No, they'll do a "LE" ladder edition of the map that widens the ramp. Rightfully so, that is total bullshit. The wall-off cannon rush was intentionally nerfed by putting destructible debris at the base of the ramp near the end of wings of liberty because you could block zerg in the main with two pylons. Being able to do it with 1 is absurdly broken, especially now that shield batteries exist so you can make any unit proxied and heal it infinitely. That's such an unfair advantage.

@@MoshSpit He didn't break any rule. It's an oversight in map design. In his position, I would have done the same thing. A win is a win. It's cheap, but not cheating. Mapmakers/blizzard solved the problem 3/4ths of a decade ago, but a mistake slipped through into competitive play. Sucks for Solar, though. But parting didn't "cheat", he just found an unintended way to exploit map topography.

He didn't break any rules but that is clearly an exploit. That was not intended by the mapmaker, and that "strategy" of walling zerg into the main was supposed to be fixed with destructible debris back in 2013. He didn't earn that win in game 1, an oversight by the mapmaker did. It really is kind of lame.

That's definitely not a bug. It's the Zerg's fault for not thinking about that when they're preparing for this game. That's the point of GSL isn't it? It's drawn out over a period of time compared to the usual tournament so that people can experiment and think of builds. If Parting has discovered this then Solar should have discovered this as well. Simple.

Expecting any zerg to be prepared for a build that shouldn't be possible is fucking ridiculous. I hope they fix this map before using it again, it is broken. Parting took a free win because of an exploit that's technically not against the rules. Good on him. In his position, I probably would do it to. A win is a win. But that doesn't make it not cheap or something Solar could possibly have reacted to.

Came here from Artosis's stream the next day when he talks about it. That first match is just tragic, that's not fair on Solar at all. I genuinely think he deserves a formal apology for being made to play on what's arguably a bugged map from the invisible walls around the pylon and being eliminated in part due to it. This kind of sloppiness isn't okay for what a lot of of consider the one of the best multiplayer games of all time. Both players are fantastic, Parting was just using the tools at his disposal, but that was more certainty more frustrating than entertaining to watch

Easiest way to deal with these sort of proxy cannon/battery rushes is to make it so buildings have a sort of shield overheat where they can only be re-shielded once or twice. Doing it this way instead of a fixed amount also allows protoss to still defend their nexus and larger buildings with shield batteries while not allowing for shield battery spam on buildings in an aggressive way.

"No fair, the liberator can hit my workers and I can't do anything about it" - He took the time to observe the map, and play it the best way he found he could. Parting played the map, that's all. He was better prepared to play his game, than solar was to play parting. It's cheesy for sure, but he won within the confines of the map, and the game. It's not his job to fix the map, or tell solar how to play on it.

Players shouldn't have deal with map exploits when it's the mapmakers and organizers job to make sure whatever Parting did shouldn't have been possible. If this was a ladder game then I would say give him the points and move on. But they literally do this for a living, so at least beat Solar without exploiting someone else's mistakes.
