Here is the Suzuki Swift Sport. The Suzuki Swift Sport for 2022 comes with a 1.4 turbo engine producing 130bhp. It will do 0-62mph in 9 seconds. Its a fun car and great value for money. is the Suzuki Swift Sport a match for the Abarth 595? In this video i do a comparison of both the Suzuki Swift Sport and the Abarth 595.

I drove the Abarth 500 and 595 for 8,5 years and now got the Swift Sport. The build quality of the Abarth was a real disaster, also the continous power failure of the 595, according to fiat/fca du to the noise emission regulations. With the Suzuki no problems at all. It is as fast and agile, 80 kg less heavy and beside the missing exhaust note overall the far better hot hatch. And the fuel consumption in the city improved from 33 mpg in the Abarth to 58,7 mpg in the Suzuki! 🙂

I own a Suzuki Swift Sport, non-hybrid version and champion yellow color. My options were an Abarth 595 Pista or a Swift Sport, I drive tested the Abarth and I can confirm the power for the daily drive is not a difference, both have enough hp to have some fun on twisty roads. However the Abarth was funnier to drive, probably because of the exhaust system, thats why im getting a custom exhaust system soon hehe. If you want a car for weekends and having fun: Abarth If you want a car for the daily, go work, shopping, etc, but also, have some fun: Suzuki

Interesting report, I have the non hybrid Sport. I've seen these for sale new at £20.5 k + - . As I'm in my late 60s I ruled out the Abarth, too small and the rear doors on the Swift are a big bonus . And for performance a quoted 0-62 time of 9.1 seconds should be taken with a pinch of salt if my non hybrid is anything to go by. A Fiesta ST that a friend owns has to be driven flat out to stay ahead of her, also things like infotainment systems don't interest me, but 100% reliability that I've had from Suzuki for nearly 20 years does. Fiat/Abarth have some catching up to do there. It's not for everyone, but I like it, best Pip 👍

Not sure where that 9second figure is from but these should do 0-100km/h 7.3 seconds for the manual and about 7.01 for the auto (as measured in independent testing anyway). They make a more sense here in Australia as the Swift Sport is quite a bit cheaper than a Fiesta ST, i20N or Abarth 595 and Suzuki has a much better reputation for reliability than most of those here too.

9,1 was the time suzuki declared officially. I've have a hybrid and got 8.1 secs with battery discarged. Consider that i'm not a professional driver, lost a bit because of traction wheel spinning. for the The previous model suzuki declared 8.1 but it was realistically a 7.2 secs. So if for this suzuki declare a 9.1 sec i expect 8.1 a real time.

I have a the non-hybrid ZC33S model from 2019, and I agree with the other owners on here, it's amazing value for money. I changed the factory Continental tyres to Goodyear Eagle F1's and they added a lot more feel to the steering but other than that it's stock. You don't see many, it's easy to live with and when you're really pushing down a B-road it will still feel plenty quick & capable enough. The torque & lightweight means the pull even at motorway speeds surprises ALOT of people. Admittedly the day is coming when I will be saying goodbye to the Swift (onwards and upwards) but when that day comes I will be sad. It's a very likable car with a lot of character.

I bought one of the first swift sport 1.4T's - non hybrid BEFORE launch it was delivered in July 2018. About £15800 with the introductory launch discount etc.... (I saw a yellow sport on a transporter before the official launch and popped into the local dealership and it was there - so had a test drive before the launch and ordered it) Specs say it was good for 7.8 0-60 however that was with 138bhp yet many sport owners who put it on a dyno were getting 150bhp, if you put 99 ron petrol in you get even more power, so 7.1 0-60 is possible. If I had to choose now I'd not buy one as the price/performance ration has really gone south. fiat 500/abarth 2 doors - too small, and not the best for reliability, but I do admire those I see and the owners they have to be real car nuts 👍to live with the foibles you get owning a sporty Italian car. I'm just not that brave. 🤫

I've just got rid of an Abarth 595 Competizione after a year of ownership. Sure, it was a very fun thing to drive but round me, in East Lancs, it was just nowhere near the correct balance between fun and practicality that meant it spent a lot of time in the garage and it just wasn't suitable for a lot of things. For me the video didn't seem to touch on some of the real world benefits of the Swift (5-doors, a 6-spd box). My friend runs one of the non-MHEV versions and I honestly wish I'd bought it instead of the 595. Yes, the Monza exhaust sounds fantastic, until you're stuck in traffic outside of a school. I'm actively trying to convince my wife that the Swift Sport would be a good alternative for our other vehicle.

