We just bought a CX-5 Signature. We watched many videos before buying the car. This video is excellent, so helpful, both before buying and after. Although the guys at the dealership were very helpful in showing us how to use all of the features, you never learn everything until you actually have the car at home to yourself. This video helps so much after purchase to learn how to use so many of the features. I have to agree that the seats are not going to be nicely comfortable to everyone, but to my wife and I they are very very good. Mike is right, the leg room for the driver on the right side is a bit cramped, but not enough to reject the car - seems OK to me. And there is no issue on the passenger side - more than enough room. We have another car purchased 2 years ago that is much more expensive, and we like this Mazda just as much.

I recently got a CX-5 and love it. Wish you had taken it on the road for part of your review, because a huge asset for this car is how well it drives. It takes turns like it’s on rails. As a Mazda 3 2019 owner, in this color, I can say that as beautiful as this color is, it's way too weak/soft. Almost anything that hits the front end of the car while driving, bird shit left unwiped will leave a mark or chip the clear coat/paint. The best when choosing this color is to take the car straight from the dealership to a body shop and apply a protective transparent foil on it. My next car will be a CX-5 and I will stick with this color but I will take into account already the money for applying a protective film on the car. It's a must, also on the headlights.
@barborabrnak18873 жыл бұрын
The red colour is the most attention catching shade you see on roads. However, when I was looking at Mazdas as a potential brand for my new vehicle, they advised me at the dealership that it chips. That alone put me off.
@teemcshanney89102 жыл бұрын
What's protective "foil?" I've heard of films and ceramic coatings only. I would never apply any sort of metallic finish to paint, and it's never been mentioned in any of the many many car videos I have seen so I'm not clear on what you're talking about.
@coopidon2 жыл бұрын
@@teemcshanney8910 I am not a native English speaker so maybe the terms I have used are not that technical. What I mean was to apply transparent protective car wrap. There are various car wraps that can be applied, they don't harm the paint, they are transparent and colourless. There is a type which can even heal minor scratches when left under the sun.

@@2004cyrus Agree. I want to lease too but I’ve never done it.
@2004cyrus2 жыл бұрын
@@marilynm9100 I’m on my 3rd lease. I love it. Gives me the option to trade into a new car every 3 years without ever being upside down. Or if you love the car you can finance it when the lease is up. But with leasing I don’t have to worry about ever being without warranty and having repairs to deal with, or having to replace tires. Because every manufacturer offers at least a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. You still pay for your TT&L, and full coverage car insurance. You can tell them you want to buy extra miles up front if you drive more than about 15,000 miles per year. If you go over you can pay them at the end approximately 11¢ per mile. I don’t care to buy a car and keep it for 10 years like a lot of people so I just always plan on having a $500/month car payment (lease) for the convenience of newer cars and no maintenance other than taking it in for oil changes and manufacture suggested maintenance intervals which don’t cost much. You get a vehicle with the latest technology which I like, ventilated seats, wireless Apple car play, panoramic sunroof, safety tech, heated steering wheel and heated back seats and with a lease the manufacturer often offers a near zero interest rate which is called a Money-Factor on the lease. Let me know if you ever have any questions.
@marilynm91002 жыл бұрын
@@2004cyrus Thank you so much! I agree! I’m researching how to lease so I won’t get taken. Lol
@2004cyrus2 жыл бұрын
@@marilynm9100 well I’m super familiar and was going to give you advice on that. But the car buying world has changed quickly and drastically. The negotiations are dead. You can hope for a good interest rate depending on credit, but the price, well those are sticker plus the dealer market adjustments now. There are always exceptions to this and you’ll have to just visit manufacturer websites as you referred to needing to research. So yes. Some car makers offer $750 off or something but that’s usually on a purchase. Sadly with these silly chip shortages, customers are at the mercy of the dealers & manufacturers. The finance manager will offer you lots of extra products, I listen to their pitch and always always always say no thank you and sometimes you have to turn them down about 3 times. Remember not to cave in because you can always stand up and say thanks but I’m no longer interested and that you are going to “Honda” to do business. Make something up. If your credit is great I wouldn’t put any money down either. Keep your money on a lease and tell them to roll the fees into the payment because they will anyway. Ask them to let you review the contract for 10 minutes before they rush you into signing. Because there is room for them to throw in several fees & charges. Question anything you don’t understand. They’ll often back peddle and remove most of them. Don’t sign anything you aren’t comfortable with. I’m not trying yo talk down to you here. You’ve probably negotiated car deals before. So I apologize ahead of time. I worked in car sales for 3 years and I know the tricks. There are lots of them. Also, don’t act excited about any cars on the test drive or say omg it’s perfect I have to have. I’d you do that, the salesman will tell the manager you were foaming at the mouth and they won’t knock anything off. So keep it very dry and tell them the car is just okay and you expected softer seats or a better stereo or a larger trunk but that maybe the car will work if the numbers are right. Don’t tell them what you do for a living when you arrive at the store and the salesman’s asks, don’t tell them what you want your payments to be and don’t tell them anything about putting money down. Tell the salesman you just want knowledge about the car. Tell him you’ll discuss employment and finances when you get with the business manager. You don’t owe them any information while you arrive for a good test drive. It is okay to provide your driver license and car insurance card for them to make a photocopy of in order for you to take their car out for a test drive. Hope some of this helps. You can verify what I’m telling you if you Search car buying tips online and if you use KZbin a lot you can watch car buying videos. I’m here if you want to know anything else. I’m Kody. Good luck Marilyn.

