Hi. Can you please tell me if glaucoma drops damage the eye if I don't have glaucoma. I visited 4 doctors in 2 years. 2 of them told me to start glaucoma treatment because i have glaucoma, 2 of them told me that I don't have. What would you do in my place?

Yes. using glaucoma medication may have bad effect on the eye if you do not have glaucoma. so you need to be sure of your disease if any and treat accordingly.

Hello Tom. Taking any medication not needed by our body, can be harmful as it interferes with the body's 'normal' chemistry. Would you know what were the IOP test results (pressure of fluid inside the eye)? The actual numbers I mean. They should indicate with some certainty if the eye shows signs of glaucoma? Most instruments are fairly reliable, including the ones that puff air at your eye! However, it is a fact that the earlier detected, the better it is to start treatment so that optic nerve damage does not occur. I did not know these machines existed till recently. They seem to be very similar in technology, with small spec differences. The software and graphical output will also play a big role to their popularity. Using them for a closer examination of the eye (usually done manually with microscope and white light, as you know), we can see and also quantify (measure and calculate) if and how the layers of the retina degenerate, i.e. changes in their thickness. Employment of such machines are done when necessary for a closer and more accurate result. If you are sceptical, then worth finding out the test results. See for yourself how they compare to known 'normal' values. Have another test if needed. The eye pressure varies in the day, but regular tests (once or twice a year) will show if the pressure is elevated or changes. Our eyes are so important. If the OP results are not decisive, then it might be a good idea to go for an OCT test? Anyway, amazing machines, amazing technology and global top notch research and science in practice!