So there's plenty of gains for tuning , suzuki also underquoted the bhp as stock ones regularly dyno 150hp not 130hp.Yes the suzuki infotainment is crap and stock they are a bit muted, but I'd take a guess they handle much better than a abarth, plus loads of kit, reliable and much more car for the money, seems a bit of a biased review from a ex abarth owner 🤷‍♂️

I'm really not sure about your take on this as it feels like a bit of a sponsored review where you can't be fully critical. You can get a 140ps Fiesta ST-Line from the previous generation with lower mileage for around half the cost of this. Yes, it doesn't have the fanciest infotainment system or interior but it's got a better engine and it's like a mini ST. Or you could even just get a full on ST, or go for a Focus version which has better interior with the Sync 3 system etc. I don't think anyone looking for their first car is going to splurge 23k on one of these. Even me being fortunate to get my ST-Line from new around 6 years ago, it was not over 20k, and you're heading into i20N/i30N territory or something like a Golf GTi surely for this kind of money.

The 7-year extended warranty, trying to lower insurance premiums for its target age group market, even getting round government tax systems in some countries that have a factor for vehicle power. When they aren't shipping this model in vast enough quantities to do too much customisation of power tunes from factory, it makes perfect sense to have a strong and economical engine as a base, purposefully detune its peaks (or even downplay its official performance figures), but leave in the obvious possibility for tuning (as this car has been for over a decade - a tuner car). Reviewers coming in to the lightest hot hatch on the market with an above average handling and manual gearbox, then dissing it for official straight line speed specs, aren't doing their jobs. The point of the SSS is to bring the hot (or warm, if you insist) hatch to as many people as possible. It's just like how the Mazda 3 in the UK could have come with a 160hp maximum, but deliberately chose to limit the top end to 120hp on the 2.0L. It's a smart, considered and subtle approach and as you clearly felt, the point of the car lies in other strengths, so it felt no need to boast regardless of a 7.5, 8 or 9s century sprint. The buyers who know why, will know.

You should compare the 32s (the old shape) 1.6 N/A (it loves getting its teeth kicked in) to the 595. I have had both. 595 noise and faster yes. 32s better handling, comfort, toys yes.

You need to compare the Abarth to the previous version with the extra power ideally. Plus I don't think you even mentioned a crucial ownership trait that is reliability.

That's because Suzuki have a much better reputation for reliability and he's not even trying to hide his bias. They're also easier to work on.

I had choice between Suzuki Swift Sport mine is 1.4 no hybrid. I have driven abarth 595 t-jet. Being over 6ft the Swift suits me better. Would have drive hybrid sport. The Swift sport without hybrid just needs few extras to enhance power. I would agree though the Swift sport lacks in places compared to Abarth vice versa.

Took it to a quarter mile strip literally just for a laugh and it is neck and neck with my work mates 2020 fiesta ST I had better results launching from second gear , Think maybe a better driver could shave a few tenths of my 14.8 time.

Engine mount is at its limit, for the non hybrid one anyway. Any more power would make the car a bit scary to drive. Stiffer engine mount fixes a lot of thing for this car, more audible engine + exhaust sound and a lot more visceral driving experience. On 98 octane, the auto version does low 7 to high 6 to a hundred km/h. On Racechip, low 6 is achievable, all with no launch control.

Basically the same engine as the Abarth. The Adam S and VXR is an Abarth engine. I love this one and the 595, 695, etc. But because of my height, I would buy one of these instead of an Abarth. This if brand new. Used, I would definetly go for an Abarth Evo. Its the nicest Abarth of all. This Swift if very good for tall people and very confortable too. But definetly an Abarth stands out more. Someone starts an Abarth and from a good distance, you know its an Abarth.

Maybe it's because I live in Italy and see 595s every day, but the swift looks much better to me. The Abarth is extremely reliable too but will never be as fuel efficient as the Suzuki (even the non Hybrid). As far as performance goes, let's just say that the old one without the hybrid system would have easily kept up with the Abarth
