Yep, live is totally different. It hits you to the core. I remember years ago loving the Phantom Regiment hornline lot warm-up videos, especially the Firebird one. Then I got to sit in the circle in the lot before a show and hear it in person, the whole hornline with their bells pointed right at me. That, and hearing a great hornline on the field from the stands, is a sound you don't forget!

My son was a trumpet player in this group and he said it’s first a visual exercise where the first step is the most important so everyone steps out at the same distance then it’s a playing exercise where you breathe, step and play in time.

@PRMillette3 жыл бұрын
If you think these horns are loud, you've never been to a Drum & Bugle Corps competition before, real power from G Bugles, they would blow your hair back, today they need amplification for soloist to be heard, if you can't play loud enough to be heard, get back in line and get someone who can, oh ya, they play B-flat orchestra horns meant to be played indoors in concert halls, not out on a football field, that's was the difference between Drum & Bugle Corps and Bands were, now Drum Corps are becoming the Bands, no more Bugles = Band.
@joedwyer79903 жыл бұрын
@@PRMillette hi, ive marched drum corps for 6 years now, its my age out in 22, making it 7, and this corps was together for 5 weeks with a total of 17 vets in the hornline and everyone else was new. Obviously you cant even compare strength to a corps thats been together for a month vs a full season. Thats a joke. Also, g bugles and bugles in general are so out of tune its hilarious. I recommend you get with the times because we arent going back. Thanks.
@PRMillette3 жыл бұрын
@@joedwyer7990 I marched from 1962-1975, do the math, we aged out at 21, not many made it that far, work, marriage or college took over, most left the after the summer they graduated high school, some right after graduation, there was this thing called the draft we had to deal with up until "73", but we marched a whole season of Drum & Bugle Corps competition, May through mid September, not just 8 or 10 weeks, we would have 2 shows a weekend, 1out of state, 1 local. We would go out on short tours, then a 2 week tour through the Midwest or out to Denver, then back home for the local shows and finals, then a week off and winter practice for the next seasons show. In your 7 years, how many Corps did you tryout for? How many different ones did you march in? The Drum Corps today claim to be from places they don't even have anyone in the Corps that live there. I marched with family members and friends who I can still drive to a local store and see them, or have a get together and have a bunch of people show up, will that be the case 51 years after you age out? I think not.
