2021 F150 Shifter Stuck Fix

I am experiencing a problem with the gear shift on my 2022 F-150 Lariat. The gear shift seems to be locked, and I am unable to move it out of the "reverse" position. What should I do?

Thank you for sharing! This just happened to me last week when I was backing up my camper and it got stuck into PARK.. The shifter went beyond Park and when I put it back into Park it was locked up and had a tow it to the dealer. Gator Ford in Tampa said they have not seen this problem yet. But I don't know if I believe them. How has your new shifter held up?

Yes it has held up, it's been driven every day since the repair with no trouble on the new unit.

Just installed a new one and now it flashing in P and i get a message on screen shift system fault. I was told it need to be reprogram or flash is this true?

Having the same issue with mine. It’s stuck in drive and blinking. The dash says it’s in park. Did you disconnect the battery before installing the new shifter? 2:39

I had to do some calling around to find the gear shifter assembly, was told it’s on back order. Found in way up in Minnesota.

Just so you know this is a common issue. I called my Ford dealer here in Wisconsin and was told the gear shifter was on back order, might be able to get it in 2 to 3 weeks. I asked him to do a search for me to see if anyone else had it in the area. The parts man searched all of Wisconsin and Illinois, nothing. I got the part # and started searching for myself. Found it at Jeff Bezlers Ford in New Prague Minnesota. They had one and overnighted it to me. If you don’t already have the part # it’s ML3Z*7210*Q. L What a nightmare ! 47k miles on my 21 Lariat. Not knocking this video but I took mine to Ford. Yes, I took it all apart and was happy like a sissy running naked through a cucumber patch! I stopped and said man, I bet this is going to have to be programmed on the computer by ford. So the 30 minutes it took me to rip it apart , I put it back together and had it towed to the dealer. What a pain! Mine wouldn’t start manually or remotely. E-brake would not disengage, had to use the manual neutral lever release and hold for the E-brake to get it to roll up on the flat bed. When released it obviously would re-engage. If you can’t find a new motorcraft from the dealer get it on eBay. They are used but it’s better than nothing. Got a call an hour ago that my truck is ready. Charged me for 2 hours labor, but the work is guaranteed. Oh, and they had no issues installing a new genuine ford part seeing how it was on backorder. Cost me under 4 bills but I don’t care, it beats this rental that smells funny 😆 Good luck brother!

@@MrNuketrooper thanks for the info kind stranger! I went ahead and ordered one from Ford Parts Giant and a used one on eBay as a backup, got my fingers crossed. I took the busted unit partially apart, just to explore and it's is junk. I'm sorry, but those plastic pieces for the gears inside look like they came from a cheap RC toy. Insane. Did you find out if it did have to be programmed? I've got an interface and can if I have to, pay for the bloody FDRS license for a day. Ugh.

I agree 💯 % with you. Yea, my brother is in the business and said all these new computerized vehicles require them to be hooked to the computer after install. Ford said the same. (Of course they did) I just could not chance it. Give it try with the used one when you get it and see what happens. I’ve only the one vehicle so I couldn’t afford to mess around.
