I drive a Navara currently and I was also hoping that they would have updated the engine to a more powerful unit. The interior they could have updated a bit more as well. Still better than a Hilux though. Nissan is losing this battle unfortunately it seems. This updated model is not going to make a change in the sales figures.

So with your comment above, in what respect is this better than a new Hilux?
@rayzor07
@rayzor07 3 жыл бұрын
@@terrysmith7740 Maybe my wording I used was wrong and should have probably said that it offers better value for money than a Hilux. Here in Africa, in terms of the price you pay for a similar specced Hilux, you get way more features than the Hilux. However, this is now said with the fact that I bought mine 3 years ago and at that time, the Hilux offered me way less spec, especially in terms of the engine option and the other features such as satnav, rear parking camera etc. The way the Navara drives is also better than the Hilux as I tested both. The Navara is underrated and quite a solid vehicle and had absolutely no issues at all in the 3 years I have had it thus far. The Hilux is a solid offering, but this is a personal opinion when I say that one pays way too much for a Toyota Hilux in terms of what it offers. Maybe I am wrong and they have really upped their game.
@mfalme
@mfalme 3 жыл бұрын
@@rayzor07 I agree i'm based in Africa and from a value perspective the Navara is king here. Hilux is wildly overpriced for base model specs. Same price on a Navara and you get all the bells and whistles

@@terrysmith7740 Drive them, on-road the Hilux is a pig, the Nissan is almost car-like and I think class-leading (even better than the Ranger) due to the rear suspension. It looks far better than the Hilux, but that is subjective of course.

Exterior looks great minus those random red bits but still no extra power , no rear disks and the interior still looks like it's from a 2004 micra. When you see the leap of the dmax in terms or interior, safety and the spec you get for a decent price, hard to see how some LED Lights and some visual changes will trump that.

Excellent review as always. Do these vehicles really need more power? With more power comes different dynamics that alters what they are. Most of the current crop keep up with traffic easily. And most who've owned them for some time would no longer notice the truck like ride - you get used to it, it becomes normal. I bought a dual cab as a daily driver truck. I knew it wasn't going to be like an SUV, or a car based ute. That's why our other car is a sedan. The ute is a utility vehicle designed to do utility things. Perhaps the market may split - Raptor and other premium models, like the Nissan shown, can be aimed at people who really want an SUV with a tray and the lower spec models, c'mon who doesn't love a base spec - they tend to age well, can remain more like daily driver trucks. SUVs really don't carry a great deal so I can understand the desire for an SUV like ute for the bikes or other toys. But some of us are quite happy with their ute being more like a truck. My current ride is like a limousine compared to an XB Fairmont wagon I had many years ago! Someone who lives near me has a late 60s Dodge flat bed with a petrol 8, just restored enough to work as a daily driver. Its not fast, probably jiggles a bit but I reckon he's always smiling.

Not like they come in much cheaper in the ute market, and even if they did - whats 5-10K difference if you're financing. 2020/21 utes feel like 2014 cars in some regards, they really need to play catch up.

What utes need for business use is low running and repair costs. This is not usually associated with V6 Diesel engines. VW and Mercedes have ended production of the V6 pickups. VW have plans to re-enter the market in a few years with a badge engineered next generation Ford Ranger.

I really like Nissan’s but just can’t talk myself into this. Engine is just too small......I think the overall package probably beats the Hilux with its ridiculous price tag and for my taste it’s not in the same class as the new Dmax or Ranger. Shame as I was expecting and hoping for a better vehicle in this new model.

Great review but I would like upgrade from D40 Navara to bigger Titan, I wish Nissan would build RHD for Australian market. I need bigger truck for farming especially towing heavy trailers.

Such a great looking vehicle, such a pity Nissan don’t know how to create a funky young interior, soooooo old school. Ford won’t need to worry yet...

Looks alright. One thing i dont get is why some higher grade ute models on the market dont do darker headlining and pillars. One thing i really liked about the wildtrak interior and now the Dmax X-terrain. The lighter colour just looks and feels too cheap!

The navara is the only japanese pickup truck that can compete the Ranger in terms of technology and and Safety Features here in the Philippines. Good job Nissan! The Toyota Safety Sense and Isuzu's IDAS are not yet available here, maybe in 2023.

*Disappointed...* We were expecting at least a better engine, better interior and payload capacity. That's just a slight improvement for the looks. I even thought those were red tow hooks on the front. Even Toyota went for a 200hp engine, they focused on the small and important details. Dmax has a luxurious interior and so on.

Yes, the North American version will likely get a better set of engines than we do. But it's a slightly different vehicle to this one, despite sharing the same name.

Too many people complaining about it cant compete with other trucks in the market when most of you truck owners just haul air to and from work 99% of the time.

NIssan seems to have better exterior designers than interior designers. love the new headlights and so on, this wild trak competitor looks good. interior okay but not great compared to that new mazda everything just to old.

Originally bought a D40 then replaced it with the current version. Watched the video to see if they had improved the interior and it’s a big fat no! You specifically noted their seat design. Well the seats were made smaller in the last update, there’s still no coat hooks (that must have added to Nissans’ profit margin), the rear seat is held up by a bent bit of wire on a bit of nylon which causes the seat to fall down if your on the move (the R&D team must be so proud of that effort!) and now they’re making the steering wheel smaller. Jeeez, they should have named it the Navara Chocolate bar... another product which started off well and has been put on a spec diet! But let me guess, the price won’t have gone down... so another less for more bargain 🤔

Pretty ordinary made/designed for the , not to seriously off roader " I went on gravel road so I'm a 4wd expert. Would still like to see a bit longer wheel base to fit a slide on camper. Would I buy against a Hi Lux or D Max depends how much I could squeeze the dealer, as they are all overpriced and taking the piss.

So by looking at how many views are the Utes on your channel, it looks like the most popular are the Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max and the Nissan Navara. Poor old Hilux had the least views. Times are a changing...

Nissan didn't elaborate, but the suspension has been strengthened. The payload is now up to 1200kg on some models and 1100kg on this model, which is more than the equivalent Ranger/HiLux variants.
