I love my Wrangler 4xe! I've had it 6 weeks now and have 1,136 miles in electric and only 98 miles on the gas engine and have a little under 3/4 of a tank of gas still left from when I picked it up from the dealership. Also on this I am averaging 36 miles all electric with max regen on all the time. With the $7,500 tax credit used as a down payment on my lease it was a no brainer to trade in my 2018 Wrangler for the 4xe. The amount I am going to save in gas a year is well worth it and so far it's cost me $45 to charge for the time I've had it. I am not sure why the cost of this vehicle is such a big factor anyhow. My previous Sahara Unlimited Wrangler was $55K in 2018 and this one was $57k so not much of a change. No one is getting a brand new Wrangler for $27k lets be real.

Looking at Jeep website the Wrangler sport 2 door (base model) starts at $28.9k. The Sahara 4-door IC with no additional packages is $39.5k, The 4xE Sahara is listed at 49.8. So the markup on the Sahara 4xE is $10k. If you check the standard features of the Sahara 4xE vs. IC, the phev does include a few package items as standard. (LED headlights and deluxe infotainment) If you calculate that in the difference between the two models for a comparably speced vehicle is more like $7k. I am not a Jeep owner, however I have been researching vehicles for a future purchase, and the 4xE is one I have been considering,

Great review. A lot of great content in a short amount of time. Great job. The apps can be moved and put on the task bar in the screen. So that one that’s buried can be moved. Agreed on that white on the inside of the hard top. I had the same thoughts. So true about how it feels. It’s buttery smooth compared to other Wranglers. The added weight really helps smooth things out. There’s more to the price tag than the hybrid system. If you equip a gas Wrangler with all of the other standard features found on the 4XE, the price difference is less than $3,000. There are a lot of standard features in the 4XE that are optional on the gas models. Then when you add the $7500 federal tax credit, it actually comes out cheaper than a comparably equipped gas model. There is a clarification to made about the MPGe rating. That is not a combined hybrid gas mileage. MPGe is an efficiency rating applied to electrified vehicles ONLY when they are in electric mode. The Wrangler 4XE will not get 50MPG. MPGe isn’t MPG in any way. The formula used to establish MPGe doesn’t include any gas.

I love my 4xe! they are sold out of the 2021. They also sold more than the Prius. Market value is around 60,000 now and they are still selling.

How do you compare a 4xE to a base 2 door sport? When compared to comparably equipped Sarah unlimited price is very similar (even without the 7500 tax savings). My guess by the number of wranglers I see on the road is that Jeep sells a lot more of Sarah's then they do the 2 door base wrangler sport.

7500 tax rebate and many options are included vs the base. Oh also leases are in the 350-400 a month range with a good dealer.

Yeah plus I don't think you should compare the price of a base Wrangler Unlimited Sport to the Sahara 4xe, if you compare a normal Sahara with a 4xe Sahara and deduct the tax rebate, the 4xe actually should be cheaper.

Nice review however you are comparing apples to oranges regarding the price. $28,000 and change is for the very basic 2 door sport. The gas Sahara starts at over $39000. Add $10K for the hybrid. Subtract State and federal credits and the 4xe is almost the same price. A few other picky things; 49 MPGe is not a combined MPG, it is the EPA doing it’s bureaucratic measurement of electric power required to be the equivalent of 1 gallon then combined. I’ve seen other videos saying drivers are getting MPGs in the mid to high 30s without regard to electricity costs. You need to read up on regenerative braking. It has nothing to do with brakes. The electric motor provides braking while becoming a generator. It is aggressive. True “one pedal driving” will bring you to a stop, if I remember right the 4xe turns off regen at about 3-5 MPH.

Hey man, so if price-wise the wrangler isn’t worth it to you, what car with similar features would you recommend instead at the same price or lower? I’m asking cause my wife and I got one on order at the dealership and as far as it’s functionality, it’s almost perfect for us but it’s be nice to get something similar for less. Our first choice was the Rav-4 prime but in the North mid-west, dealerships can’t even order it for customers at all.

Hey, thanks for the question. There aren’t many options as capable as the wrangler (especially available in hybrid), so if you would like the off road capabilities, you don’t really have a lot of options. The price is too high compared to a standard wrangler. If you do not care about the hybrid aspect, the Land Rover defender is a little more pricey but offers a bit more as far as daily use and luxury. Consider it if the price works. Keep me posted!
