I can imagine this is a painful process for this poor elephant 😢 you does it work to heel this abcess?
@elephantcareunchainedАй бұрын
@Braunkitten yes it's painful for the elephant. Overtime this particular abscess would heal.

Poor guy. It looks super painful with that split nail. If he's so sensitive to even you touching the area, I have no idea how he could even come close to standing on it.

Poor guy. Glad you’re helping him. Have them feed him the bananas 🍌 one right after another. And see if that will help. Hope you get it fixed on your next try.

I'm new to your channel. I love elephants. Thank you for helping them! I'm curious. Are abscesses common in elephants?
@elephantcareunchained2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Unfortunately abscesses are to common in captive elephants. They are caused mostly by being in an improper environment.

They might build a shelf on the other nails to release pressure on that area. I saw another video when they did that for a bull and a cow. I’m not a dr. But have they tried antibiotics? Maybe he shouldn’t be poking I. That hurt spot so much?..
@elephantcareunchained Жыл бұрын
You can not build a shelf for an elephant foot. Elephants actually walk on their toes and are very different from cows.

That is so sad that old man is he yelling at the Elephant because he keeps moving his foot. Lay him down and cut around on that old man's sore foot. How cruel that old man does not understand he does not need to own this Elephant. He is awfully mean. At least you are kind.

The elephants respond to the tone of voice. There are very few things you can force an elephant to do if it doesn't want to especially one that is free and isn't chained down.

If you use a grinder like for cows feet you could get things done faster and safer for all.
@elephantcareunchained2 жыл бұрын
Elephants don't have hoofs. They actually walk on their toes and is more sensitive than a hoof. This elephant had an abscess which takes skillful trimming. Using a grinder is not practical out in the field it's also great way to cripple an elephant.
@evacasas96812 жыл бұрын
The tools are not the appropriate ones, there is an electric bur that is very good, it is used for pedicures, you can buy it a little bigger to polish the rotten nail.

I've only been doing it for 20 years. So I actually know exactly what I'm doing. What would you suggest with all of your experience trimming elephant feet?
@carolynmaielua21672 жыл бұрын
Gosh stop yelling how would he feel if his toe was sore and someone was digging in his sore toe. They have no respect for there Elephants it's just money to make. They do not need to own them. He should have compassion how cruel the owner is I wish he would kick the owner

So, I think you are applying your culture onto one you have no understanding of. First of all, in Southeast Asia no one owns elephants as pets. Many families are utterly reliant on them to farm or earn enough money to feed their families through physical jobs. To say that these people "don't need the elephants" shows an amazing lack of knowledge around how much of the world lives. Secondly, I don't know about this channel--there are some HORRIBLE ones out there were completely untrained people perform unnecessary procedures in a harmful way simply for views. But given the color around the abscess (which looks like residue of copper sulfate to me, a common veterinarian treatment for foot abscesses in livestock--I grew up on a ranch/dairy) I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually a sanctuary for injured elephants. There are many of them. Lastly, I dont know that they were yelling at the elephant--this too strikes me as cultural. Not every country or culture conducts themselves the same. I hope someday you are able to travel to places other than North America and Europe, it's incredibly eye opening when you realize that we are actually the minority.
