It's a shame these little affordable cars are dying out, especially with stuff like civics and corollas creeping up in price. Back in 09 my family got two bare bones corollas (manual windows, locks, no cruise control) for 30k out the door. I just upgraded out of that this year 🤣. Granted the times of getting a Toyota that cheap are long gone, this is a great buy for the type of person who "needs" a new car.

Wow that's only 15k a piece fantastic unfortunately you're right Corolla and Civics and starting to go up in price and thats very unfortunate since subcompacts are now disappearing this means larger loans for normal people. It's always interesting that vehicle evaluators stress performance. That is no way to judge an entry level vehicle. The 2020 Versa is redesigned and 'loaded' as some like to say. It is an around the town car. It is easy to drive, handles well and has all the driving warning sensors and alarms. We compare it to our 2019 Maxima SL I choose the Versa for errands. The Max is a 'road' car. The Versa is a baby Max.

I bought a 2024 manual in August. I just got home from my first road trip, put over 1200 miles on it on this trip. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and capable it was on the freeway. The only negative I can say was that when you are directly behind a semi, at highway speed, the car does get buffeted around a little bit - nothing scary. Just don't tailgate semis. After this trip, my overall average is 44.6 MPG. It was a very relaxing car to drive, even through construction zones. The small size and ease of maneuvering is much nicer than my F150 with an 8 ft bed. LOL

I bought the 2021 Versa SV model about a month ago with the 16" aluminum Rims which really make the car look sporty. The safety features in this car are incredible with six air bags and many alert safety sensors for backup, for blind-spot in the side-mirrors and its very roomy inside as well not to mention a huge trunk space available. For me, this is the sweet spot for this model. I live in Puerto Rico which is mountainous and the car responds well going up hills without lagging. I was impressed by the steering. It is very manageable and responsive. Also, the ride is very nice and for a 1.6 lt engine, it goes up to speed fairly quickly and driving at 55 to 75 it feels solid and safe to drive. Trust me, with the air conditioning on (which will keep you cool to cold) and the sound system on (shark fin antenna on sv, sr models), you will not notice the outside exterior noise and the stability, smoothness and handling are more than adequate. So my conclusion is that for safety, driving experience, sporty look for the SV and SR models, room and comfort as well as fuel efficiency, you can go wrong with this latest version of the Nissan Versa. As for the CVT transmission, it's like all cars, with sensible driving and regular maintenance you should not have to worry about this issue.

I owned the manual version which was much better. I hate that whining CVT revving all the time to bring the car up to speed. None of that nonsense with the manual and it was even more nimble. I discovered a shifting method that resulted in much quicker acceleration to 60 mph by redlining in first but then in 2nd upshifting to 3rd half way the tachometer, doing same from 3rd to 4th and getting to 5th as quickly as you can where the real pulling power actually comes to play in this car. The super light weight of this car helped a lot in this respect.

@@thuggyduggy1525 Yes I thought I was the only one. I've had mine since March 2016 at 107,000 miles. My catalytic converter started going bad last year and started rattling so my check engine light is on from that. I've looked it up and yes the exhaust is known to go bad in this generation. Funny thing is I don't live in a rust belt state. I'm from East Tennessee. August this year around 216,000 miles the muffler and the supports rusted away from each-other and the muffler fell dragging the ground and I had to get up under the car and tie it back up with a wire hanger. Now when I drive I put it in park at drive thru windows because it is so loud. When I go over train tracks or small bumps at low speed you can hear the muffler creak ,sway , and bounce back and forth. I've also been told my whole exhaust system is shot. I just had the original alternator replaced this month. I can't pay hundreds to have the exhaust replaced. I'm hoping yours won't get that bad. Have a wire hanger on hand just in case. What's strange is that it is "sub compact" but it has more room inside than mid size SUVs do. I'm 6' tall and I really like my Versa. I can put my seat back in front and then sit in the back and still have plenty of room, where as mid size SUVs my knees would be jammed against the seat. I used a Sentra before and it didn't have as much room inside and was uncomfortable.

My first new car was a 2013 Nissan Versa with auto trans. I walked almost everywhere for 3 1/2 years to afford it and paid cash. I still use it all the time and it works great. It only cost me $16,000 out the door back then. I really like the air conditioner, interior space, and the defroster works good when going to work at 6am. Glad the side vents can rotate to face the side windows for the defroster. I replaced the speakers right away with better ones though. All I have had to replace so far was the battery once last year, the windshield wipers of course, and I think I finally need new tires. Everything seems to hold up really well. I've always used 91 gas and I get 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. It usually ends up at 43.8 mpg while using the air conditioner constantly with about half highway and half city driving. I actually use more gas in the winter because of sitting for 9 minutes each morning using the defroster before driving. It looks like the new models may have slightly less leg room than my 2013 model. I like the new style of tail lights. I tried a Ford Fiesta and it had a lot less power and way less interior room. plus it costed more. The Kia Rio felt very cheap and costed $2,000 more. I didn't try the Chevy because at the time it costed close to $3,000 more than the Versa. I like the looks of the new Versa and could afford it much easier now, but I still have my 2013 version and it is in great condition and works well so I see no need to replace it.

