Melon is a decent bassist
@diavalitemusic3 жыл бұрын
@@wadsmitter511 Melon has a hobby. Jacob is a professional on bass among other instruments that he has complete control over. People would actually have to study music theory for at least 5 years to start understanding what this guy is doing to music. He is the Mozart, Bach, Beethoven of our times. Melon just doesn't have the knowledge and facility to be able to critique him correctly.
@wadsmitter5113 жыл бұрын
@@diavalitemusic I completely agree that Jacob is a once in a hundred-years kinda guy, and has incredible amounts of potential! We're talking really insane amounts of music and progression to be made through Jacob. However, when it all comes down to it, music is just emotional expression and impression with sound as the medium. Theory and knowledge are incredibly useful tools to achieve a certain sound, and Jacob probably has the most developed musical knowledge in the world right now, but theory and knowledge are not ends when it comes to music, just means. The end is music/sound, and if something sounds bad, it does not matter what theory or technique created it. I'm not saying that complex and technical music is worse, in fact i tend to prefer music that challenges the listener, and think that technique and complexity opens an infinite number of doors when it comes to expressing emotion through music. But again, they are only means to an end. What i'm trying to say is that, if Melon does not like the way that Jacob's music *sounds* , then no amount of theory would compensate for that, since it is not the end goal.
@diavalitemusic3 жыл бұрын
@@wadsmitter511 yes of course, i fully agree with what you just wrote. theory is just a tool. The important thing here is if you come to this channel to listen to some guy talk about his subjective opinions about music and who picks to talk about only bands and individual artists that he likes - or - you want to listen to a music critique that is valid, professional and tries to be as objective as possible.

It doesn't have to be in the duo/group category, there's loads of collabs in song of the year. it would just be ridiculous for them to put two songs by the same artist in one category

11:56 The Strokes did get snubbed. Nearly every track on The New Abnormal is a banger. Glad they're in it for best rock album though

They've been snubbed for years. How the hell have they never had a grammy nom before. ITI and ROF didn't get any Noms.

I feel like everybody has had the same reaction to Alfredo being nominated. Freddie winning a Grammy would be huge

Anthony, have you ever listened to Jacob Collier's music? I totally recommend you to experience it. It's mind-blowing what this genius produces.

How DARE you disrespect Cardigan like that! It is one of the best on the record and better than Exile imo. And Cardigan deserves SOTY period point blank

@Chi Non i agree that the grammys doesn't determine bts's success alone, but it would be an important validation for them. including for exception from the military, for example. also, they do care about it a lot, as they have stated multiple times, and it would be weird if an artist didn't care this much for the greatest achievement in their craft. I see what you mean but it's still the grammys, at the end of the day. it should not determine them, but at the same time it would if they won one.
