I feel like 2021 music in general (not just in Kpop but in western music as well) was a dud. There were some exceptions that stood out to me but most new releases just didn’t make an impression on me. But things started to spice up a bit up later in the year which gives me hope for 2022!

Until you mentioned Hwaa. HWAA???? I'm just so shocked cuz I personally haven't come across anyone who dislikes the song. I never thought of Hwaa as a song that some people actually wouldn't like. What I agree with you on: ping pong (kinda ig, haven't really listened to it enough, the chorus is good tho), spicy, butter, asap (It's definitely not my fav, but I still listen to it), I'm not cool, what type of x, permission to dance, and shark. All the rest are bops imo, especially (from what I can remember that you said in the video); hot sauce, DFTF, sticker, bicycle, PTT, and loco

I agree that permission to dance was not good. I don’t like Ed Sheeran’s music, and I think he was heavily involved in that song so that’s probably why. But I loved Butter!! That one was genuinely good!! It could have used more parts for the rappers, but other than that, just a really solid song.
