The 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan now comes with the RE Meteor 350 sourced Tripper Navigation, new colour schemes, and some functional changes. So, do these changes make it a better bike, and is it a Swiss Knife of motorcycles? Do let us know in the comments below.

I didn't expect this 10-minute video to be so informative and yet it was. The intro section was well made too. All in all, a great video. As for the bike, it is still pretty good and the changes are welcome. I don't much care for the Tripper pod, though. The Himalayan is the antithesis of bleeding edge, sophisticated technology so that pod should have been an optional extra and not a standard feature. It really needs to shed some weight and gain a few horses. The dynamics are already well sorted. An increase of displacement to 500 cc should take care of that well enough.
@vikrantsingh69163 жыл бұрын
Great to hear you liked the video! And you make some pertinent points there. But as they say - there’s always room for improvement.
@twowheeledparadox3 жыл бұрын
@@vikrantsingh6916 Absolutely.
@whatsstefon3 жыл бұрын
Agree 100% Tripper should have been made an optional extra. Lots of folks say that the bike should come with the 650 twin engine. I think a good middle ground would be a newly designed 500cc engine with balance shaft, but maintain the pushrods with hydraulic lifters. Keeping maintenance down, but slightly raising torque and HP, along with further refinement.
@twowheeledparadox3 жыл бұрын
@@whatsstefon One of the reasons the 650 engine from the Interceptor won't work in the Himalayan is that it is too wide. There is no doubt that it would bump up weight significantly. Yes, I also believe that increasing the capacity of the existing engine to 500 cc will give it a noticeable improvement in performance as even the 462 cc barrel from Hitchcock's shows a rise in the power and especially the torque graphs. I don't see the value in going back to pushrods, though. The current Himalayan already has an overhead camshaft driven by a timing chain. The valve clearance adjustment is of the locknut type so it is simple. Counterbalance shaft is also already there next to the crankshaft.
@whatsstefon3 жыл бұрын
@@twowheeledparadox agree. The twin is wide compared to a slim Japanese twin engine. The Hitchcock’s kit does look good. Although, if I’m honest, I don’t think the cost of the upgrade is worth the gains. As for the pushrods and all, I’m just really old school and love pushrod engines. I know the tappets are easy to adjust and maintain. Thank you for your thoughts.

I dont mind comfort cruising all day rather than rush, also highly safe. The tyres of himalayan should also be available with tour/road version which can do some off tarmac rather than always on adv tyres. I will defunitely want to change tyres to more highways version immediately.

A very well made review. I would of been interested in seeing more about the new navigation aid - does it work on off road trails? It would also of been interesting to see how a larger person fits on the Himalayan (I'm 6'3"). Can you fit stronger springs and a better bash plate for longer off road tours? Are there stronger inner tubes available to protect against punctures?

As a 6ft 2 rider, Himalayan was surprisingly comfy to ride and I found the seating position pretty good. And as far I know, literlly all parts can be upgraded. Friend of mine swapped the factory springs with Hitchcock after market ones.

Very good review! I was seriously considering the Himalayan for my first bike that I plan to buy next year. I've been looking at a lot of reviews and talking to some people, and I notice people who have no experience on it advise against it based solely on the numbers (power the main issue). People who have riden it speak like this review, and the questions in the end of the review really highlight why I'm considering it. Getting out of the city, out of traffic, ride relaxed and at a slower/medium pace. For someone who doesn't like speed, this would be almost perfect for me. I just wonder, have there been any aftermarket brake workarounds performed?
@nytroxnikko15323 жыл бұрын
exactly. Too many people talk as if they cruise at 200 kmph. Ofcourse Xpulse is underpowered though but Himalyan has just enough power to enjoy riding at good cruising speeds.
@filips9893 жыл бұрын
@@nytroxnikko1532 the bike is amazing, especially for a beginner. I couldn't wait for next year so I just got one 10 days ago. The speed is perfect for my taste. It leans into the corners in such a way it gives me (as a comoletely new rider) more confidence than I have on my own. I took it on a rocky trail through a nearby forest and again, so comfortable and reassuring - I completely understand what a lot of reviews have said - it invites you to try new stuff and is extremely forgiving. Of course, I'm still in a honeymoon phase, but I honestly cannot see myself wanting more after just one year, as everyone I know claims I will. To compare, we have a small city hatch i10 (4 cyl, 87 bhp model) for running around town and it's a perky little car that I used to take just to cruise around. This is on par with speed, and I'm still at the break in period. So again, as someone who doesn't like driving fast, this bike is more than capable for me and needs to be looked at that way.

I traded my 20/20 in for a 2021. The bs4 had a few issues but the bs6 I am extremely content with. People complain about the brakes but I find no problem whatsoever with it. as for the clutch I find no problem in City driving at all. Even in the hills no problem so I don't see where this is an issue. If you don't have the strength to ride don't get on the bike. Not just this bike but any bike.if you think this is heavy why don't you try to lifting a African twin up after it lays over. Everything comes with a price and most of it is common sense if you don't want to pay it. Not a bad review. The cycle was never meant to conquer the world. It was meant to put you in touch with the earth... Only my opinion but the bs6 has a far more manageable torque curve through 5500. My bs4 had a flat spot about 4200. the bs6 also seems to have a bit more at the bottom in the torque range. I'm 6 ft 4 220 lb in 66 years old. You don't hear me complaining but you do hear me praising it

A good review covering necessary aspects! Thank you! Don't really understand why RE brings an adventure motorcycle with Tube tyres? Is there any actual reason why they chose tube over tubless? Any idea what's a good tubeless tyre to replace the stock ones?
@kymstock18522 жыл бұрын
1)The rationale of tubed tyres for adventure bikes comes from rim damage due to hitting rocks. If you hit a rock hard enough the air seal is lost . Time for a tow truck , or a very long walk out. This does not occur in a tubed tyre, unless the tube is damaged, but that is repairable trail side. 2) Shinko 705
