Wanted to lower mine but don’t want to get rid of borla dual exhaust . Thanks for explaining that issue what exhaust setup did you end up going with
@MurphysLawGarage11 ай бұрын
An exhaust shop could get it to work, but you’d likely need to heat wrap the pipes to stop heat transfer and it would likely touch if the truck went down to the bump stops. We just dumped it at the muffler.

Do you absolutely have to drop the 3inches in front and 5inches in the back. Anyway to install this kit with just dropping the rear to level with the stock front height?
@MurphysLawGarage6 күн бұрын
We are using a coilover up front so we can put it wherever we want. An axle flip kit is overkill just to level the truck.
@tylerstewart386 күн бұрын
@ thanks for replying! I am looking at doing coilovers in the front but keep it stock height and drop the rear to level the truck. Only modifying the height of the rear. If that makes sense.

No problem, thanks! The add a leaf actually makes the truck ride better than stock on the drop kit and it even tows more confident - highly recommend.

Message Terry Reeves at Beefcake Racing on FB and ask him for the kit JB put on the F150 on Murphys Law Garage. He’ll know whats up and get you a deal. We also have an add a leaf you will likely want, he’s got the list - our kit was customized with the viking shocks.

You should also use a 1" lift shackle instead of a add a leaf.
@MurphysLawGarage11 ай бұрын
Actually, it depends on how the leaf spring pack is setup on your configuration. This truck had only one leaf spring from the factory and the lower made it bouncy. VAS and Beefcake Racing both advised to use an add a leaf, we’ve since installed it and it rides like oem now.
@robbuchanan487011 ай бұрын
@@MurphysLawGarage if you tow, like you say you do you'll want a helper bag kit from either IHC or Ridetech. A 1" lift shackle to raise the rear and a helper bag kit is a better choice than adding a leaf. But it's your truck so you do you. Good luck.
@MurphysLawGarage11 ай бұрын
@robbuchanan4870 “in your opinion”, the truck is trying to bridge the gap between 60’ at the track and towing, its how we want it.
@cristian1019 ай бұрын
So shackle is better than add leaf ? I have the vas and it dropped my rear 7 inches to low for my single cab. Vas told me to install add a leaf it would give me 2 inches more .
@MurphysLawGarage9 ай бұрын
@cristian101 it rides substantially better with the add a leaf and tows better than stock. Do what VAS told you - as we did.

@MurphysLawGarage9 ай бұрын
@shammahjenkins8870 we don’t make enough power, if the day ever comes that wheelies are an issue we may cross that bridge. The truck doesn’t hop or roll since installing the trac bars.
@shammahjenkins88709 ай бұрын
@@MurphysLawGarage okay understood. I am about to purchase the same kit for my single cab and thought about buying it. I guess it can wait. Not boosting until winter or spring.

@robbuchanan487011 ай бұрын
You over torqued those U bolts. Sounds like you used factory specs. VAS specs are 75 ft lbs. Safe to say your bottom U bolt plates are now warped/bent.
@MurphysLawGarage11 ай бұрын
Yes, we used factory specs. This is a factory towing package truck that still needs to tow and 75ft lbs is just too loose. We’ve made 3 adjustments to this setup and re torqued 4x - the plates are perfectly straight, no issues. The truck is driven daily and tows weekly.
@robbuchanan487011 ай бұрын
@@MurphysLawGarage your towing package is long gone now thay it's lowered. 75 ft lbs is the correct specs for VAS. IHC uses 85 ft lbs on the passenger side and 65 ft lbs on the driver side. I'd be willing to bet a ton of cash your bottom plates are bent, because they are. And you should only use U bolts once, not 4 times. Good luck.
@MurphysLawGarage11 ай бұрын
@robbuchanan4870 LOL, ok buddy - all words when your speaking to someone who’s telling you the opposite, nothing is bent and I would bet 200ft lbs wouldn’t bend that plate. Ubolts are most definitely reuasable and it’s done all the time. The truck tows better now with the new setup, regardless of the reduced capacity. Im not going to argue with you, the advice/opinion is unsolicited.
