Getting my ST serviced tomorrow, nothing wrong with it, I've had it for 3 years, but theyre telling me its a Recall Thing. So getting the new one put in this week, I'll keep you posted, thank you for the video and keep it coming! grat stuff!

Hey brother, they gave me my car back, was a 2 day job. To tell you the truth I don’t feel any difference… I think it was just a bolt. Just glad to have my ST back.

@@bigmikecastle that's an amazing turn around for anything at a dealer lol. The recall program specifies that the bushing has to be replaced also for anything built before June 2022 so hopefully they replaced yours. Thanks for the reply

I'm not able to find where they recalled this anywhere. Maybe the 23" isn't part of that. And they sure didn't say anything about it when I had mine in the dealership the other day. Now I am on the hunt for another bolt to make it 4 instead of 3. I love my 23" now that we figured out what that annoying clunk was coming from the front end. It took two trips to the dealership and a loaner car, but I got it back and while they were removing the right front strut for replacement they noticed the upper bearing had separated. So they installed a new RF strut, upper bearing, strut mount, and did an alignment. Problem solved!!! Reading through the invoice it says “Found SSM 52405 for front strut noise and vehicle falls within build date of SSM criteria" So Ford is aware of this issue somewhere along the line. I know a lot of folks are experiencing this same issue and no one seemed to have a solution I could find. Except that the dealerships were telling them it was normal. DON'T buy that crap if yours is making what sounds like a strut or ball joint noise from the front end!! Either way, I am selling this thing before the warranty is up!!

Mine snapped yesterday turning left from a stop sign, probably was going 3 mph when it happened, no diffy stiffy whatsoever, have launched it around 6 times or so but would give it the beans on the highway when overtaking, thankfully this happened where it did and not cruising at 80.

Thanks for sharing, I think a lot more going to start snapping unfortunately. Hopefully it gets resolved soon by Ford before it gets some people killed. The fix seems obvious enough!

@Catholic Firefighter I also know of non tuned folks snapping twice in less than 20k miles and 2020's with the proper 4 bolt brace also snapping. I have sold the truck after repairs, not worth the trouble.

Arizona Here! I just got a '22 ST and seeing this happening to users all over the forums... Just ordered the AWR Racing Rear Diff Mount from Whoosh for it to help secure and give it another holding point then the SINGLE bolt that Ford removed the second prob to save a few penies... ugh.... The ST is my wife's new fun vehicle while I have my vette. That ST is a freaking FUN truck.... Mishimoto Intercooler, aFe CAI (Oiled), aFe strut tower brace, AWR Rear Diff Mount, high flow catted down pipes, making my own tune via HPTuners, and of course the black wheel lugs, why they have the black out package with black wheels on my black ST, and chrome lugs... ugh...

I have 2 STs. A 2020 and a 2021 the 2020 has 4 bolts in the rear diff and rear subframe. The 2021 has 3 bolt 🔩, 1 bushing, and 1 hole in rear subframe what a byatch.

The 2020+ explorers are garbage. My ST was in the shop so many times ford sent a $250 gift card for my troubles. Air conditioning broke 3 times, the drivers seat plastic broke, the drivers seat positioning had a 30 sec delay that never could get fixed, the electronics systems were always slow and laggy as fuck, the transmission started downshifting hard, the exhaust rattle, and the window controls went bad. All of these are very common issues in this generation explorer. Got rid of it at 32k miles just when the AC broke for a 4th time 😂 went back to Lexus quality, reliability, and dependability.

Depends on the model. Some new Lexus vehicles are mediocre at best. The 2020+ Explorers show exactly what would happen after the previous Ford CEO declared that the company would cut $8+ billion out of the costs of their new vehicles. The Escape, Explorer, Mustang, and F-150 all have obvious signs of corner cutting to reach that goal. Unfortunately the cost cutting really hurt reliability and durability.

Too bad this isn't a recall.... ugh... they are still producing all ST's with the THREE bolt setup, while the Lincoln Aviator is using the same cradle with the 4 bolts!!! A lot of the forum users have paid to change out to the aviator cradle and go after ford for re-payment and have succeeded... If this snaps on mine, I am doing this... The diff has the holes in it for the bolts, so you could buy the aviator cradle that has two bolts and bushing in it and not just one and swap out yourself too...

@@waferzworld That’s the way to go. Grab a 2020, Whipple intercooler, E50 tune, and you can hit 11’s and take the family camping in the same weekend.

@@dadmobile960 E50 will be an off weekend type of thing for me as it’s unfortunately 20-30 min out of my way… I wish I could run it every day! 93 will be the primary use. My rs3 ran 11.1 with tune only on the street but was too small, if the ST can run mid to high 11s and still be reliable, I think I will love it! That’s hauling the mail in an suv that size for the price it is! I really wanted a new one, but the 21 I found has the 2 bolt and all of the options installed so I think I’ll go that route for sure.

The recall does not come with a solution for the diff bolt problem. It only makes dealers aware of the problem. It’s mainly for the parking brake issue.

It's fairly modified.... you did void your warranty by the actions you've done. Get over it. If a dealer isn't willing to look a blind eye then great but you cannot be upset if they follow the rules. The way it works is the average cost per vehicle of warranty services are built into the margin of the vehicle so the more warranty abuse people do the high the price of cars will creep. "You break it you buy it" is how I was raised.

2022 Explorer owner here. I'll say it's the worse vehicle I've owned. It spends most of it's life at Ford's service center just for them to tell me nothings wrong. 11k miles and it's been towed 31 times. First and last Ford I'll own.