I'm renting one while my 17 f150 gets some body work done. It's a ok car for a basic car. It's small for my taste coming from driving a truck. Will have the car for a week. One thing it need is 2 12v sockets. No center console or arm rest. Storage is limited in the car.

You can get the Versa S manual for as little as $12,500 with no dealer documentation fee. A lot of Nissan dealerships offer 15-22.5% off msrp through out the year, and 22.5-25% off msrp if you're in 2021 and buying a brand new 2020 model year and the 2021 model year is already in dealership inventory.

I am the same way .. Sentra SV vs the loaded Versa .. Sentra has the intelligent cruise; but Versa has the LED lights which is likely more practical for our dark winters. I agree on tires - sport tires are so limiting and expensive to live with - easily damaged, horrible winter options (poor selection); again another reason I would say Sentra SV .. maybe get all weather tires put on it which I have found really nice for domestic use.

My neighbor got one for $13k with discounts OTD. You can get the Yaris iA in 14k range if you wheel and deal well. Its more fun and shifts better with better MPG. I definitely would not pay 16k for either car. Bigger wheels means rougher ride, less MPG. Base is best option. Go manual. More fun and longevity.
@igotanimac13 жыл бұрын
For automatic, both the Yaris and Versa have the same exact MPG for all Trims, any tire size. 32 City 42 Highway. Only the manual version of the Yaris gets better MPG than manual version of Versa. You can get the base manual versa for about $12,500, and yes, Yaris is more like $14,000.

Should be, you can always test drive one, Nissan offering a $50 Gift Card for test drives. Remember, take the MSRP and subtract 20-24%, that's how much you should be paying. So you can get the Manual for at little as $12,500 or the top SR trim with LED headlights for $15,500.

Still has the same crappy CVT that grenades itself right after the warranty expires. Nissan is never going to gain market share until it sheds the awful reputation of Jatco-made transmissions. Go back to normal automatics, preferably ones made by another brand.

There is zero evidence Nissan has done anything to address JATCO CVT's flawed push belt design. Nothing. To recommend this car, with a JATCO CVT, instead of in manual, is doing a real disservice to consumers who are on a budget and need RELIABLE transportation. It's very rare to see the CVT make it to 200k miles in a Nissan. Honda and Toyota do not exhibit this issue. If you would of done a video for a manual Versa, I would be singing your praises but you look very young and probably don't know how to drive a 5 speed manual.
@MeynMotorGroup2 жыл бұрын
Trust me, you’re better off with a bus pass my friend. Not a car.
@kylemas20052 жыл бұрын
@@MeynMotorGroup I have no idea what that even means? I bet before you shot this, which good job btw it did look good, you knew damn well that Versa had a CVT with a long history of premature failure. Get real, my friend. Tell the consumers the truth, like Scotty Kilmer. I enjoyed this but talk a little shit next time and forewarn viewers that the new Versa might be prettier but it still has a glass transmission.
@MeynMotorGroup2 жыл бұрын
It means people are extremely poor right now and they shouldn’t even own a car. $40 for a monthly bus pass and never utter the word reliability again.
@MeynMotorGroup2 жыл бұрын
This is the hierarchy of cars I tell people Bus Pass->$5000 or Under Camry in cash->Graduate to financing a new car as quickly as possible or pay cash for sub compact turds like in this video to live the Dave Ramsey life->Finally get to the point where you are leasing new Luxury cars and never look back or ever worry about reliability and maintenance again. If one is making under $3k a month they can’t afford to finance a car or even own a car just ride the bus until you can afford a $5k Toyota cash. Then upgrade to a brand new safe car asap but you really want to be at the point where you’re leasing or doing one pay leases on luxury cars so you gotta be making at least 5-10k a month.
@kylemas20052 жыл бұрын
@@MeynMotorGroup Lol that's funny. I don't know who Dave Ramsey is but my policy is similar. I only drive cheap, new cars with a long warranty or a slightly used car with an added warranty. My wife and I are educators, so no, we don't make a bunch of money. It was either cheap cars for 20 years and pay our mortgage or nicer cars parked in front of a mediocre apartment. We choose the former, we're not quite at the bus pass level but who knows what the future holds? However I did my research and actually found a cheap car, that actually does well with a JATCO CVT7, the 78HP Mitsubishi Mirage. My used 2014 DE CVT Mirage was very reliable, after a hard 100k miles I never even had a CEL, only a failing door actuator. I totalled that car last December, I miss it dearly. So much so that I bought another 2021 ES CVT Mirage but new this time. My wife is also on her 2nd Mirage, going from a used 2017 ES G4 Mirage to a new 2022 BE G4. Nothing was wrong with her older G4 but she is a good person who never owned a new car so we took the great price CarMax gave us for the 2017 and put a 60% down payment on the 2022 and wrote a check for the remainder. If you're on tight a budget, like most teachers undeservably are, but can afford new, then I'd recommend the Mirage. Perhaps your next video can be a Mirage? Otherwise well done presentation on a terribly un-reliable Versa.
