The car we have today is likely the most attainable one that a boy racer would have an eye on and what better than to have our resident boy racer review it. The 2021 Suzuki Swift Sport might not break any sales records, but it being manual only in Singapore will certainly appeal to enthusiasts.

Hi guys, we mistakenly listed the Swift Sport as a Category B COE car. It is a Category A COE car. Apologies for the confusion caused. - Jon

Thanks for putting up the review! The Swift is indeed a fun car to drive. Driving a 1.0 turbo swift and enjoying the corners as what you mentioned. The maneuverability just brings joy. And yes, space for passengers at the back is great despite it being a compact. One thing you lack to mention is the outstanding fuel economy which Suzuki claims to 21.2km/l. Pretty good for a "sporty" car.

Great review Julian ❤️ Same sentiments when driving the ZC33S. What i like about it- Chuckable’, fun hatch, Manual transmission, good looks, uncommon on the road, no turbo lag, wheel spins (even though it’s front wheels). Pricey? u can save a lot by getting a used one after 1-2 years

CM should also bring in the auto variant for the swift sport. Will help to increase their sales.

Hi Julian, Great review. The Swift has always been a personal favorite for me. And the Sport has manual transmission!!! That is definitely a car for the driver.

Been driving the 1st gen Swift Sport 1.6L manual for 7 plus yrs till COE up, man this hot hatch is a real blast to drive due to its light weight plus rigid body. Car is damn reliable even you drive like you stole it since days one. No major engine or technical problems throughout the years even driving her hard occasionally, and only replaced the clutch plus the small ac pump besides those regular wear and tear components that's all. Imo it's the best Cat A hatchback car around if you are looking for a truly reliable and sporty drive!

$110k for a compact hatchback? I have to pass man. Rather wait for COE to drop to $30k then maybe can consider.

Lovely car to drive, chassis composure is great - that busy low speed ride (which isnt too bad at all) gives way to excellent composure at speeds over broken roads. Gear shifts are slick and steering feel really nice. yes, interior is cheap but likely more durable than soft touch vag rubber. But there is some competition at this price point for those who do not mind automatics. The PI Non hybrids are lighter and quicker but expensive with the gap in Cat A and B, and then you have the accomplished Ibiza that is sorted everywhere, and the rather unique and surprisingly nippy Note epower.

Hi! Actually Swift Sport mild hybrid was set to 127hp not because of Champion Motors wanted to make the car a Cat A COE car, it’s due to Suzuki’s decision to down-tune the Swift Sport mild hybrid to meet the emission requirements.
@rayco82
@rayco82 3 жыл бұрын
And they didnt include the 13bhp & 54nm torque from the mild hybrid in order to keep it within CAT A. Thats a smart loop hole. So actually the hybrid has the same HP as the non hybrid.
@silenthunt
@silenthunt 3 жыл бұрын
@@rayco82 but that doesn't explain why the century sprint of the mild hybrid SS is mere 9.1sec? The original 140ps version has a 0-100 timing within the 7-8 sec. Also, as an enthusiast's car, how moddable is the hybrid system compared to the regular boosterjet? The 140ps unit is quite tuneable..

@@silenthunt Very good questions
@-funkycher-
@-funkycher- 3 жыл бұрын
@@silenthunt well, let me try to see if I can answer your questions, and perhaps add abit of insight. Firstly, this varient(hybrid) was created due to the increasing stringent euro emmisions in well, europe. In sg we mostly follow their trims for cars. So, for better emissions, you can down tune in attempt to increase the efficiency of the engine. Going hybrid is also another perfect choice in this current tech age as it not only can improve emissions further, it will also add power. So effectively you have 142hp and 288nm of torque. But, wait. Here's the catch. You only see this output when your battery is fully charged and assisting the engine 100%. When its totally empty(eg when climbing the genting mountain) you will still have 127 and 235. Now, in reality you will be seeing a combined output somewhere in the midst of those 2 sets of numbers. The output figures are dynamic, which means its changing with time. As for the 0-100 sprint, its slower than the k14c because 1) its heavier and 2) even though max combined is higher than non-hybrid, most of the time you are less than 142 hp( this is also a very light car, so torque has lesser relative impact than horsepower). As to why suzuki chooses to brand it as 127 235 rather than a higher amount due to electrical power. Its simple. Its better to over deliver. 127 is the max engine output, but given the nature of the mild hybrid, its comparatively insignificant and there might be occasions the electrical system is low on charge and do not assist your drive. They probably want to avoid lawsuits if they advertised higher? For customisation (rather than modification, garmen dun like that word), well you can go 2 ways, you can improve the engine, or even improve the electrical system. Electrical car tech is booming in this century, so I won't be surprised if aftermarket names start producing electrical enhancing parts. So all in all a 17-18km/l(conservative) good handling, plentiful turbo torqued car that uses electricity to cover its non-existant turbo lag. I say, its really a no brainer. Ai peah Ai qiee Ai dua luap nee? Naah, here lor.

@@-funkycher- for your effort in writing the wall of text, I give you a thumbs up...lol Actually I sort of knew it is due to the European standards but I was abit disappointed that Suzuki could not keen up with the emissions standard without doing the hybrid on their engines. The 140bhp booster jet had so much potential and its supposed to be a milestone for Suzuki. What a bummer.

Mazda 2 is tight and nimble but the Swift Sport has more torque to play with. It will never keep up with the Swift Sport after the apex of the the corner... The swift sport has a heavier steering too got better feedback in handling.
