Thanks for the awesome review. Was totally shocked at how much space was taken up in the boot in all 5 models tho that 250mm height in the GXL, VX & Kakadu is ridiculous. Not to mention the adblue & loss of 150L fuel tank. These are some of the reasons I'm feeling very relieved that I bought one of the last brand new 2023 Kakadu's in May this year as I didn't like the look of the new FJ Cruiser looking Prado either. I think once people realise all the negatives with this newer model the 150 series Prado's are going to hold their value like nothing else.

I would have liked to see the hybrid over here. The old diesel is perfectly reliable but with all the emissions crap. The people that buy these as a pavement princess or grocery getter, they’ll clag up with soot. All diesels with emissions hate city traffic, nerves getting a chance to blow themselves out. It’s going to be interesting.

A company called Loaded Drawers are providing a 3rd row delete option that gives a smooth and strong floor to the cargo area that covers the 48v battery system.

It’s a big shame Australia never got the proper hybrid as in the states. Australia is a good market for the Prado while the US was brand new and actually pretty crap for LC300 as well. Can’t help but feel Australia got short changed by the big t in Japan It’s that or they were too afraid it would eat into LC300 sales.

Been keeping an eye out for info on these for months. Just curiosity of course, I can’t even afford a 3rd hand MG so a Toyota will always be just a dream. But as I consume all the info and comments on these, being broke is starting to feel less bad.

Great review. I was keen, but will wait another model or two. Love the satellite sos 🆘 function. Manufacturers really should provide a barebones model and allow us to add all the sensors and software piece by piece on or after purchase. I don’t need lane assist, ever. Hopefully they fix the weird boot.

Good on Toyota Australia, get what you can for it. Yes, prices are up significantly but the 6mth wait suggests plenty of buyers still see value.

The wind noise at highway speeds it very noticeable. Also if you’re on the taller side the driving position is crap…your left knee is constantly pressed against the centre console

Toyotas are so underwhelming. Especially their boring interiors. And Toyota tax is ridiculous.

I am a fan of Toyota, looked at the Prado and the Fortuner, decided to go for the Fortuner. This car needs the 3.3 l V6 diesel.

Toyota is treating us Aussies like fools. To give us the lacklustre slug 2.8 engine from yesteryear as the only option, coupled with huge price increases on top of it is laughable. Too slow, too expensive, too complicated. Yeah they’ll sell a heap, but I wont be one of the herd.

Regarding the offroad traction mode : Center diff is a Torsen . This kind of diff multiplies the torque by a factor and send it to a wheel with more traction. , but it needs to have a bit traction to multiply it. 0 (zero) multiplied with anything is still 0 (zero). The conclusion if if you have no traction at all it cannot multiply the traction and send it to the other wheels.

Great review, I thought this car was going to be awesome, but now for the money it seems underwhelming. I hate the boot! Gees it needs a bigger engine with more power & better fuel economy. I don't know if all those who bought it before driving it, are going to have that oh what a feeling! Again great review, a real eye opener. Cheers

Thank you for the review and pretty good TBH. Not fussed if a 4wd needs you to activate stuff when off road that's kind of the idea really. If a car just figures it out for you why even have the diff locks etc in the first place. I will put that down to reviewer error. The car being slower than my 2022 Prado would be a bummer for new Prado owners and that rear boot would absolutely annoy the heck out of me. I've removed my 3rd row and put a drawer and 12v system in and I would be peeved if I couldn't do that. Having said there is already false floors on the market for these so someone will figure it out.

The storage hump says "this was going to be IRS" and they changed back at the last minute. The live axle is likely on borrowed time. The third row seat should have been removable like in a minivan, however clasp mechanisms cost more money.

Im disappointed TBH, I like the looks, the smaller tank dont bother me, but the rest …… For that money I want a V6 diesel period not a 150kw diesel thats slower than the predisessor, and the boot what the hell mate ?? No for that money I can get way more power and better interior and seriously they could not even had a down tuned V6 as an option ???? Nope not my cash thanks

I know toyota is the market leader with great network parts availability etc etc but if you put aside the resale value one has to be crazy to overlook the new nissan patrol with a gtr engine. Its very well made with more space and i think more off road capability.
