I always see a big disconnect between owners of the Mirage and Auto Journalists reviewing them, The view points on both are 180 degree different, The main objectives of this car are opposite of what Journalists expect, but exactly what buyers are looking for. It's a back to basic point A to B car, just like many entry hatch backs before it. We have become very demanding with our rides and the wants always over take people's needs. This car is bullet proof, easy to live with, affordable, dependable, no recalls or engine disasters (looking at you GM and Toyota) Review what this car is designed for, not a toy to play with or focusing on the obvious - next time review fuel milage, easy parking abilities, loading and unloading, not a teenager taking it out road racing at night.

If you expect driving thrills, you better be willing to open up your wallet a lot more. And don't even get me started on used cars as an alternative. Does that used car come with a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty? Do you know how it was driven, or how it was maintained?

I just bought a 2024 SE hatch last week, pearl white. It looks a LOT better than this one, it came with 14 inch alloy rims and packed with a ton of features, its even got mud flaps. I got it for MSRP of $18,665.00, but it comes fully loaded. The “pro” critics reviews of these are pure bull… The engine is more than quick enough and capable for city and highway use, it is comfortable, the interior trim is NOT as terrible as they put it. It is the perfect commuter car and grocery getter. It gets constant 40+ MPG, the engine is ridiculously simple to service and maintain, and the reliability is impressive. It is a shame that America didn’t get it with this category of cars… But you know, gotta get that V8 Tundra to go get some bread and milk at the corner 7eleven by yourself 😜

A Toyota Yaris would be an amazing small car for the US. A shame that Toyota doesn't offer it. It has a 120 hp 1.5L 3-cylinder with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT and even can be optioned with AWD on the CVT. It is heavier and more solid than the Mirage but it also costs more and is almost a segment above, but it's still small and cheap, especially to own. With that AWD there is NO excuse to buy a massive SUV "because I have snow in the winter".😂

Reviews like these always amaze me. This cars purpose is to get to and from, it doesn’t need quick acceleration, fancy upgraded crap etc… these cars have practically no maintenance, amazing gas mileage amongst other things. Mirage owners are very satisfied with these cars as it’s the whole point of buying one. I own a 2019 hatchback that still has very low mileage, just 18k and have had no issues with it driving on the freeway, in the city etc… I wish Mitsubishi wasn’t discontinuing the Mirage after 2024. Dealers are obsessed with crossovers and SUVs now and these great little cars are sadly going to be obsolete future wise. If you’re on the fence, definitely go take a test drive but also if you’re looking for speed and lots of features this car isn’t going to be for you. If however, you’re looking for great gas mileage- I usually average between 45-50mpg and don’t need all the bells and whistles but just a great reliable car, then the mirage may be for you!

Only really needed to put 2,000 miles on it, rest was for fun. The car is a bit loud on rough roads, might add some sound insulation around the wheel wells. But I like the engine. It has plenty of power for me, I tend to drive in the mountains, and on the interstate. Very little city driving. Taken it up to Onyx Summit, elevation 8,500 feet, at max capacity, well, over. I had 780 LB in it, the max rated is 820. But due to elevation the max was about 700. Either way, car was very slow at the top, 0-60 was about 40 seconds. But for me it had plenty of power, but you really could notice it unhappy at the top. Also with the seats folded, it has a ton of room inside. I haul financer, lawn mowers, flooring, lots of stuff.

It took getting used to because it's so weak on power, noisy, and seems to have the steering and suspension out of a 1970s American land yacht. However, it's comfortable for my 5'7" frame, has great ergonomics, can hold a surprising amount with the rear seat folded including my full-frame bicycle, has a fantastic auto climate system, a comfortable ride, and gets 40-46mpg driving around the city and suburbs. Plus, they offer it in some fun colors, unlike most cars nowadays. The only concerns are safety and the price, which jumped up a lot after the pandemic when Mitsubishi dropped the huge manufacturer rebates. Mine was totally worth the $13k I paid fully loaded. You do like to harp on how little the power is of these cars, I bought a '23 Mirage se last year, and reading up on the Mirage forum pages they have here you can pick up alot of points on how to make due with these cars; in fact you didnt even mention the S drive for the automatic, if you take the automatic shifter and put it into drive, then push it to the right, you'll be in Sport mode, which allows the valves to open higher for more fuel at the higher revs when merging onto a freeway, Ive done it many times a day, and the sport option, if you leave it topped out at 4,000 rpm you will have all the acceleration you need, and once you are at the speed you need to be at, just push the transmission shifter over to the left again for economy driving. Now that you know how to properly drive one of these, everything else about them you did capture right, they are easy to work on, have a 100,000 mi/10 yr warranty, have a great reputation for being reliable and trustworthy cars to own.

