Thanks again, I'm changing the transmission fluid now and the rear differential fluid. I just went to the dealer because the cost of the Kawasaki 80w90 isn't that bad. The one they gave me has the limited slip additive, but isn't required. It won't hurt a transmission or differential that doesn't need the additive, but something that does require it will be bad if it didn't have it. Have a good day.

When inspecting the trans fluid should I leave the engine run for a bit or check it while the engine is cold

To inspect i would do it cold. To drain it i would run it a little to get anything that has settled to the bottom to suspend in the oil. Warm oil will drain faster also.

I see that had limited slip additive does that bother your transmission in a negative way ?

I don't think there is any issue with it. there are no clutches in the 300s trans and I haven't heard that LS additives are a problem with gears and bearings. I took a quick look at Kawasaki's stuff and they sell an 80w-90 with LS additives and state it can also be used in gear cases that don't require it. So I wouldn't worry about it. www.kawasaki.com/en-us/shop/maintenance-products/towing/K61030007A/kawasaki-gear-oil-with-limited-slip-additive hope this helps.

@@thestuffwedowithron1768 thanks man yes this helps a lot I got the fluids to do my services and they gave me the 80W-90 with the LS additive I knew it was ok to use in the final drive case but I wasn’t sure about the tranny

What oil did u use ?

I used 80W-90 API GL-5 rated oil. Castrol brand was what I had on hand. The manual recommends high quality straight 90W oil. No specific rating otherwise that I can remember.

Hi, I am assuming that you are talking about this oil. rimmerbros.com/Item--i-TYK500010 It is no longer on Castrol's sight so I could only find it here. If the specs they list are correct I think it will be fine as it matches the spec of Kawasaki's gear oil. www.kawasaki.ca/en-ca/shop/maintenance/oil-and-lubricants/20457/kawasaki-75w90-final-drive-lsd-fluid-_-1-litre I would be a little concerned about it being 75w90 rather than 80w90 or a straight 90 weight oil. Especially if you are riding in hot climates. The manual recommends a straight 90 weight oil so using anything but that you are taking the risk of your choice. I cant guarantee that there won't be an issue so use it at your own risk.

Shit! Gotta change engine AND separate Trans fluids, not all in one, like every other bike I've owned? As we speak, waiting for my new 300 to be delivered, haven't riden it outside a lot. Likely I'll be the Guy who runs it till...it doesn't, I'm old and nobody here helps me. I'll subscribe just in case I do do anything. Lol. Peace
