For extra power go the diesel... petrol is 135kws 237nm Diesel is 136kw but 400nm ... you be surprised how much better for overtaking and fuel economy.

Or the 1.6 T petrol 130/265 , consumes less that the 2.4L but has the grunt of the diesel since it is turbocharged.

The 2.0 litre diesel used by Kia/Hyundai is the better option. Way more power and better fuel economy too. Great review though. Keep up the good work

For power put it in sport mode or pull the shift lever over to sportmatic Where you can get the revs up these cars have GDI engines and they like to be wound up it keeps them from getting carbond up.

Do aussies get the 2.0 turbo engine option?I'm pretty happy with the power and torque that my 2017 sportage puts out.

IMO these are best with the diesel engine. The petrol does feel a bit gutless at times with it's lack of low down torque. Moon boot, sneakers, back in moon boot... But still 👌🏻 Make sure CA don't let you go to 7 News or 9 News.

The new Ford Escape is cheaper $41k and has 182kw 387nm. More fuel, but damn it’s fast! Drives pretty nice for a soccer mum car but enjoyable for the dad boy racer. And has all the electronics you can think of
