I used to agree with you on the rear lights of the s class. But actually, the more I look into it, the more I find that this "static" aspect of it actually makes it very classy, like strength and power of an old wise man which doesn't need to move for you to feel he's the boss. Besides, the static aspect will always be limited imo, simply because of the shape itself and the fact that it continues on the side of the car.

I have a question. Do you think there has ever been a good looking asymmetrically designed car. DS Automobiles is trying something like that with a recent concept car and it’s so new to the eye so I’m not sure how I feel about it. A video about the DS design in general would be super interesting. I think they are definitely over styled, but it kinda works in my opinion.

From the flagship line-up in my opinion the e-class turned out to be the most successful facelift, where in the rest there is something either missing or it's too much. For instance the c-class not appealing enough or the s-class being too "s-illy" and overly improved with stuff none will ever use. There's no balance between the 3 models

This is why I’m a fan of Hyundai and Kia’s philosophy right now, every car must be different, cause if someone is paying 45k for a car that looks like a car you paid 90k or more (c-class vs. s-class) that must really piss you off as a rich person lol 😂. Anyways I just don’t understand this whole German every car looks the same phylosophy

People don't get rich or buy expensive cars just to distinguish themselves from the poor ! When you have money you will see that you spend most of your time in the car and these cars are different inside by far
@MicahB98
@MicahB98 3 жыл бұрын
@@godzillanismo4892 Welll in that case, yes Mercedes C-class now has the same interior as the S-Class, soooooo now the interiors doesn’t feel as special, so why spend the extra? Seems like a bad marketing strategy, cause if I wanted to spend more money for a different car, I want a different car, not a jacked up version of a 40k car. I get it you sit in the car but in Mercedes case it’s really pathetic
@martinsvensson6884
@martinsvensson6884 3 жыл бұрын
@@MicahB98 If you take a look at the best selling S-class ever.. the w126.. and compare its interior to the w201, w124 or even w123.. you will see very striking similarities. If you buy an S-class only for its looks, exterior or interior, you are not the right type of buyer for that type of car. And its probably good that you are deterred from buying it.

I love the C's double shoulder. It looks strong and confident. The S isn't bad but it doesn't have the authoritative lines that use to define the S-classes of old. As much as I love the E63 AMG, I hate that drooping shoulder line. It gives the car a saggy butt. I guess I am one of those people who just does not like cars where the back of the character line is lower than the front. Maybe the Triumph TR7 commercials I watched when growing up made me a doorstop guy.

I do not agree at all. I have the w204 coupe and the lines are very agressive, the shoulder especially all the way to the trunk, agressive lines that look dated. Then the w205 came with softer lines, the shoulder as the trunk slopes to the back making it more elegant, they changed it a bit in the facelift. Now the w206 it is maybe the most agressive modern Mercedes, the A-shape grill, the flat nose, that shoulder raised, those small headlights, to me looks very well designed and while I love Mercedes and to me has the best design out of the 3, this new C class looks modern and not more elegant at all, more agressive, but in a mature way. This is an agressive grown up car. Really the design blew me away. It takes a while to get used to that raised shoulder and those lights, but the whole thing is simply wow. edit: also, a little more about the grill, because you changed it. The shape you designed works better with an angled face/grill, with the hood going into the grill, giving it "movement", but now you have a flat nose, a vertical front, the A-shaped grill, slamming the car to the road works way better.
