I guess in the end it all comes down to your own perception. I have never once owned a jeep and only ever had a new car once. I got my 4xe rubicon and it feels like the lap of luxury to me. I freaking love it - sound system, interior, electric… i love it.

When I retire and I live in wilderness just 5 miles from stores, hospital, golf courses, and rec trails (old RR grades), I will be able to do everything I need and 95% of what I want in this vehicle including plow snow off my driveway in UP of Michigan - 100% electrical. At that point in my life, this will be perfect, barely ever needing any gas. Until then, with a 40 mile one-way to work every morning, twice the electric range, its not the best choice for that, but then again, here in Arizona, for now, the Rubicon capabilities make it perfect for my 3 day weekends, so, it IS perfect, for me, single, engineer, no kids, not taking any of the $money it cost away from them to buy it or fuel it, so, it works for me, not for everyone.

I've been able to get some 25-26 miles out of my Rubicon on some warmer days. MPG varies. I've hit 22, but now that the car is lifted and has 35" tires.... (which I just put on) I'm not sure. Heard a 10% expected drop in range/fuel economy? So Yeah. I"m expecting about 20 miles range, maybe 19, and about 18-19 mpg?

it is so sad how many people do not understand the benefit of plugin hybrid. I met one owner of 4xe that never charges the battery, its almost like people are unable to understand the purpose of it.

My current commute is just 15 km's or 9.32 miles (from leaving my house to returning); I don't do long trips other than 1 or 2 major camping trips a year, yes my mpg will take a bit of a hit during those trips for the rest of the year I'll be fine and although I live in a colder climate (-45 c with a wind chill is not a surprise here) I'm going to be quite happy with my 2022 Rubicon 4Xe, I'm waiting for the vin number and order confirmation this week from the dealership. If someone can answer this question for me: I'm trying to find confirmation that rust proofing is ok for hybrid vehicles, the hiways here are COATED in salt, I want to protect my investment from road salt and would like to hear from others who have had rust proofing done to their 4Xe. Thank you

I’m waiting for something like this, a plug in hybrid, that can actually tow. A plug in F150 would be nice. The powerboost hybrid they currently have isn’t that great on fuel. A diesel is more efficient.

Good video, butI don’t understand why everyone sets it to Electric and runs it out rather than just selecting hybrid and letting it rip. I find that after going through the top of the battery, mine will use both and the MPG moves up into th 25-26 range.

Because if you're going to drive it less than 20 miles, you'll use exclusively electricity which is cheaper to "refill" than gasoline.
@mervyndelatorre10 ай бұрын
@@DailyMotorExactly, if your daily commute is under 20 miles round trip, you could drive for days/weeks as long as you recharge the battery after each trip.

Unfortunately you are comparing mileage and noise when driving in residential areas to driving on the highway. Of course the results are wildly different. All cars have differences between 35 and 72 MPH. It would be nice to see a test using the same parameters...

I wonder if you can you still put performance/fuel eco mods on the 2.0 in the 4xe? Like exhaust, intake, charge pipe, BOV, piggyback tuner?

Nice review. I’m thinking about one of these as my next adventure rig/commuter. But dang, I drive a 2018 WK2 Trailhawk right now and I think I would miss the highway ride and steering precision! The cost you pay for solid axle off road performance.

I’ve had a lot of great driving vehicles: BMW, Mercedes, Jag., Volvo, and most recently a Porsche Macan. I enjoy my 4xe above any other vehicle I’ve had. Driving pleasure doesn’t have to come from exceptional steering/handling/transmission.

That seemed like a piss poor time. Your steering correction on the highway was… what’s up with Jeep’s steering ??? The cabin was loud as hell too. The MPG was horrendous as all hell too. The wind affected your driving as well. Is this because of its square shape? Tell me; if this rolls over due to wind, will it crush like a can or is it safe ?
@brettlarson912 Жыл бұрын
You must be very new to Wranglers 😅 No offense intended. But yes, wranglers are notorious for requiring “active steering” - a nice way of saying that the steering is vague and the vehicle requires constant attention and correction from the driver to maintain a straight course at higher speeds. On volume… yes… the cabin is loud… It’s got a removable roof & removable doors. On MPG - if this is a main concern, a Jeep Wrangler is probably not what you should be looking at. The brick like shape isn’t aerodynamic (wind resistance has effect on MPG), large tires, heavy, niche and less conventional style hybrid style system with low electric range… As for wind and the effect it has on the vehicle, see the last point. A very square vehicle will be more susceptible to wind interference than something that is aerodynamically designed, so yes you would be fighting the wind often enough in a Wrangler/Bronco shaped vehicle. The Wrangler has decent rollover safety but abysmal safety in other categories such as front overlap. Based on your surprise at a few of these items I would suggest you really dig in and do some research on this vehicle if you’re considering it. There are many compromises that come with driving a solid front axle, boxy off roader as a daily driver on the highway.

I think it's a weird hybrid system. The battery never recharged from the engine like most other hybrids from Toyota and Honda do. So it looks like the only way to charge it is by plugging in it. Doesn't really seem to practical, probably good for daily driving if you can plug it in every night, but Jeep needs to come up with a better hybrid system, not worth the price in my opinion.

The thing is wranglers are notorious for terrible safety rating. They get crinkled like an aluminum foil. I say this because with hybrids and electric cars, if the battery gets damaged in anyway when you car gets totaled or damaged, your car will be worthless when it comes to insurance pay out. I say this from real life experience. Teslas are fine because they have really good safety rating (one of the best). I’d just opt for a 3.6 gas. 20 miles on battery is pretty low, I would barely consider it a hybrid. Only a hybrid by technicality at that point

21.6 on electricity only!!!???? Why even buy a hybrid? That's terrible. With roughly 300 miles on the gas power engine and roughly 300 miles on an electric engine why bother getting the hybrid if it's only gonna give you just 20 miles over what you would on a regular gas engine that makes absolute zero senzero cents
@johnnyreb862 жыл бұрын
That’s why PHEVs have a hard time, most people are too dense to understand their purpose. I drive 15 miles round trip to work, so I’d never use gas day to day. Then when I want to do a road trip I’m not limited by battery range and charge time, just gas up and go. Electric car for commuting and gas car for long trips.
