While I hate that Bama lost the rematch, this game has to be one of Saban's best coaching jobs. I rank it up there with 2009 Florida and 2011 LSU in the BCS. Most everyone gave Alabama no chance. I won't let the loss in January ruin this memory for me!
@louieo.blevinsmusic20112 жыл бұрын
Hell, even though we lost the NC game it was still one of Saban’s best coached games IMO. You can’t win if you’re out 3/4 of your best WR’s and your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string CB’s in a NC game. Yet Saban still had out boys rdy to play. Especially the front 7 on defense. If we had our CB’s with the kinda pressure we kept getting then they def don’t score as much as they did. If we had Metchie/Williams and the CB’s than we prob beat them worse than in this SECCG. I’m from Ga and root for them when not playing Bama. I don’t have a bit of hate in my heart for them and I’m happy for my family/friends that finally got to celebrate winning the big one. That being said……. might be the worst National Championship team I’ve ever seen though I’ve only been watching since ‘05. They were probably a bit better than they were last year. Don’t get me wrong, the defense was almost as good as our 2011 squad coached by Kirby but their offense was terrrrrrrrible outside kf Bowers and Cook which didn’t do crap ‘till we were tired. Got tired on defense cause our WR’s with hardly any to no experience just couldn’t help Bryce keep moving the ball or get 6 as opposed to 3.

We were right on the verge of breaking the rematch open when Jamo tore his knee. At that point we just ran out of gas. It’s incredible that our injury luck was that bad and we still took Georgia to the wire in the natty. We’re gonna be scary this year

A great win for Alabama in their first game as an underdog since the 2015 Georgia game. With this win, Alabama secures its 33rd conference championship. I was thrilled with this win, and you have to feel very proud of how Alabama proved the doubters wrong. But this game is also a strong example of how the playoff format has made college football worse. It could have been the most consequential game of the season and one of the most memorable outcomes in SEC championship game history. Instead, it just determined seeding for the playoff and there is a very strong possibility that these teams will meet again in just over a month. Every year there is talk that one team in this game could lose and still make the playoff. When they expand the playoff, it will be a situation where both teams can lose and still make it. At that point you're going to see teams just sit their starters or have half the team opt out. The playoff will eventually do to conference championship games the same thing it has done to bowl season.

Agreed. I'm all for a bigger playoff slugfest at the end of the season. Hell, if we can send people to Mars, I sure as hell know the greedy a** NCAA can figure out a better playoff system for big time college football. Let Elon Musk crunch the numbers.

5:06....Down 10-0 early in the second and facing a 3rd down, if Bama doesn't convert, it could have gone sideways quickly. Not only do they convert, they score, and instead open their own floodgates for scores on 5 straight possessions.

I legitimately thought we might lose this game last Saturday, what with Georgia's handling of everyone else on their schedule. They had destroyed Florida (who we just barely managed to beat), completely shut out Arkansas (another nervy game for us), etc. Stetson Bennett has performed admirably in his role as Georgia QB, particularly as a walk-on. I think we just finally managed to put everything together. Also, The O-Line finally coming through against their excellent defense was probably one of the two or three biggest contributing factors to winning the title.

At the end of the Iron Bowl, I felt that Bama had no shot in this game. By kickoff, I felt confident that they would keep it close and give themselves a chance to win late. I never expected them to win by over two touchdowns.
@crewkid523 жыл бұрын
@@BamaRewind I know what you mean. I went to the Arkansas game. Based on the defensive performance in that one (to be fair, though, KJ Jefferson is a stud), I wasn't sure we were going to even beat *Auburn* let alone Georgia. When we did beat Auburn - even with all those offensive and defensive issues - I was thinking that we might give Georgia a run. When we started kicking the crap out of them it was a little surreal lol

It’s obvious to me now that between Smart and Muschamp they can’t coach a secondary to save their lives. Hell, even our secondary finished ahead of theirs in pass defense as well as yards given up per play. When they played teams that could pass they…….lost to Bama, came close to losing to us again in the NC game… Young threw for 380 yards with freshman Brooks, freshman A.Hall, Bolden and Latu who had 100+ yards, Ohio St, LSU threw for 492 yards using 2 diff QBs and two of their WRs had 100+ receiving yards. Just throw on UGA. I’ll give UGA credit this past year though as Monken and Stetson were something else. Besides the o-line and TE… where was the elite offensive talent? Yet they had the #1 offense and it was a deadly offense. Thankfully Monken is gone and they got Bobo. (🎉) I rlly wish Bama could drop Texas like they dropped playing Oklahoma next season as well as Bama played in the East. I wanna just have to beat Tennessee to get to ATL. lol.

@@savagetigerfbfan6673 everyone called it. The kid should’ve been a 5 star easily. Best TE in the country. Makes Darnell Washington look like a 3 star. We at least shut him down ‘till our defense couldn’t take anymore. Bama being without 3 outta 4 of their best WR’s and their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string CB’s got ‘em down the stretch. Can’t beat a good team twice that banged up.

And because of this complete domination by Bama over UGA….UGA still hasn’t had a winning record over Bama since 2007 and UGA hasn’t beaten Bama in the state of Georgia in 20 years. UGA might’ve won the ‘21/‘22 season NC but Bama was the best team. Literally beat UGA after the first drive of the 3rd Q…
