Happy Planner many of us loyal planner babes have been saying it (via socials and email) but I'll say it here again - you would make SO MUCH MORE money if you made months and dividers "separateable" so people can mix and match their guts and dividers. People would buy 2 planners all the time because they could just mix their fav layout with their fav design. I don't understand why not? You make the divider graphics on both sides, the monthly calendar can have the month page and a bills page on the back, and then the weeks separate with a page for notes if it's uneven. People would buy and mix and match your designs like crazy. Rather than pick apart what you release.

Ok, here are my first thoughts on the release. Where are the monthly layouts? They are useful, people! To me, they are way better than the dashboard layout, which is, let's face it, a copy of the Hobonichi. Where is my classic deluxe version of Marvelous Mosaics, with a full collection of sticker books and accessories to match? So sad.😔 It was not promised, by any means, but I was waiting for it, since it was such a beautiful design that only came out in the big. What is going on with the faith line? It looks very shallow, compared to what it used to be. The first faith sticker book had so much variety, my old undated faith planner had gorgeous dividers... Now it looks like they were in a hurry to release... something, no matter what. In fact, that is the impression I got from the entire lineup. The products are missing their souls, the very thing that used to attract me to The Happy Planner. Now, I don't want to be a hater. To be honest, I like the recovery planner, the wedding planner and the habits planner, they are beautiful and the concepts are interesting. The floral art is cute. However, I won't buy any of those, because I have leftovers from previous years that I can use and that will serve me better in 2021. I would only buy a planner now if I fell in love. I didn't, which is disappointing. The sticker books are repetitive, too. I wish the design team would focus less on quantity and more on unique, original ideas. Someone in the comments is saying there's a Disney line coming up. I'll probably buy the sticker books, if there are any. As for the planners, I'll stick to using what I've got.

I totally agree about the faith planner. That one is quite honestly, the most cliche phrases and style I can think of. The colors even look like an older version. The undated one from last year was so mature and gorgeous. This one is just blah.

I'm wondering if they had to pull back because production is more difficult with the pandemic. I imagine they have to do their designs fairly far in advance, which explains why the summer release was so large, and this one is scaled back so much.

@@wurdnurd1 True, I wasn't taking that factor in account. I have watched a detailed flip through of the Recovery line and I like it a lot, it is very well thought. Maybe they chose to put a lot of energy into that line and other specific products (the wedding planner is super detailed, too) and "neglected" the planners for day-to-day use, in terms of innovating and making sure they offered all layouts in different styles. Maybe. I also recall that, in one of the latest releases, there were requests for a new bookish line, with "adultish" aesthetics. Your comment gives me hope that we may still get it after the world goes back to normal.

I like many of their products and they have some good layout ideas, but I really wish they'd add more neutral planners, such as Wild Styled, which I thought was gorgeous! Beautifully neutral and sophisticated (although I do not agree with the sentiments inside - "Be Wild", etc). The floral planners here were very pretty until I saw that each weekly page had a big flower on the left side. I'd prefer either more space to write in the weekly or blank space to put stickers, because they have some nice stickers. I like pops of color, but there's just too much color on everything. And if a page is neutral-ish, then there's a bunch of color on the margins or added pictures. Many of the sentiments are not what I believe, so it would be nice if they left some planners without all the words perhaps.

The stargazer is the only one I would think of getting. I’m really disappointed with this years release. I feel like this is starting to gear more towards kids. I wish they came out with a boho 12 month planner like they had in the past. Overall this release was pretty disappointing.

I agree. I'm not wanting to hurt feelings but I know I will... the Disney collection is sooo childish to me. Not because Disney is for kids (I like plenty of fiction that's geared towards a younger audience) but because I feel that fiction-themed planners in general are childish. If I want to add, say, Pokemon or Harry Potter or whatever thing I love to my planner, I want to be able to do it in my own style and discreetly. To me it's the difference between buying a school planner when I was in school with whatever theme represented me best, and having a planner that I choose to incorporate my personality into as an adult where I wish.

