The AMGs and MPower cars have a reputation to maintain of a fast yet very comfortable and fully loaded cars. Porsche on the other hand with the 911s has only 2 goals, everyday drivability and speed. Now imagine if an AMG would truly build a car that is light. Even their Black Series cars are actually heavy and retain most of the options. They are just different cars. What Porsche does perfect? Its how you can just every day drive their cars.

There is something called "Rechtsfahrgebot" in Germany. It translates to: drive on the right most lane if possible. And if you wanna overtake you gotta do it from the left. So if you're a half decent human being on the autobahn in Germany you will most likely leave the left lane free for faster going people to overtake you without breaking.

340 kph is definitely the top speed. You were clearly on the edge of the redline in 8th gear. I can't imagine how quickly things would go south if you were to see an obstacle on the autobahn at 340, I guess you wouldn't have much time to think about it. I also love the way people drive in the right lane where they belong. In the US you would struggle to find a piece of road where you could reach that kind of speed and still not have stupid people in the left lane doing less than the speed limit.... Really makes me miss living in Germany. Great review. Love the Turbo S! Long live Porsche!

15:57 - I'm not an expert in aerodynamics (though I am a commercial pilot), but my understanding of splitters/spoilers is that they provide downforce which is only necessary within a certain range of speed. Once a threshold is reached, these surfaces are merely contributing parasitic drag; an exception to this would be an LMP car which might otherwise try to take flight. In other words, say above 300km/h, this vehicle should accelerate *more easily* with the surfaces retracted. Also, the body of the car itself will produce enough downforce that they are no longer beneficial. ...But I don't work for Porsche, so it's only speculation.

Don't agree. The body of the car (as all cars really) has the same shape as an aircraft wing. The air passes the top of the car faster than underneath it, and that creates lift. Therefore the spoiler is needed to create down force to counter the lift which again ensures grip to handle the car. The faster you go, the more counter force you need. It might accelerate more easily without the spoiler (no parasitic drag), but you don't want to be in that car at 340 km/h with poor traction.

Wings like that are more for stability than downforce for cornering. Helps give the driver confidence going at those speeds.
