Putting a pedestrian safety system on a Mirage is like putting a Nokia in a protective case. If you hit someone with the Mirage, it’s probably more of an inconvenience vs a life-threatening event for the pedestrian. On a serious note though, I’m SO glad to finally see the 2021’s in the US! I like the new front-end.

This mirage hatchback is so popular here in the Philippines, you can see anywhere in the country, along with the sedan version.

I absolutely love my 2021 Mirage G4 Would have gotten the hatch but the backseat is larger on the G4 for 4 adults Plus only takes ~5 gallons of fuel to fill it (You can't put the whole 9 gallons in or it wouldn't drive to the gas station) What really sold me is the automatic climate control cruise control power window power locks power mirrors radio Only thing it's missing is a remote push button to open trunk, so I went to lock Smith and had door ONLY keys made so when the car is running I can still get in the trunk without walking over to the driver's door and I can lock the car while it's running for AC and Heat too now 😁

It's well equipped, but your should talk to enthusiastic owners...he missed quite a few good points and got others wrong.. All Mitsubishi vehicles come with a 10 year 100k power train warranty and 5 year 60k mile new car warranty btw... That warranty is in no way limited to that, or any other dealer.
@JamesDealz
@JamesDealz 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure What was stated wrong...? To call bumper to bumper coverage simply a new car warranty is misleading since not only can you transfer the warranty to the next owner. I have several 3 year old certified pre-owned vehicles that still have what you call a" new car warranty". I didn't say we are the only one to offer the warranty, I stated we are one of the only ones, which is absolutely true.
@fadingbeleifs
@fadingbeleifs 3 жыл бұрын
@@JamesDealz when you buy a used vehicle, you get the remainder of the manufacturer new car warranty on the powertrain... Which means the remainder of the initial 5 year 60,000 mi warranty.. well the powertrain is covered under that you don't get the remainder of the 10-year 100,000 mi warranty. The trend I have been seeing since Mitsubishi started selling cars in the United States again, is that the vast majority of the dealers resemble sketchy pawn shops, and quacks.. compared to your average car dealership, they're basically lean to's, occasionally put up against the side of an existing dealer.

I like the Mirage, but I think it's biggest weaknesses are the small low powered engine, lack of sound deadening material in the interior and small 14" wheels. Those weaknesses also have a plus side like better fuel economy, but I'm not sure 5 extra mpg is worth it.
@fadingbeleifs
@fadingbeleifs 3 жыл бұрын
The 14" wheel isn't a weakness, it comes down to a matter of taste. Sound deadening is easy enough to get and install, you can do the entire car in under a day, even faster with help. The engine is adaquete for the car. It's meant to be tough and efficient. It has 78 hp at 6k rpm and 74 ft lb of torque at 4k to 5k rpm. The CVT, as is the case with all CVT's, sucks, and it saps too much power from it due to needing an aggressive torque converter to build enough pressure at low RPM's to clamp the belt. The 5 speed manual is actually fun to drive and does long trips perfectly fine. I live in Texas, and this car has zero problems merging with traffic and keeping pace. They're limited to 125 mph, and they WILL do it.. it's not a race car. PS, the CVT is the same unit as in many Nissan vehicles in the US... It's an off the shelf unit from Jatco.
@MotorheadRedo
@MotorheadRedo 3 жыл бұрын
@@fadingbeleifs I was using the word weakness in comparison to the competition, but I'm sure there are other specs that favor the Mirage. The Chevrolet Spark comes with 15" wheels on all trim levels, better interior sound deadening insulation from what I've read and a 4 cylinder engine that produces 98Hp and 94lb-ft of torque, but is 5mpg less than the Mirage 3 cylinder engine on the freeway. The Chevrolet Spark actually has a lower base price than the Mirage. I don't like CVT's either and would opt for a manual in whatever make/model car I purchased. There's a video on KZbin of a guy in a Mirage equipped with a CVT merging on the freeway and it sounded horrible.

