To where it's going to surpass the Explorer as a, Flagship Fleet Vehicle. There arent any Chargers on their fleet , while some Crown Victorias from En Mass , remains.

It's about time they put some high tech gadgets in the Tahoes. They bought some Explorers at my place and they have some nice stuff, but this is really next level. If you've never spent time in the front seat of police car, they are tight and uncomfortable and there is never room for anything. Just having a slot for a gas card makes me smile, let alone all the other features.

An excellent police vehicle, the Tahoe PPV (2 and 4 wheel drive option) and the SSV ( non street pursuit; 4 wheel drive only). A combination of room ( from the Caprice ) , bad weather capabilities ( from the Impala 9C1), the toughness ( from the Suburban/Silverado) and the speed ( from Corvette/Camaro).

Look at GM: Trying to sell the button shift to Police, all so they don't lose a couple minutes per Police Tahoe on the assembly line. For the price of these things, they should stay with what has worked for seventy years. They could easily make electronic Column Shifters. It would take 10ths of a second for an Officer to put a Column Shifter in park, by FEEL and MUSCLE MEMORY. Then, if they jumped out and left it in drive, they could have it do the same thing.

With the 2021 Tahoe having a heavier weight than the outgoing 2020 and not getting any upgrades to the 5.3, we shall see if the 2021 is as capable of high speed pursuits. The lane assist and automatic braking are not suitable for police interceptors. They can cause more issues whenever the officer is in a hurry while responding or during a pursuit.

GM is starting to further away from the LQ9/6.0. They use the 6.2 as the bigger option in the lighter duty pickups and suvs and 6.6 gas v8 for the heavy duty pickups. The 6.2 would’ve been a better option though I agree

the 6.0 is being phased out completely, the vans even use the 6.6 now. The 5.3 makes more power now than the 6.0 did at launch and its significantly more fuel efficient, which matters A LOT more to police

@@james2042 yes, fuel economy matters more, highway patrol uses v8 chargers for acceleration anyways. Funny thing is that may departments don't even allow vehicular chases anymore so speed is a non-issue
