This video is a must watch for those that are considering getting into a ADV bike purchase. Now that HD has released their version of an adventure bike bieng the "Pan America", KTM has been ahead leading that race for years, and still is the clear winner.

Bought this bike & so-far done 17kkm. Money could but happiness & you get tons of it on 1290s. Not without its flaws but nothing that cant be sorted. Bike is near perfect.🥰

That’s a nice big screen, but this is a question to anyone who knows: For simple maintenance (IE: oil change) is it necessary to own a special code reader or have a dealership turn off the great big screen’s “service” notification?

Bike improvements sound amazing, great job KTM, One question, 5 KTM 1290’s owner here including super dukes and adventures, has the frond end been reinforced for vibrations? Like for the gps mount and head area? Previous models shake a lot, I would recommend a metal brace like the 1250 GS.

With regards to the MyRide pairing: I notice on the TFT screen a 'Headset Type' - do you pair the Cardo Headset to that, or does Helmet set stay paired to phone and phone pairs to KTM?

It would have been great if the bike had been fitted with the blind spot monitoring system that you have been testing with the ACC. With the use of the new LED screen etc, where is the Apple Car play, cause the KTM My Ride System is very limiting and still only using Bluetooth rather than WIFI. So when you say that its the most technologically advanced bike is not quite true! That is why I'm having second thoughts about the new KTM 1290 and seriously thinking about the Ducati Multistrada V4.

In a position to purchase either an African Twin or the Adventure S and as a Canadian, I asked KTM Canada this very question. Their curt response was, “Ask your dealership.” Sure glad I found out what KTM’s corporate support looks like before I committed!

We wish the software and separate pack sold are stabled and no glitch when fully utilizing the system despite thousand km tested. Overall this revision is superb. The last thing we want to hear, the comfort overall, easily beat GS.

The radar system and overtake assist is crap. Multiple flaws that arise if you actually think about it. There are times when you plan to overtake and suddenly from the opposite direction there's another vehicle coming up on you.. There's milliseconds of time to even react.. how's the radar system gonna react or the overtake system stop? + Multiple moments when these systems might even malfunction and automatically move the bike ahead or stop it.

It's already mine. Great bike only one thing irritates me about it: turn signal switch. Immediately improve !!! It worked much better in the old one.

sorry to say but, 1. buffeting is terrible 2. It will cook your knees like a boerewors braai, 3. the lights are terrible, even pointless. the rest is true

Overweight and overpriced, the cast wheels version is more use, while off-road the Super Adventure R is just is too heavy, like a 1250 GS, and the headlight is polarising in daft design.