@@fadingbeleifs Not to mention the mirage is roughly $3,000 to $5,000 cheaper than anything else in it's class depending where you live. Or if you wanted an even better value, some new 2019 and 2020 models are being sold for like $6,500 to $9,000 brand new....well sort of. They're a few years old but never had an owner.
@fadingbeleifs
@fadingbeleifs 3 жыл бұрын
@@whodoyouvoodo3987 I know, there's a few dealers down around Orlando and Deland Florida that have had cars on car gurus that had them up for $8k-$9k just like you said... The Mirage doesn't have a buzzy loud engine like the Spark, and the car itself is assembled MUCH MUCH better.. no rattles, squeaks, everything is put in its place like it should be, and I've yet to see one with warped plastics or metal like the stuff from GM or Ford... It's a cheap car, but is actually a quality car... You at least get your money's worth, if not much more... My only complaint is the 9.2 gallon gas tank and not having another gear to bring the engine RPM down... 80 mph in west texas is about 4k on the tach, and while I know it won't hurt it, I feel bad for that little motor up there working it's ass off.. lol... I'm at 15k mi on mine, it doesn't use oil, doesn't make noises it's not supposed to, no rust, (on the body, wish they had used stainless for the exhaust), no problems what so ever... I mention rust because I drove it to Colorado from south Carolina last February to start with a new company, and it got COVERED in that nasty mag chloride or calcium chloride, whatever they use on the roads in Illinois, missouri, kansas, Colorado and Wyoming... The exhaust got rust pitted pretty quickly, but I DID undercoat the chassis not long after I got the car... I love my little shit box, just as much as I love both of my S-Classes... Mitsubishi did a great job on the car, and the new ones (2021's) look really cool with the new front and rear ends... I just want the option to have manual climate control and a 6 speed stick... I don't wanna raise the diff ratio because it will hurt the acceleration... It's 4.08:1 on the US spec cars with the manual transmission... 3.55:1 on the CVT cars...

The Mirage is a decent package but I have a Hyundai Accent which is a far better value in the long run you get a bit more power and the cat insurance is cheaper. At lest where I live the dealerships that sell this car tend to give you more fuck for the buck as far as financing goes. I was getting very high monthly payment plans on a 2019 model and plus this car is not very well seen and Mitsubishi’s are expensive to repair making getting basic tires expensive and parts a bitch to get. With my car it’s not expensive to maintain and I get more usable power. Until this car gets a more refined motor and when dealerships stop pricing the car to oblivion I may reconsider just now it would not be worth it for me

Mitsubishi's are very cost effective to buy and repair. We sell a lot of Mirage's for the fuel economy and reliability, we hardly have issues as to repairing them because of how reliable these cars are. Regular maintenance oil changes and parts are all affordable and available at our dealership.

Mitsubishi why not release a turbo version of this car. With the 3 cylinder engine. It would make this car much more appealing.
@CollinMac96
@CollinMac96 3 жыл бұрын
Because then you won’t get as great gas mileage and you immediately worsen reliability. Also adding a turbo will significantly raise the price to the consumer. Too much R&D costs and people won’t buy it in large numbers. It will have less power than a civic or Corolla, and cost as much
@warcrabcyber9908
@warcrabcyber9908 3 жыл бұрын
@@CollinMac96 I disagree, check out the kei cars in japan running 660cc engines with turbo.like the suzuki alto. They run great and are reliable. Mitsubishi is in the car business for decades. there is not much R&d involved in creating a turbo car. The cost will not be high because those small turbo are extremely cheap. And the cost to maintain is very cheap as well. The car will be quick while maintaining a low gas mileage.
@CollinMac96
@CollinMac96 3 жыл бұрын
@@warcrabcyber9908 you really don’t understand that you cannot just slap a turbo on a naturally aspirated engine and call it a day. Also I don’t care about any other small turbo car you’re comparing it to because sales figures do not lie. Americans do not buy subcompact cars. The crossover/suv dominated the market. It will not sell and Mitsu knows that. And how much power do you expect it to gain? Anything more than 110crank hp will require some major engine revamping.
@warcrabcyber9908

@@CollinMac96 you are talking a pile of garbage, it depends on the ecu of the car .many modern cars run turbo small turbo engines. If you don't have any idea what you are talking about stay quiet. I made a reference to the japanese kei cars because those cars run small turbo engines and are reliable. Modern cars run low boost and is able to remain reliable while getting a significant boost in power. These mitsubishi cars are very slow for the people living in the us. But the turbo may make it more appealing

@@warcrabcyber9908 I want you to ask any mechanical engineer about your theory and get back to me. Those small turbos were designed and modified to accommodate the extra pressure. You don’t just slap a turbo on and go. You may want to pick up a book or two. Your ignorance is showing.

At least the warranty seems very good. Given the car's limitations, it's not worth more than 12 grand new. * 14 inch wheels are small. It would be better with 15 inch wheels with wider tires, in terms of handling. * Jatco CVT transmissions are not known for quality and reliability. * The manual transmission should have a 6th gear.

Expensive but better than a couple grand if your Mirage isn't on that powertrain warranty.
