Hired one of these for a few days, very nice to drive and quiet and comfortable. Quite brisk for its power output and handles well. Only complaint I would have is it’s necessary to slam the doors to close them.

I'm seriously considering this for my van build. I've done some price comparisons with other vans. With this van, I can budget $15k and there's still a few a couple of $ks from the nearest one which was a fiat. Another person said that it feels very much like the Ford Transit when they road tested and because there were no Ford in stock, they decided to get this one instead and were very happy with it. With it in the market for a few years now, I'm sure they've improved on a few things. Once I get a remote job on a full time basis, I'll get one of this to convert.

LDV only offering Apple connectivity is a huge oversight. 2 androids to every apple phone sold and the gap is widening. Smarter to have both or just Android. This oversight is equivalent to making RHD cars only as the stats are similar. What were they thinking?

Am guessing Apple pay LDV to include Apple car play as a last ditch effort to decrease their spiralling down market share whilst Android charge LDV as they have the lions share of cellphone market.

Hopefully reliability will be good. The V80 was quite poor for reliability in the UK with many people having lots of problems in first year and even first few months

@@hclandscapes many people have been saying that they have had lots of build quality issues. As well as mechanical issues. Also oil leaks. I'm not to sure about the brand new V80s as they might have fixed these issues. But a few years ago people reported problems.

Im wondering if they could improve the door closing. Have to slam the hell out of the side door. Its very bad. I had a 2011 Nissan van and it had soft close.

I also reviewed the Maxus eDeliver 9 (electric version) in my channel! I have to say it is very promising, but it seriously needs and identity of its own, because at first I almost mistook it for a Ford Transit. The van seems well-built, nothing in the interior wobbles, everything is solid. But the QUALITY of the material is a different story.

I bought LDV V80 in 2017. Pros: 1. Shape and size of luggage compartment. Perfect for work. 2. Higher ground clearance than any other commercial van I have seen. It doesn’t hit the curbs. 3. Price, very cheap (I mean purchasing price, in long run it is different) 4. Comes with two sliding doors at both the sides and barn doors at the back. CONs: Everything else. Too long to list here

Use a few of these in our camper company, spends 6 months of the year at the dealer due to gearbox issues and 3 months in rust repairs. Best to drive it into a ditch and claim insurance.

Have had many LDV’s now at work and they are impressive equipment for the money and replaced every few years anyway. Resale/trade in hasn’t been an issue for the boss because they get used. Hit with forklifts and driven by staff that don’t treat them like they own them. No major failures, the v80 is the oldest in the fleet 180,000kms - drive it to Sydney and back to melbourne easy. Noisy but it chugged along and was pretty efficient for high roof box on wheels. They have improved the deliver 9 so much compared to v80

I'd like to know if the chassis is long lasting. I.e. will it last from offroad use? Will it rust if exposed to sea winds or water? Aluminium or steal structure? Can it be upgraded to electric later?

@@randygoldberg8753 Thanks for that. I asked a guy a few weeks ago, and his complaint with them was that 'the transmission slips' ad-hoc. All up, it seems like 'poor quality control' across the whole product. with a thousand (?) parts, you might expect any number of problems, and come to expect insolvent local distributors, possibly with no recourse back to China.

@@AndrewSheldon Thank you. John Cadogan has done extensive work on investigating LDV. The recent Australian High Court ruling was that LDV are made from poor quality steel. The steel is both weak and it begins rusting immediately that the LDV's are made. Cadogan is an engineer. He made it clear that LDV vehicles should never be purchased in Australia.

@@randygoldberg8753 I get the sense the problem is wider still. I.e. in NZ, and online I find anecdotal evidence of transmission issues as well. Slipping transmission. There does remain a question as to whether these issues have been remedied. You might expect that to take time. I don't know the age of the vehicles concerned.

I honestly had to pause the video when you stated a service interval of 12 months/30,000km, that is quite frankly ludicrous, especially for what is a business oriented vehicle where safety is considered. I would suppose that that service interval comes with an asterisk denoting if you actually use your van within that period for anything at all then get more regular attention.

Thats correct I had an iload and it noted that heavy or excessive duties, service intervals were half the kilometres and time frame as standard life

That's actually quite a short interval. Many new vans are 2 years / 25,000 miles (40,000km)

I prefer this - do most of the servicing your self (oil and filter every 10k kms) and take it to the stealership much less often while keeping your original manafacturers warranty in tact

You did no stabillity test with 1400 kg at medium speed (120 km/h). How does it react to avoid a child or animal crossing the road. Include that in your next tests.

Suspension seats are amazing. Was driving our company's old sprinter and then tried the newer VW with the bouncy seat. I thought I wouldn't like it but I actually found myself searching for bigger bumps in the road to use the suspension!

Resale value would be poor .2litre would be reving hard to moove that hevy van diesel motor to small and underpowered so in time it would wear iut fast thay have lots of problems and consider the size of tbe motor fuel consumption is poor its a throw away van three years lets face it when spending 50 plus grand its a short term van .and he keeps going on about the price remember you only get what you pay for and its bludy loud in the cabin
