on. I’ve been debating on trying some Acc’s or maybe a sam’s super sensitive or maybe the Leland’s TCB from Bn’M… and I just can’t justify spending the money as really don’t think I’ll be any happier with em than I am with the micro’s at 1/3 the cost. Appreciate your time in reviewing rods/ reels and value your opinion. Thanks for sharing!

Great job with reviews and comparisions! Which rod would you suggest for small and medium perch fishing? Most of those fishes are like 15-25cm long. I use 1g-1.5g cheburashka with 2.5-5cm soft lure (tanta, twister). I love eletric rods.. I love to feel delicate „tic” on the end of line instead watching line or tip of rod. I love light jigging. Please advise :) I own Shimano Expride 3-10g but it’s too stiff for that light fishing expect that I love how it is made and how it feels .. but there aren’t big enough perches for this rod ;) Tsurinoya Elf Ajing 2,26m 0,6-7g but in real its like 2g-10g, Azura Diablo 195cm 0.4-5g but in my opinion its more like 1.5g-8g …. still searching and loosing my mind ;) Mostly I fish from shore in small size lakes and depth is 1.5-2.5m

for these lures I would use Ultralight power rods. Like i said in the video, i don't have experience with many rods over 100$. The ones i recommended are out of stock everywhere. But sounds like you are in Europe, so u don't have our local brands. Any daiwa or shimano rod over 100$ will be fine as long as it is Ultralight power but i don't have experience with them. The Teton rod i recommended in this video would actually be perfect, but it was sold out after my video.

Have you had any experience with the pack-rod (4pc) version of the Presso rods compared to the two-piece? I have a 6'6" pack rod Presso as well as some two-piece airstreams and am wondering if I should try the 2pc Presso or maybe the Abu next.. I really like the idea of the St. Croix but it appears there are only 1pc versions of the Legend Elite. Are the regular Trout or Panfish rods even in the same ballpark as the Legend Elite, or not worth the premium?

I'm an ultralight guy myself. I owned a 7' Presso before I saw any of your videos. I gotta tell you, it is by far my favorite ultralight that I use. I got the Kage and the Panfish by St. Croix and Trout series, etc. None of my other rods cast as far. I never use a float. I swim my jigs. The softer tip is perfect, in my opinion, for the gentle hook sets needed for crappie fishing.

It's really difficult to identify the best rods as compared to reels, as you pointed out, so good on you for framing this video in that context. I always appreciate your perspective on gear. I believe the HMX has Seaguide guides with zirconium inserts and the Kuying has Fuji Concept O (aluminum oxide) guides - I find most of the names when it comes to guides confusing, so it was interesting to hear you conclude that the HMX guides (which you've always said are expensive guides) are essentially on par.
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish 2 жыл бұрын
You are correct about the guides. In abstract, i think the seaguides are better, but there were two things in my head: 1, these exact guides you see in the video may be too big for UL rod, and 2, the fuji guides probably cost just as much even without the zirconium inserts. Its not that simple when u add the specific application. I think the exact sets of guides you see in the video.. the fuji guides are actually lighter and they are still not micro guides and allow stress free casting. Still, I own many fenwicks and I didn't buy the Kuying : )

Which would be better at throwing 1/32 or 1/64 ounce lures? The Shakespeare micro light 7' with 2500 reel or the 6'6 with 1000 reel. I want to trout fish. Or is it neither can do this?
@ifishcatfish

both rods can throw it but i would use the 1000 size reel and use 2 lb line at most. Keep in mind american 2 lb line is really 3 and sometimes 4 pound line in diameter. You want to keep diameter under 0.15mm, preferable under 0.13mm

Both setup for float, One is setup for bait and the other one has trout magnet on it. I wanted to get 9ft but decided not to. I got 8 instead after watching your video. I really like the feel of the Presso rods and they just look beautiful. Paired with Regal and Revros. This Airstream just feels right too. The tip is quite stiff when compared to my Shimano Catana Ultra Light, you are right about Japanese market not liking wobbly things. the mid section is quite flexible, lots of power on the base. I use bfs for smallmouth bass fishing when rivers are shallow Im looking to replace them with spinning as I can’t get distance I need with bfs. So ultra light and light for hard fighting bass . I don’t panfish . I’m looking one for treble hook baits for distance and one rod for small swim baits , beetle spins or any jig type lure . I think TFO for the single hook lures looking for right treble hook rod for distance.I dont throw under 1/16 . Usually 1/8 ounce.

The Abu's are made in china but in Japanese owned factories with Japanese Quality Control. Which of course is far superior to anything here. American companies can't produce blanks like this, nor do they have access to importing them. The Japanese won't do it. As for it's sensitivity, that's the TAF blank is where it comes from. I have one. It's the aerius model. 7 ft ultralight $249 but got the show price of 25% off. It's a rain shadow blank that is fast/moderate action. It's truly a magnificent rod. Everyone that picks it up always comment on how light it is. Titanium guides are in a class of their own! It is stiffer than say a Daiwa presso for sure. That's because the guy that designed it fishes in the gulf of Mexico and needs a stiffer rod for the reds and sea trout. The only downside is the longest length is 7 foot. I would love to see what you think of it. 👍
