The DAW discussion should probably have been a seperate video, as it will draw in comments that have nothing to do with the sales. I have used Opcode Vision, Studio Vision, eMagic Logic, Apple Logic, Cubase on Atari ST and Mac, Reason and am now super happy using Reaper for $60 and at least 2 years of updates for free. It is super flexible if you want to put in the time and just as pro as any.

actually I am happy I brought up daws because cubase has a sale now and I am interested in comments such as yours about Reaper for 60 and 2 years free updates. That is great info. That may be a good choice for someone on a budget or anyone who wants a full daw but not high upgrade prices.

@@41Fingers I also had comments about plugins and such (for example: you know so much!) but I had to mention Reaper as the company behind it is not in it for the money but they still made and update a very professional environment for all of us. Also, I was going to choose Ableton Live but decided for Reaper and spend the hundreds of dollars I saved on good plugins. I really enjoy your videos, keep them coming Sir!

@@rayderrich Thanks for sharing that with the channel. really good info as I look for companys that are not driven by just profits but the love of music.

I used Cubase a few years ago. Nice to use but resource heavy and I got fed up with the bugs and the constant update fee. I switched to Reaper. Hard to find fault. Tiny footprint for such a powerful system so very well written. If you are comfortable with spreadsheets you will be just fine with the 'grid' system :).

Great info and video. I'm also a big fan of the VSL academy page. It was a lot of help when I was first starting out many years ago!

Paid $160 USD for Logic Pro a few years ago and have never paid for an upgrade since. Logic come with a lot of ok internal plugins which can help you put off investing in sample instruments for a bit. The downside to Logic is its a Apple only product. But that can be good if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem.

@@41Fingers This vid is one of the best balanced reviews of holiday specials I’ve seen to date. You have saved me time and $. On the subject of Spitfire they make good products and their customer service has been responsive so far. They also have a couple of freebies. They offer a free monthly plugin by subscribing to their LABS products mostly atmospheric strings, sampled guitars and stringed instruments etc. They also offered a stripped down version of their BBC Symphony orchestra for free if you’re willing to wait a few weeks. Sorry I can’t compare them to the other orchestral products you mentioned as I don’t have experience with those. BTW I’ve also heard the people at pluginbotique referencing your channel when it comes to getting remidi and scaler working together. Thanks for your insight.

By far the best review I've seen. I was looking at VSL Ensemble 7 as it seems to come with the Synchron Player and a full 70gig orchestra for about $200. What held me back was the licensing dongle thing and thinking I must have got something wrong at that price. Anyway will look at it again.. if it really is $200 CDN ... no brainer

Great David, and I think they are moving to a better license system in the new year

Hey thanks for the video... Studio one is really doing Great... Pecx is always on 50% sale .... still do you recommend that I shall wait till Christmas? Why you did not lay emphasis on Black Friday sale ?🤔

Md hi. I frankly don't know all the black friday sales going on, so I kept it to more general thoughts on sales.
