@@nycitylifeandhistory He was 15:1 in the morning line at TVG when I placed my wager. He went off at 12:1. I actually collected 12.1:1. He was better than the listed 15:1 odds when I wagered, but the odds always change and no one can know how they will. Sadly they went down for him by post time. Happily, not too much.

My father was Bill white the leading trainer at Calder race course & gulfstream Park. Johnny V always won-races for him. First class jockey. I also remember in 2002 meeting Bob Baffert at the haskell My dad’s horse was running against War emblem, what a time! To see that there all still going strong after all these years is incredible.

Hi I'm from Mauritius island i love bob baffret horse i was sure he will win as medina spirit won a race before when he resist in the final stretch well and did the same in the Kentucky derby again .yipee

Awesome ; I'll be honest w/ u ; as much as a love Baffert , I couldn't figure MS out ; in my podcasts , I thought his speed figs were dropping w/ added distance , but failed 2 see , his worst number was better than a lot of the fields best , along w/ the idea of going 2 the front ; I thought w/ the abundance of speed , his best chance 2 run Top 4 was to hang back , stalk & pounce , but he proved otherwise & he improved ; I think he had a small throat surgery after the SA Derby ; I may be wrong on that , but one thing's 4 sure consistency & slight improvement will pay off ; I think he got a 102 , 103 Beyer Speed Figure ; Exciting stretch run, and Baffert was just that ; very excited , and grateful .. Just " re - read " the start of yr text ; Meeting Baffert in 02 was the 1st year of his marriage 2 Jill ; And your dad was leading trainer @ Calder & Gulfstream , correct ?

@@csracingreport2024 sorry for the typos! I was speaking into my phone. I’m 31. 2002 I was 12 or 13.. Cornelio Velasquez rode my dads horse named Puck in the Haskell. Unfortunately Puck broke his leg coming down the stretch with War Emblem - we had a shot! Despite breaking his leg he ran 4 out of 5 or 6 horses. Unfortunately freak accidents happen like that all the time. Johnny V would come to Gulfstream sometimes Calder he would have no mounts while he was vacationing in south Florida he would drop everything he was doing just to ride for my dad - he won just about Everytime. My dad put 40 hard years in as being a trainer, had 22 Consecutive leading trainer titles. He is now Mayor in north Florida. Bob Baffert along with Johnny V have “the it factor” If you come into this business giving it your all working 365 days a year And absolutely loving what you do you’re increases of luck will change because owners with a lot of money will give you a lot of nice horses. The more horses and quality of them give you big chances like these. I heard Bob and Johnny Mention that they are getting old but I kid you not they look exactly the same from when I saw them growing up as a kid going to the track with my dad every day.

@@lbabytutorials4852 I have that Haskell on my old VHS tapes , but can't recall yr Dad's colt getting hurt , but you're right ; people 4 get Bob B came from a horse family, rode, did the Quarter Horse thing , developed low priced and / or modestly bred types ; they ( the horses ) don't know how much they cost and MS ran like a million dollar purchase that can actually run , because , as u know, as a racing fan so many expensive ones don't pan out ..

With so much publicity around the treatment of racehorses and breakdowns being heavily monitored(As they should be) these races are more about pace and speed than full on blast out sprint to the end. Great race by all.

Congrats to all the connections!! I was rooting for Medina Spirit the entire time when other people doubted him!! Watching the race I literally had tears in my eyes because I was so happy for this horse. He's so determined and has such guts and grit and like Bob said his heart's bigger than his body. And you can truly see that in the way he races! Bob you're an amazing trainer and I have nothing but respect for you and what you've accomplished!!

Rock Your World, broke slow then got sandwiched by Essential Quality to his inside and the horse to his outside, never got a chance to run his race. Hoping RYW and Medina Spirit hook up again in the Preakness. Really believe RYW was the horse to beat in the derby and now the Preakness. Score 1-1

Everything had to go his way and everything did. #17 rammed into Rock your World right at the start. What I would really love to understand is how is it year after year they see Baffert's horse and John V. in the front, and nobody, and I mean nobody, wants to even consider pushing the pace. Gaffalione, you want to be a superstar jockey? Soup and Sandwich needs to take the lead and needs to go 22.5, 45.4, 1.10.6...etc. Idiot. Soft pace. You put a horse like Caddo River in the front and you can clearly see what happens to Baffert's so-called superstars.