In canada it's still going to be 21k ish after taxes to have a base model, anything else is 30k, a versa is around 25k. CVT Transmissions are not known to be the most reliable and are expensive to repair. A Quality Sedan like a Mazda 3 or Nissan Sentra/Hyundai Elantra either way will put you 27-31k after taxes and a garbage interest rate won't likely go below 6% less you can pay it off in under 4 years. The price of one of these mirages will get you a low or normal mileage 5-10 year old car with little to know warranty and an interest rate and shorter term loan that will probably still cost you the same if not more then either a versa or mirage. The market is such a joke. These were 10k new once, and not much has changed aside from a few standard features, including some mandatory like a rear backup camera. But i suppose if you don't want to take the risk of buying something significantly older and higher mileage and have it inspected then well you can have a mirage for 300$ a month and pretty good warranty.
@stephanburgess6546 ай бұрын
You are correct in saying theMirage is being discontinued soon. We lost the sedan 5 years ago in Australia with the hatch being discontinued last year. Sales were always slow but that is due to it really was sold I city locations due to country use for going to the shops is sometimes a 100km drive. They are a great little car though. In saying this SUV sales now kill any sedan sales from all manufacturers in the country. Hyundai, Kia, Toyota and Chinese junk are the only sedans available in Australia now. I miss the Mitsubishi Lancer of which I currently have 3 and will not be updating any of them to a SUV or EV car.

My comment exactly. I remember Mitsubishi advertising these at $9,999 in 2018-2019. Should be a super important life lesson for people. Do not vote for socialists who are okay with flooding the economy with "free" money. That's the cause of all this inflation. Luckily, it's all starting to crash as we speak. Most automakers are piled up and nobody's buying anything at these prices anymore, which will lead to rapid deflation.
@djkenny12023 ай бұрын
@ that happened to keep us from crashing in a capitalist society. The increases at this point mostly based on gouging people. Products are no longer lacking computer chips. You’ll see after the pandemic the inflation was only up to 4%, then it dropped dramatically to 2%. However, all these corporations did not decrease prices. They could. But they also went higher than actual inflation because they could blame inflation. There was a double down of record profits as a result and huge tax cuts during the Trump administration to the wealthiest corporations. They all got Richer off our Backs.

Been driving this car for 2 weeks now. Compare to my other cars including a Corolla (LE), a Camry (XSE) and an Elantra, no car on this list is perfect. I heard a lot of people said just get a Corolla. Well, there're things that I like and dislike in both cars. For example, I went to a very high traffic area yesterday and need to pararell park but the space was super tight. Luckily I drove this car so parking was no problem. Once I got out of the car I realized there's so much space left on the side too so I don't have to worry that my car will get in a way of the on going traffic. This car has enough power to go into high traffic area without problem. Another thing I love about the Mirage is the connection to my phone. Even though it only has one USB port (and not even a USB-C at that), charging my phone was almost as fast as the Elantra. Android Auto connected thru cable was smoother than in any other car. Definitely smoother than the Corolla (Toyota's connection has never worked well for me, usually, I can't even play music with Android Auto and has to connect via Bluetooth instead). Sure, the space inside the Mirage is nothing to write home about but it has everything "essential" for a compact. The back camera is also a light year clearer than the one I have on my Corolla. The car hardly have any driving assist of any kind except for the front censor which I still don't know how it works because I've never heard of the warning or braking like in my other cars. However, this is a perfect car for city driving. No fancy stuff like heating seats (which my spouse really loves in our Camry) or anything like that but the A/C works great. For the price, can't complain.
