I waited 5 months for my Mach 1, was there when it drove off the truck, and I can tell you, I've never been anything but ecstatic with the money spent. It's unique, it handles brilliantly, accelerates like a brute, yet can be quiet and relaxed at 5 am in the morning when I'm headed to work. People keep wanting to comment about how they can get a 2020 PP2, put a blower on it, and kick the Mach 1's bum for the same amount of money. I don't care. That's not what this car is about. It's about a new and special take on an already special car. It's fantastic.

Does the PP2 have the longevity or durability and exact performance as the Mach 1, it is mentioned that the Mach 1 has all those advantages and more. Heck you can do the same by putting a blower and beating the PP2 if we want an apples to apples comparison, pricing would be the difference. The cheapest PP2 you COULD get is 45k+, while Mach 1 starts at 52k, put a blower on either and the Mach 1 still beats the PP2 in a race overall but for more money, the more expensive track version is of course... more expensive, but at that point the PP2 has no chance of winning and many other cars in that segment will get demolished by it. Really it's about the difference and special model that makes that difference.

I came up with a good reason to buy this over a GT, resale value. People who buy Mustangs will definitely pay a lot more for that Mach One name and appearance package. Ford doesn't keep their Mustang special editions around that long and there is definitely a fanbase for the Mach One specifically, just like the one for the Boss 302.

Having owned a car with a Tremec - that transmission alone makes the price hike worth it. I just sold my ct4 blackwing which had the TR6060. Absolutely brilliant. Almost the right car at very much the wrong time. Having FINALLY driven one of these Mach 1s, I see now that I didn't really want the Cadillac. What I really, truly wanted, the whole time, was this 5 liter monster. 1000% worth the cost.

nice second review guys. i bought this car in NZ in the only spec we and a lot of other countries in the world only get and that is the Non -HP version. Aussie reviewers have tested that non-hp car on the track and it gets great reviews. I got the Tremac and it is a great transmission compared to my 2016 Gt getrag. From what I've read the no lift shift is not "bad on the transmission " . the car is actually meant to do this and the ECU doesn't allow the engine to over rev whilst shifting at full throttle. this transmission is the one of the reasons that I got the Mach 1 as opposed to a 2021 GT. also the magnaride and specific chassis and steering is different from the GT. and as you said the Mach 1 tradition and name is worth something. as i won't be tracking mine the 3 coolers are redundant. cheers tom

It’s actually the GT500 rear subframe/toe-link. And GT350R suspension (tuned) with all the cooling for the rear-differential, oil and transmission. It’s literally a GT350R 1.5 without the Voodoo.

The Mach 1 is all GT350 underneath with a GT500 rear subframe. It’s a really special Mustang, shoulders above any GT variant, and in the same company as the GT350R. TH is throwing shade because Ford didn’t allow track racing.

I wanted the 10r80 so I went with a GT that's pretty much fully loaded. Magneride, PP1, etc. Only thing I don't have is Recaro seats, but I wanted the heated and cooled feature. I don't track my car, so for me it made more sense to get a GT.

The one thing I wish I could have said to Thomas this entire discussion was that you can't really compare the Mach 1 with the PP2, Bullitt, and to a lesser extent, GT350, if you are talking exclusively about new Mustangs. For the 2021 model year, the PP2, Bullitt and GT350 are no longer available. The Mach 1 is meant to replace these three models with a single model. I think the real discussion to be had is its value as a replacement.

hey guys so I just picked up a blue mach 1 2 days ago with the handling package. I'll tell you what, I drove the fully loaded gt and this car is by far a better by even for about 7k more. thr 315's in the rear poke out just a bit and make the car look so wide and aggressive. I came from a stage 3, 2017 focus st and am in love with this mach 1.

The main thing the Mach 1 has over the GT is the Tremec gearbox for the manual transmission option. Super well built. I'm not sure it's worth Ford's premium, but honestly, Ford's been that way about all of their vehicles for quite some time now.

Man the MT-82 is the worst transmission I've ever driven. It's clunky, it breaks, and it just doesn't feel smooth almost EVER in my 2017 GT. My clutch AND slave cylinder both blew up at like 15k miles. The springs in the clutch literally shattered and it's not like I do hard launches often.

@@perrytheplatypus4937 Oh I don't regret getting the manual AT ALL. I didn't REALLY know how to drive manual when I bought it, but I also wasn't an idiot and didn't abuse the clutch. I at least knew how manual transmissions worked and that probably helped a bit. As shitty as the MT-82 tranny is, it's still fun as hell and I would 100% still take the MT-82 and all of its problems over an automatic. Don't let not knowing how to drive manual stop you from getting one, I didn't really know what I was doing and still managed to get it an hour and a half back home from the dealership in one piece lmao. It'll take some practice, but once you figure it out, it becomes second nature. There's no better feeling than downshifting and rev-matching manually (I will never use auto rev-match personally, just not as fun). It never gets old blipping the throttle on a downshift.

So, I just got a 2020 PP2 like 2 months ago, it does have rev match but its missing the tremec the oil cooler and all that! But it was 44k US. used with 1500 miles on it. I think that's 54ish Canadian. It's a steal!

Downshifting and Rev matching yourself is one of the most enjoyable parts of driving stick: if you have an aftermarket exhaust system than it’s most likely snap, crackle, pop city! Love downshifting my stage 2 STi and rev matching. The pops and bangs are crazy, maybe like 3-5 or 5-8 on average, or sometimes one BANG that sounds like a large firecracker 🧨, and it does it on up shifts sometimes. However, not a fan of over the top tunes that make the car pop and and bang like 20 times on a downshift or just letting off the gas

If nothing else, one can instantly tell the difference between a Mach 1 with a Tremic than any GT with the Getrag. That feature makes the price difference worth it.

