I like it, but JLR should throw in $1000 in Uber credits with every new car so you can still get around while its in the shop.

I simply do not understand how this costs $67k instead of $40-45k looking at that interior, the options, the packaging, the road noise, etc. Can't believe I'm saying this but a 4Runner has a nicer/quieter interior.

I was fully expecting this to be $80k, but *for a Land Rover* $65k seems reasonable. That's right up there with high-spec Broncos or Diesel Rubicons.

First thing that caught my eye was that oddly shaped and placed shift lever... otherwise the interior seems pretty nice. Exterior styling is kinda iffy. Its a bit oddly shaped in the front and back. However I do think it's great that it doesn't look like everything else on the road. It definitely has its own appearance.

I had one of these as a loaner while my Jag was in service for routine maintenance. I like it. The one I was issued had the 4-cyl engine, which IMO has NO business in this vehicle. It had no torque, and was underpowered and the throttle response had this annoying lag which I found rather unsafe, as the car couldnt seem to "keep up" with quick manuvers that are sometimes needed in Chicago city traffic. Outside of the performance, the rest of the Defender was downright EXCELLENT. I love this SUV (the 4 door model). I also noticed that the steering had this "slow" feel to it. It's like you could only turn the wheel so fast because of how its weighted - interesting. That characteristic gives the Defender a solid, planted, secure feeling. Hopefully these turn out to be reliable. I know that's sort of a soft spot for LR. If it means anything, though, my F-Pace R-Sport has been flawless. I wonder if we will get a Defender Sport with a V8...

Be real with me people, I am really considering a defender but I’m planning on putting it to its limit, I plan on towing a Mobile kitchen across multiple states, for vacationing for 3 people, and practical enough to have a shop, so what I want to know from defender owners that is it reliable enough to do those things?

After watching my dad put 200k miles (and counting) on his 2011 LR4, the new Land Rovers just don’t seem to do it for me anymore. Sidebar: I might be crazy, but the new ones look like an LR4 had a one night stand with a Kia Soul (which is kinda bad on the LR4 to be fair)…

Can't wait for people who've never owned a JLR product to say how unreliable it is because they watched a youtube video about one being broken
@lukeheffernan2 жыл бұрын
JLR consistently ranks near the bottom of reliability ratings. I've never owned one (true to your comment), but several family members have. Some have loved theirs; I'll give you that, but they've ALL had reliability problems even with meticulous maintenance. Maybe their electric models will prove to be more reliable.

@@jackkruese4258 It really is their technology that fails more so than their mechanics, so that makes sense. Take a look at TFL (the fast lane car) -- they bought a new Defender, multiple actually - and they were all ridden with technological issues. Now personally I'd never buy any car that close to its redesign date, but still. Too much technology is never good!
