So impressed with your self-reflection! I'm a Harvard and MIT grad, was an Aerospace Engineer for 3 years, and then dropped everything and moved to the jungle, where I learn and preserve natural building techniques that are disappearing. I currently live in a home made of clay, sand, and straw, which is highly beneficial for health although not as profittable for the construction industry since I built it myself from materials on my land. I'm grateful that I was able to step away from the illusion of prestige at a young age and stop the "chase" to nowhere. Retirement is an illusion. Many people will never get there. We have to live life now and define what "successful" means to each of us. I have more than I need living simply and have no regrets!

@@arayasimms1607 European here. The fact is that, even if some faculties don't have an entrance exam, the courses during your first year are usually tough enough to do the "cut", allowing only the students that have the right preparation and motivation to continue their path, the others usually leave or change the field of study. I watch a lot of videos about US universities but I'm always amazed on how easy everything looks over there..maybe is just an impression 🤷♀️

Additionally, your well evoked opinions are the kind of things that matter when we decide a path to take and not the Ivy League persona. It allows people like me, who focused on getting by be okay with focusing on what matters instead of building an acceptable resume, focus on real goals. You’re ideas at the end are really eye opening. You have a really great perspective for someone your age. When I started college for the first time right out of high school, I had no idea what I was doing and public school definitely did not prepare me for what was to come. My mother is an immigrant from the Philippines who only has a 9th grade education, and my father, who was born and raised here in the US did not go to college, so neither parent understood what it took. On top of that, I was not born into money… my mom has never made even a living wage, and my father has been a car salesman all my life. All of these issues culminated into 1-2 stressful years of me trying to go to community college, all the while not understanding the resources I could have taken advantage of because no one told me. I wanted to do well, but I had no one around me to help. How is someone supposed to succeed when they, 1, have to ask questions, but 2, don’t even know the right questions to ask? I am 23 now. If someone had just pushed me in the right direction I would’ve potentially been done with school by now. When I was 18 I did not realize that had I just gotten a better SAT score and actually applied to a few schools that I might have gotten in. I had already reflected on this way before seeing your video, but it really resonates with me. I am now back in community college, with the goal of transferring to the best four year that my gpa will allow, without any personal limitation. I’ve also realized that my mindset had to change, and I’ve been at a job for the past 3 years where I’m surrounded by people with degrees who I can go to for advice, and I now consider myself lucky. Thanks for your wise words!
