I use the little giant for lockdown. I use turkey baster to add water through the vent holes where I removed the red plugs. I keep a little dish with a sponge in it under one of the vent holes.

I can't believe FI left the controller open to all that humidity inside the box and then warn that they aren't responsible if you get the humidity too high and fry the controller. Some genius over there thinks it's ok to expose circuit boards to that kind of environment and then not offer replacements when they die. That's a solid business model. I would suggest immediately sealing that puppy up with silicon grease.

Thanks for the comparison. I'll be getting 1 of the 2 when my Wyandottes start to lay. Kinda leaning towards the Farm Innovators. Keep us updated.

Thanks for watching. Yeah, I’m liking the Farm Innovators incubator a bit more due to the ports for adding water and the larger window. If they perform equally, then farm innovators is a much better value. We will see!

If you choose the farm innovators use the bottom BACKWARDS. It has a front and back to the bottom. Read and follow the hatching instructions BUT USE #2 filling hole only pre-lockdown. It's too wet if you follow their instructions. My mentor discovered by accident to incubate with the bottom backwards. Use #2 fill hole ...not #1. Higher hatch rate I've tried it both ways. 😉

I have 2 incubators one of each. My farm inn. doesn't have the turner. I use the little giant the first 18 days, and let them hatch in the farm Inn. Then one incubator has never been hatched in.

Are the two turners from the Little Giant and the Farm Innovators the same in size and shape?
@ScaleModelAddicts Жыл бұрын
Yes, they are generally cross compatible.

I put a little tempture gage at the bottom of my 42(0 farm innovator. It said 90.5 and the reading on top said 99.5?? Which reading should I go by??

I would go by the top thermometer, if you’re using an automatic turner. This is because heat cycles upward, so it will naturally be a lower temperature toward the bottom of the box. Also, thanks to the egg turner, the eggs sit about an inch off of the floor of the incubator. The Farm Innovators thermometer hangs right above the eggs, but it doesn’t make contact so it gets a pretty good reading. Also there is not as much air circulation beneath the eggs, so yes it could actually be that temperature. I still wouldn’t ignore your additional thermometer though. Try moving it around or taping it to a wall so that it’s halfway between the top and bottom to see if you see a difference. If the bottom is always that much colder, I could suggest placing a towel beneath the incubator to try to add additional insulation. The foam that came with the retail packaging would also work for this. Let me know if any of this works for you. I haven’t had that issue yet, but I’ll try it out myself too. Thanks for keeping me active!

The FI incubator gets hot in the corners especially by the egg turner motor. The temp swings at the corners is more extreme than the center. If it were somehow egg shaped would work better thermally. Eggubator?

which is good the one that you made or the one you bought?

It depends on what you intend to do with it. If you’re looking to hatch thousands of eggs, the cabinet style is undoubtedly better, but requires more space and maintenance. When I had a wiring issue with my heating element due to loose wires, I had difficulty moving my incubator out of its place in my small office to work on it. The incubators I purchased are plug and play, and fit almost anywhere, in comparison. I liked that I didn’t have to do anything but put the eggs in and wait until lockdown to remove the turner. I built the cabinet incubator and Hatcher combo for around $400 and they are capable of hatching thousands per month, as long as I have the time to supervise the sensors to make sure all is good. I spent about $400 on 2 forced air incubators and 2 still air incubators for a total of 4 incubators. I only recommend still air incubators if you are going to add a fan, converting it to forced air. This combo of incubators is only capable of hatching out about 300 per month, and that’s with perfect fertility. So there is more value in the cabinet incubator if your intention is to incubate large amounts. Otherwise the Farm Innovators 4250 is my favorite premade incubator so far, and a better deal than the little giant deluxe.

What temperature do you have it set on

Google is your friend for this one as it depends on the type of bird. For example, ducks and chickens need around 98.7-99.9 (F), while others need different temps for different times.
