Learn the “flood start” procedure to fill your new oil filter with oil PRIOR to starting the vehicle. This was a procedure that FORD created for these 1.5 L motors since the oil filter is horizontally mounted.

The recommended amount of oil is 5.3 quarts. Another source listed 5.5 quarts so your level may register just a little bit low but not a harmful level.

I love supertech oil. That's all I used on my Toyota Highlander and it had 315,000 miles on it when some birdbrain crashed into me and totaled it. I'd still have that car and by now I would have more than 500,000 miles on it because it was a great car.

For 2024 1.5L the oil plug is a reusable plastic one. The oil pan is also plastic and takes 6.6 qts (!). note the factory filter was 1 in shorter than the replacement fl910s filter 2.25 in versus 3.25 inches. 15 nm (11.6 ft lbs) torque was printed on the factory filter. the 2024 (big bend) also lost that engine cover

Thanks ! Just bought a 2024 myself, going to change the first oil @ 1500 miles. If mine has that cardboard ‘pan’ cover, I’m going to delete it as well. That and will see if the 2024 PTU has a drain plug 👍👍

Are you sure there wasn't a door on the shroud that can be opened to allow access to the oil plug and filter? I thought I saw that. Just asking, I don't know.

Is there not a drain plug crush washer?

Just did this on my wife's BB, it has a rubber gasket on the plug. I called the dealer and was told that they didn't stock the gasket; but they had the plug w/ gasket. I just reused the gasket, The gasket is recessed in the plug.

I've never replaced a drain plug ever in 60 years and over 8 different cars. The only time I did is when the shop I used once with a coupon put the filter and plug on so tight I had to use vice grips to remove the plug because I stripped it and also had to use a screwdriver to pierce the filter with a screw driver to get it off. I do my own oil changes. $100+ now when oil and a filter cost $35 anywhere.

Everything was good. Until you lubed the filter o ring. I'm a master ford tech. And it literally says in workshop manual "do not lubricate filter o-ring". This is something ford put out a while back. It can actually cause the filter to back off. Your supposed to remove old filter wipe the surface clean and install new filter. Other than that. Nice video. Let me know if you need help with anything on it.

The dirty oil on the new filter seal was the way I was taught too many years ago! Thanks for pointing that out.

??? The box on motorcraft filter shows to lube the o ring in the diagram. I’ve never heard of not lubing the o-ring. there would be no logic there. It helps it slide on the metal surface of the mounting location, and not get stuck the next time.

Nice review. I like to replace the oil pan plug and filter, put new oil in and start the car. Check for leaks underneath and then replace the shroud.
@summerforever673611 ай бұрын
That is a waste of time !! If all tight no leaks !!!

Great job. I need to get this done. Oil life shows 45% and this is the first one so thinking to do this now at 4k. With synthetic I guess we can wait until say 6k. Right
