He really is the Paul McBeth of Finland. Watching him in a recent Finnnish Pro Tour tournament and no matter how great tee shot he threw or if the rare occurence of him making a mistake happened, he was ice cold: I'm here just to do my job. Let them emotions out after the final putt and sealing the win. His mental game is World Champ level already.

I have tried disc golf a few times over the years and when covid restrictions came last spring I felt the timing was right to buy my first disc and try to learn this. Went directly from the store to one of the local tracks. By the practice-baskets there was I guy who seemed to know how to throw so asked for some newbie-advise. He happily showed and explained the basics, friendly dude. Now, watching this, I found out his name is Josef Berg and he absolutely knows how to throw a disc!!!

Simon completely spacing on Jussi saying Josef is only 982 rated and repeating him 20 seconds later cracked me up so much.

16:50 I wonder if Simon is keeping his elbow lower ever since his elbow injury, so the disc comes out with more hyzer than he's used to with that body position. I remember him talking about getting a bit too much hyzer on one of the vlogs a long time ago (after the elbow injury). And maybe he is trying to throw flat with his wrist here subconsciosly to compensate, even though his body is in a hyzer position. I had that problem for a long time. It results in nose up hyzers instead. Might explain why his hole 1 tee-shots both faded out too much.

@Spartacus113 жыл бұрын
Yeah certainly some rating inflations going on there. Comparing these players to the top people on the U.S. tour, they seem to be far worse at putting and less disc control in general. But yeah no way he is on the same level as Ricky, Paul, Eagle and Calvin. Those 4 would absolutely shred out at the Europe course, and one of them would certainly win the tournament.
@teukka6233 жыл бұрын
@@Spartacus11 these aren’t the top guys though. You will see the top guys in final round
@Spartacus113 жыл бұрын
@@teukka623 For sure, but 2 out of 4 of them are in the final round. And Simon is a strong player of course, just a bit inconsistent as of late due to his injuries and such. But regardless, 1050 is certainly highly inflated as there’s only a few 1050’s in the U.S and those are the guys winning most tournaments and finishing top 5 consistently. I don’t think anyone from Europe would be finishing in the top 5 or even top 10 consistently on the US pro tour. But there’s certainly a lot of young talent in Europe, so perhaps in a couple years things will turn around. Toivottavasti pääsis Suomalaista pelaajaa kattomaan täällä Jenkeissä joskus, Maple Hill reilu puolen tunnin päässä asunnolta & 3 viikon päästä turnausta sinne seuraamaan 👍🏻

At this point he probably doesn’t have a chance tbh. He feels the need to go for ”flashy” shots way too much and his putting has been lacking for quite a while. Now when he has elbow issues I dunno if he can go toe-to-toe with the top guys. He might have put too much attention into the vlog as well

I think Simon could greatly benefit from a sponsorship change. Jussi is clearly terrible at building confidence in his players. The extra criticism and comparison to Eagle is not helpful, and it’s hard to perform when you hear your boss’s critiques in the back of your mind all the time.