I think the desert flower and stay wild moon child are supposed to be the boho ones this year. I have the classic size stay wild from last year, and it has a nice mix of pinks, greens, purple, and peach instead of everything being saturated in pink. I kind of like the new one, but at the same time it feels like too much. The whole line in general had way too much pink and rainbow. I'm fine with bright and pretty and feminine, but so many of these are just sickly sweet.

Where are the monthly layouts?!! This was perfect for bullet journal junkies! Some of us just need a running todo list for each month like the Classic Dream Seeker planner. It was perfect without having to flip back pages to find tasks on specific days or weeks when u can have a running list. Especially on the go! 😪

I really love that there's a planner for recovery (I've already purchased the companion pack and I'll be buying the guided journal as well) as well as one for lettering but that's about it. I wish HP would put a little bit of focus on making their planners more customizable (I.e. more undated planners, dividers with graphics on both sides, more snap on cover options, etc.)

Okay so here's what I think is happening. HP is known for their colourful, cheerful designs, but they do branch out to offer more simple, neutral layouts but probably not as often as we'd hope. Fans of the Happy Planner have been loyal to the brand for years, and because of this, we've 'aged up' and our tastes have changed. We still love the quality, functionality and price point of the Happy Planner, but the designs are missing the mark. Sometimes they come across as cheesy and juvenile. We're hanging around waiting for incredible designs and sometimes it feels like we're not being catered to.

I don't think that's true. When I started liking Happy Planner I was 29 - I'm 33 now. I wouldn't class that as "ageing up" in a market demographic kind of way. Ageing up is when your target audience has changed to a completely different life phase (i.e. you were gearing towards teens but your teens are now adults - you were gearing towards young adults but your young adults are now midlifers/middle aged, or your target audience has largely gone from working to retired). I don't think 4 years can age your original audience out unless you were targeting children/teens to begin with. Which they were not.

I want the original fitness layout, please!! The old one was sectioned for meals. I like the seasonal planners because of the dividers and the pages are usually themed and require very little decoration. I'm glad I got the last 18 month one, because this one is boring and not at all exciting to look at. I never liked anything with metallic or animal print. Plus, no flowers!!! I have a cat, but don't want my planner covered in cat pictures. I feel a lot of these won't sell, and will be on clearance before the new year even starts. I'm going to say maybe with things shutting down due to Covid and the increases in price of materials, this in turn led to a lackluster release. Maybe the next batch of 18 month planners will be better.🤷‍♀️

Oh wow, where to start with this? I’m disappointed. The thing that I loved about The Happy Planner is that every planner you picked up had continuity of design through the whole planner from cover to cover. Each planner had a theme and they went hard on that design everywhere in the planner from the cover page to the dashboard page, the divider and into the weekly pages. The theme carried throughout. If it was a more professional theme then that was carried out with great detail in every page. If it was a whimsical design we would see that in every page with the themes and colors shown in EVERY page. None of the pages looked like they didn’t belong or like they were taken out of another planner which is very often the case now. The new planners have recycled designs in the dashboards or the dividers or the covers. All of the old designs felt fresh. Now they feel like cost cutting is the motto. Some of us like a professional look, some of us like a neutral or muted color look, some of us like a rainbow look, and some of us just like very colorful and detailed designs and seasonal planners. YOU CANNOT TRY TO PLEASE ALL of THESE PEOPLE WITHIN THE SAME PLANNER. The neutral planners are not neutral enough and the colorful ones are not detailed and colorful enough. Combining these concepts in one planner is not the way to go. For each planner fully commit to the theme and if you have to cut costs then make less Planners in total I guess. I used to buy a seasonal planner each year but the past 2 or three releases have had lackluster designs. The seasonal illustrations themselves are now much less detailed and the dashboards do not follow the theme of the divider like they used to. In addition to this the monthly view no longer has cute designs in the holiday squares or a holiday theme in general. A good seasonal I remember was the 18month July 2018-December 2019 horizontal classic that said “Do more of what makes you happy “ on the cover. It had great seasonal detail throughout every page. I would have loved it more if it were vertical but aside from that it was perfect. If I saw it today I would repurchase. Another way I enjoy seasonal is with photographs but please always continue the seasonal theme within the dashboard, monthly page and weekly pages. For 2019 you put out a seasonal with the bouquet of flowers in the shape of a heart on the cover and it had beautiful photographs inside but the dashboards looked like they didn’t belong in there (generic) and the weekly and monthly had zero seasonal detail. So for those reasons I did not purchase this planner even though seasonal is my favorite type of planner. Your designs now look very generic. Like you’ve lost the very thing that made these planners unique and stand out from other companies. Plain planners are a dime a dozen out there. Don’t lose that attention to detail. Also, I too miss seeing the monthly layout in this release. I’ve purchased three monthly layouts since they’ve been for sale. I also love the classic vertical layout, the dashboard, horizontal and hourly. I use several layouts every day for different purposes but I only decorate ONE planner. That’s why I want the detail to already be in the planner. No black and white weekly pages for me! EVERY OTHER PLANNER COMPANY DOES THAT. When I found happy planner the detail in the weekly and monthly etc is what motivated me to come back to my planner. All those other boring black and white interior planner always got abandoned. Don’t release all of your planners like this.