The smart cruise works fine except rarely it does not slow down the car but beeps at me to brake asap when a car is stopped in front of me. Sometimes there is a rattle on the passenger side near the A pillar but I have no idea what is causing it. My 2013 Mazda6 also does it sometimes. Seat bottom does not extend out far enough, and heated seats and steering turn off every time you turn the car off, you have to manually turn them on- the car should remember the last setting.
@2004cyrus2 жыл бұрын
You expect unreasonable things. Of course the heated steering wheel and seats have to be turned on with each start cycle. All brands of cars I owned did this. It’s too much stress on the battery to keep accessories on while performing a cold start. The rattle my brother loose items on the floor or in your door handle cubby. The things don’t extend on non luxury cars. Auto Hold always works fine on my new CX-5 so you are doing something wrong by trying to activate it. Check your owners manual for correct usage. These are outstanding vehicles and I’ve had 5 with no problems. There is no perfect car of course. But there is some nit-picking here that I wish to defend.

Only problem with Mazda is the depreciation which is mainly due to the company selling so many as fleet vehicles to the car rental companies. Because of the buyback agreement manufacturers buyback older models from the car rental companies thereby allowing them to buy new models. Auto manufacturers then sell the older models to auto auction companies who flood the used car market which deprecates your resale value by thousands of dollars.
@2004cyrus2 жыл бұрын
Just least like I do. I never see Mazdas on rental lots. I wish I did. But Mazda is a small company relative to others. I see Ford Chevy Nissan and Hyundai on our rental lots. Resale is getting better. Cars are just not good investments as you know.

Hello Mikes! My wife and I really like your videos. No stress, take the time to cover all the points you think off, not searching for funny expression, juste facts. We're looking to buy new a car soon and your channel has been a very good tool to save time in our evaluation. Your videos are really good, thank you for making them! Regarding this CX5 and your comments about the no-touchscreen of the middle display, we can understand that with that magic joystick-rotating knob we can do pretty much what a touchscreen would allow to do... ...but we would like to see how you could enter a destination for example in the navigation system... You have to select one by one each letters of the text we want to enter like old flip phone or things like that? Hum... Not sure it's as efficient as a on-screen keyboard...

Bought a 2021 Touring CX-5 in Mica Blue with black interior and of all the new cars bought in the past 40+ years I love this one the best and I have owned a couple of new Cadillac's, Thunderbird and Dodge Ram. The only thing that is annoying is the screen is not touch enabled. When my wife and I are in the car, it would be nice if she could scroll Google maps with CarPlay and move around. Otherwise if I was to buy another new car it would be another Mazda CX-5.

I just bought the 2021 Mazda CX5 signature. I am having a problem with the the button on the left hand side of steering wheel which you describe as used for "changing tracks on radio" on my car this button only changes my preset channels on FM. does not work on Sirius. Know one seems to know anything about this. I've activated the Sirius radio and set all my favorites. but this button will not change stations on Sirius. DO you have any idea . if this is a malfunction of a reality, Ive even called mazda and they told me it is used only for non pre set stations. nothing makes sense. Would appreciate your help

Just imagine how I felt when I bought a 2021 CX-5 Carbon Edition, and I tried understand all of that technology, after driving a 1999 Mercury Mystique for 22 years. Fortunate for me, I don't need to use many of the buttons. I just plug my flash card into the USB port to listen to thousands of my favorite songs that I copied from my CDs. It just takes a little setting up.

Mike, great review! Quick question: I just purchased the CX-5 Touring in Soul Red. Do you think Mazda will allow WIRELESS Android Auto in the near future? I don't like wires and my previous car(10 years old) had XM radio built-in and I miss having that option in this vehicle. I have the Touring preferred options. At over 30K, I'm surprised my new car did not come with XM built-in.
@aytugdemir13233 жыл бұрын
In the Canadian 2021 models they already have the wireless feature, so that'll probably be coming very soon in the US models, probably for the 2022 model year.

@@aytugdemir1323 True, but unfortunately we didn't get the new infotainment system, probably because if currency issues. Otherwise, I have no idea why we didn't get it. Will be interesting to see if sales are affected much.

That is interesting. I have a new CX-5 as well and it does have XM. But it depends on the trim level you chose. Mine is Grand Touring. I would assume the Touring has it as well. And the sport probably does not. Most people don’t care about XM but I use it daily.