I agree....I have heard many a reviewer say,,,,,,to get this Transmission alone makes it worth the price. Short of 2024, you cannot get any Coyote 5.0 backed by the Tremec 6speed unless you go Mach1. You have to pay GT350 $$ and add the cost of the 5.2 Voodoo motor. In Summer 2023 used GT350 cars are $55,000-$65,000 AND the upcomming 2024 Darkhorse 5.0 with Tremec 6speed will vault well above $60K with Options (and a year's worth of Dealer "market adjustment' costs!). The buyers of 21-22 Mach1s used their $$ wisely for a well-sorted road AND track car. The smartest 2023 buyers will snatch up the last of the Mach1s AT MSRP (or slightly below) and, like me, will smile and laugh every time they drive and are impressed with the best S550 Ford put out.

I was hard on this car when I saw the specs and I wasn't aware of the TREMC gearbox and the new suspension upgrades. This is a MUCH better car then the standard GT with those upgrades. Here in the states its $63Kish its expensive but this should be what the Mustang should of been all along. This car is more than looks the TREMC is worth the price of admission.

Yeah, I dont think they gave enough weight to the Tremec > MT82 part of the equation. I'd get the Mach 1 over a Bullitt, or PP2 (or GT500 - #savethemanuals).

I haven't decided what I'm actually going to do next, but I am shying away from the Shelby for that reason. I love everything about the voodoo but it makes me nervous. I can't swing a Mach 1, so I'm actually leaning towards the 400z when it comes out or maybe a used SS 1LE Camaro.

@@R3LF13 I think the Tremec is over hyped. After the late 2018 revision the MT-82 is just as reliable, and its weak point is just the shifter. All the 3160 has going for it is the better shifter, bit more aggressive gearing (still nnot as good as the 15-17 MT-82 gearing) and NLS (Really the 15+ cars CAN do NLS some reason Ford just never added the software).

The Camaro is one hell of a road weapon, but IMHO it achieves that at the expense of everything else. It is ergonomically deficient, it is ugly, it carries less stuff. It so badly needs a new generation, but GM may have cooked its own goose on that front.

Voodoo is a treasure but it's a Diva and it's delicate. It shakes and vibrates and it will wear out pretty fast if you pound on it. Predator is on a mission to consume all the gasoline in existence. The "low fuel" light bulb will be the first to fail because it's always turned on. Coyote is like it's namesake, a survivor and is more than stout enough to provide all kinds of trouble if you ask for it.

sLap all those show & shine guys!! I have a 19 pp1 premium a10 3.55 GT Mustang with the killer gauge package. I added keeping full warrantee F P Bullitt tune which is good for engine and great for a10 and also F P Track Pack suspension package which is in between the pp2 and GT350. I put some slightly wider & shorter Goodyear Supercar 3's on f & r, added diff cooler, x pipe, Schroth harnesses, and Steeda Stop-the-Hop IRS kit The Car scoots quite nicely on road course tracks and still very streetable! Needs better brake pads and pp2 wheel & tire setup. It makes a great poor man's GT500, a car I wouldn't own/buy - tires don't last long nor does the gas on the track tho Great for a few Fast laps!!! If you like pp2's but wanted a Souped Up a10 here you are and then some. Ford Performance parts kicked this GT up notch Very nicely

Just bought my 2021 black Mach 1 today in black with tremec 6 speed and handling pack!! Had the choice between a 2020 Gt 500 used and this, the insurance was crazy for the 500. I’m gonna debadge it and pull off the vinyl stripes and hood sticker. Traded my 2018 gen 2 raptor for it. Have a 250 lariat tremor to replace the gen 2, I really love my raptor but time to move on. There is always the gen 3 type r in a year or so.

I am someone who is genuinely in the market looking to buy a Mustang and I have it down to either to either a GT then super charging it with a Roush supercharger , a used GT350, or a Mach one.. The issue I have with the mock 1 is that there is some mark up on it so I can get a brand new Mustang GT supercharged and under warranty for 5,000 to $8000 less than the Mach 1.

I mean right now from what I looked dealerships near me fully loaded mustangs gt are at 55k while a mach 1 is 57k to 60 k so i might as well just pay a bit more and get a more special car

I think it is very unfair by Thomas to say that "you can not know that this is not a GT PP2". The Tremec transmission in Mach 1 is a huge difference and every time you shift you know that you are not in regular Mustang GT. I would agree with him if this Mach 1 would be an automatic. BTW huge fan of the channel and hope you will find a way to take it to the track :)

Having driven both the biggest different in the 2 tranny is slap a good shifter on the 18+ MT-82 and only way you can tell a difference is the gearing.

Dont count out the 10spd until youve driven a handling pack mach 1 10spd... my dad ordered one and holy shit... i have a gt350 and that 10spd makes it stupid easy. Im a regular at the dragon 129 and that 10spd handling pack mach is WAAAYYYYY easier to carve the dragon... love the car

I personally was not thrilled about this Mach 1. It's a nice car, and it's a capable car, but as mentioned, it doesn't seem special enough to justify the price. It's technically nothing more than a GT PP2 with a GT350 intake manifold and the Tremec. If the Tremec was offered in a standard GT Mustang, their would be absolutely no reason to spend the extra money for an appearance package. It's a tough sell.

Mustangs are everything people say both bad and good, and that is the recipe for its success. A car that by all measure of rational thought should be bad, and it is, unless it isnt. Mustang is a unicorn performance car, its base ensures that it can be both bad and phenomally good. it all depends on what you put into it.