None of these planners are my cup of tea, and why can we not get a truely neutral ( black and white, and gray) dashboard planner, why do they keep doing that colored box in the upper left hand corner? Disappointed in the mom planner. I'm very hard-pressed to find a classic vertical and mini horizontal that I like from this release. I didn't mind some of the covers, but then their layouts were wrong for me. I wish you would come up with a way to sell covers/dividers separate from the weekly spread pages so we had the option to put our preferred layout with a cover of our choosing.

As much as I had loved the brand and the planners...I decided to switch to digital planning or bullet journaling. It is a little more customizable and less expensive. As a college student, it is hard for me to choose a planner that has the dividers, layout, AND cover that I like. I have seen people buy multiple and create what they wanted...but, again...college student. It is difficult to even buy one :( I hope that there is more of a customizable option and maybe something geared more towards college students as the student ones seem a little more teenish than adult.

Check out their Instagram for all the details. This is why I want to see them before I go and buy from this line cause I won't be buying 2 planners and only use one. Its a waste of money

Happy Planner Please start selling covers with the dividers separately. Also sell the different planner layouts separately (dashboard, vertical, horizontal). At this point you have a huge following and we want to be able to customize our planners. I like many of the covers/dividers but don't like the planner layout. Please hear our voice and follow suit. Sadly, I’m disappointed. Only 1 horizontal option and no monthly (my best planner for work). I waited all year in anticipation of the new girl line, only for it to be revamped repeats of last year. I’m hoping additional options will come out before January, or I will have to look at another company to meet my needs. I love HP, so I’m hoping something else is coming out.

Some of these planner are so childish, and most of the dividers don't even match, what the heck were they thinking. I was so looking forward to this release since last one i couldn't find much for me, but it looks like I won't be getting one this year.

I think instead of investing time and expensing buyers on sticker books..... maybe invest some more time in planners: The Mini HP is LACKING this year.... barely any....and one choice of a dashboard layout in a MINI HAPPY PLANNER. Also what happened with the Vertical Lined Classic. I was seriously excited about getting one of those for the first time. Not sure what I'm going to do - and the covers aren't that spectacular. I'm disappointed....sorry Happy Planner...I guess I'll suck it up and maybe choose one or just stick to my Law of Attraction Planner this year.

Oh Happy Planner, you need to do better. You continue to put out planner designs that are more appropriate for teenagers than adults. The 2021 lineup is once AGAIN an overload of way too bright colors & pastel/baby nursery color patterns that are not appropriate for anyone who wants to use your product in a professional environment or anyone with a more neutral preference of colors. You either need to change your business model to one that caters to a much younger planner or your creative team needs to get a clue. Lastly - please call your “Faith Planner” what it really is. It is a “Christian Faith Planner”. It erroneously assumes if you’re a person of faith then you’re a Christian. People of other faiths cannot use this planner and quite frankly it makes me question how inclusive your company is.
