The only issue I had with the Canyon Star in the past is that it was gas powered instead of diesel powered. Thankfully, with this new development, the Canyon Star is now on my radar! I like that they put in very good sound insulation for the engine. It was very quiet in this video! One question I have, though, is how does the fuel economy stack up with the front-end diesel versus the rear-engine diesel? Also, how is the heat insulation with regards to the doghouse cover over the engine? I am a school bus driver & the few front-engine diesels I've driven as far as school buses go, the dog house gets hot, hot, hot & cooks my legs/feet.Great video Chris! Thanks again! :)

Is it possible to get a decibel reading while accelerating and at highway speeds. We currently have a gas toy hauler and it is extremely loud on the highway. Just curious what the peak decibel and average is in the cockpit and seating.

The King of the Motorhome walk-thru's does it again. Fifty-six seconds from 0-60 mph that is not bad for a diesel coach most are well over a minute. Very informative! Plus your battery didn't die or you sd card didn't fill up Tony! hehe;)

In the same spirit, in this price range with all do respect to Newmar 4 HUGE performance safety issues that this beautiful coach gets my DO NOT PURCHASE RATING: Background: With my 45 years of RV experience with diesel, gas and towable’s and as a mechanical engineer specializing in new product development design and manufacturing implementation, the awesome FCCC MC chassis falls short on all levels for THIS specific application: 1)Engine/Transmission Problem: Due to the weight of chassis and Coach the B6.7l with 340hp 790 lb/ft torque is under powered. Living in Colorado, fully loaded going up and our mountain passes there is simply not enough hp and torque. Maxed out in lower gears overheating becomes an issue in our thin mountain air especially in hot summer months. Every year I view dozens of top of the line RV’s overheat here in Colorado, especially toy haulers who typically also tow. Solution: A MINIMUM of 360HP Cummins® 6.7L diesel engine with 800 ft. lbs. of torque, and an Allison® 3000MH-Series 6-speed automatic transmission should be standard in THIS specific application. 2)Front Suspension Problem: The down graded FCCC MC front SOFTEK suspension does not have the stability control, ride quality and longevity for heavy weight, winding mountain & rough roads and severe cross winds. A coach in this price range, weight and market segment application needs front air suspension. Dash, yes, it is ugly. But the funny thing is, is that I'm starting to like it.

The jacobs brake is the engine brake, the exhaust brake uses the turbo to slow down. The dpf that big tank on the exhaust has made them quieter, open the exhaust pipe and the ISL will not be so quiet. The basic dash will be a selling feature for people that do not want to swipe down then left twice to turn on the wiper. lol.

Great, great video Chris. We love our ‘17 Canyon Star, but this platform is interesting to us. With air ride only on the rear axle, how does the ride compare to a F53 26k Canyon Star and a non tag DP. Would air adjusted front seats be an option like in some super Cs. Thanks.

For Mt Comfort: Awesome walk thru! Clear and informative. Thanks! For NewBago: LOL...still only 1500lb in the garage?! And sticking to that hump in the ramp, when a ducktail on the garage floor and flat ramp would be SO MUCH easier to live with (gives owners a rear deck and allows easy break-over adjustment with the front leveling jacks, etc.)...oh well. BTW, all Outlaws have had a real bedroom for years...the loft is just extra sleeping. And our Smart car is safe to carry in our Outlaw at just over 1800lb empty in the 2500lb capacity garage. Safe travels

The reason diesel engines were originally was that they were so noisy. This configuration now is better than rear engine. More balanced and easier maintenance. Wish they had put the 360 hp with the 3000 trans. Great idea though. Iwish more reviewers drove the coach like you did.

This is it, love it! I'd clutter the roof with solar and swap the batteries for lithium as well as the loo for a Separett composting one so too the black tank for additional fresh water and pretty much that's guaranteed you'd never see me again. Thanks for the presentation, great job!

Hi chris have several questions about the canyon star front engine toy hauler, Can use that space in the toy hauler to put in a recliner and a television a d convert it into a mancave ? If I decide to buy power recliners or massaging recliners can I plug it in directly into a plug inside the garage or do I need to run an extension cord ?

Do not turn The Wheel without moving The Vehicle first! Much easier on Power Steering Unit and Steering linkage in a long run you will have less wear and tear, plus your sea is still last longer.

I really like the Newmar Great job Chris showing all the features. We have had a 32' Keystone Impact. And would still have it if it wasn't for Delamination after 2 years from new . It turned into a nightmare. It did have a very similar garage in the Impact. It's very good usable space. If you have guest, it's the best way to go. They have there own space. We now pull a 35' 5th wheel and a 6×10' enclosed trailer .This set up is not for everyone. But I put my motorcycle inside every night and if we have a problem we can retrieve the motorcycle with the trailer. Ive had people tell me our rig is illegal in places like Florida but we have been to Key West 2 time's without a problem. I had a friend get run out of New York pulling a trailer behind his 5th wheel. If I owned something like the Newmar I would pull a small pickup. When I get tired of pulling the 2 trailers the Newmar may be the way to go .

One thing I didn't see you mention was the electric outlet and "hole" above the bed for the CPAP. It appears that there are only storage above each side of bed.

Contact the Ohio DOT and tell them it is a motor home. Or google the state laws and read them, most states have a motor home exclusion but you need to verify as some have a state license requirement. CDL is a commercial license so it would not be the federal CDL unless you use it for work.

Yea we have people that buy toy haulers and use the garage areas for all kinds of things. Offices, Dog grooming areas, we even had a storm chaser that used it as kind of like a weather forecast area.
