Price and efficiency. I tested the 3.5 and 2.7 back to back and the only place I could feel the difference was off the line so I saved the money and went with the 2.7. I’ve been very happy with jt

@@ehaberzurumli1822 super reliable engine. I wouldn’t be worried. I’m on a lot of F150 forums and rarely see people complain or have issues with the 2.7. It’s much more commonly the 3.5 or the 5.0

What do you enjoy driving more, like the very first time driving both, the 4Runner or the F150?
@ryanmoyer12 жыл бұрын
Without a doubt the F150. It's quieter, smoother, faster, bigger. It's night and day. I loved the 4Runner but it was a relatively narrow vehicle in terms of how much space I felt in the cabin. It also was pretty lack luster in terms of driving performance. But in fairness it's also an apples to oranges comparison as the Ford is 23 years newer.

Just subscribed to your channel, nice video! I have also ordered an XLT 2022 2.7 with 2WD and its coming soon. I think you would be the best person to ask this question, lately I have been in two minds regarding if I should have gone with a 4WD instead of 2WD. The only reason for me to think of getting a 4WD is cause its a bit higher and not sure but I might get a jet ski in a few years. Though I don't think the truck will have any issues with towing the jet ski just hope I can go up the boat ramp. Its my first truck so I am not sure if I made a right choice. Can I ask you why you went with a 2WD and also if the ride height is good enough or does it sit very low? Just don't want to get a feeling that I am driving a car instead of a truck. Look forward to your other videos!

Hi layercake17. Congrats on getting your truck! I have a similar truck on order, and purposely ordered 2WD. My .02 is that, unless you plan on using 4WD with some frequency, you don't need it. I've launched boats and watercraft with previous trucks (3.0L Ranger and a 4.2L F150), both 2WD, and had no issues at the boat ramp. This is on paved launch ramps. The ride height for the 2WD should not be a problem if you ask me. If you're concerned about the truck not looking high enough (aesthetically), you can install a leveling kit in the front. Some people do that. The only thing that 4WD might help with is that it may bring a higher resale value down the road. However, what can offset that is the fact that you may pay more at the pump for 4WD vs 2WD. Something to think about, especially these days. I hope you enjoy your truck!

I went with the 2WD for cost reasons and mpg's. I definitely would have considered a 4wd for a one off time that I may actually need it but I started shopping at the end of the year and needed to buy something before 2022 to be able to write it off. I figured I was saving a couple thousand on the initial price, insurance would have been about $800 more per year, and the gas mileage would undoubtably take a hit - so for me it was a no brainer and I am very happy with it. I don't think you'll have any issues at the ramp with a jetski. I don't have one but a lot of my friends do and they never engage 4wd at the ramp. My inlaws have a boat and a 2wd half ton and they have no issues at all. The difference in height between the 2wd and 4wd that isn't really talked about is that the 2wd comes with smaller tires from the factory. So atleast with the XLT (and probably all models) the 2wd comes stock with 30.5" tires where the 4wd comes stock with 32.5" tires. So if you plan on swapping your tires out shortly after purchasing, that won't matter at all. But it is a consideration and I was trying to figure out why mine looked like it was sitting shorter than other new trucks when I first got it. I actually just uploaded a video showing a new level kit that I installed. that made a world of a difference and I'm planning to get new wheels and tires soon too - so once that is done it will be sitting real nice. Another anecdote: when you change tire size your calibration is going to be off for your speedometer, which will also throw off your ability to track mpg's. Since the truck will be calibrated with 30.5" tires from the factory - if you go to 34 or 35" tires that can make a relatively dramatic difference (up to 10mpg give of take) and the dealers around me say that they can't recalibrate '18 and newer F150's with the OEM scanners so I'm actually looking around for a tuning shop near me that has some experience with the aftermarket turners to make sure my speedometer is accurate when I pull the trigger.

Also forgot to ask in my other post, did you have to do a break in or is that no longer required with the new cars.
@ryanmoyer12 жыл бұрын
No longer required unless it's a really high compression vehicle geared for performance but the dealer will definitely let you know if that's something you need to do. In this case, it isn't. But I still like to take it easy for the first 5k miles or so just out of respect for the vehicle lol.

So what ended up being your real MPG? Just ordered basically the same exact truck as you but it’s a 2022.
@ryanmoyer12 жыл бұрын
I'll have a video on this soon. In the meantime I get about 16mpg if I'm mashing on the gas in normal mode (I live at about 1,600ft elevation and regularly drive up and down hills and 80% city so probably some of the worst driving conditions as far as MPG is concerned.) Right now I'm testing a full tank on eco mode and I'm above 20 doing that so far. I've been using 91 for fuel but the video I put out will have all the details so keep an eye out if you care to know more.
