14:28 the Model 3 is more efficient than the Model Y so it gets more miles per hour of charging than the Model Y at the same kW charge power. Tesla wall connector owners manual has a chart showing the MPH charge rate for each model per amp setting. If you plugged a Tesla Semi into your charger, it would get much less miles per hour. I hope that makes sense the way I explained it.

@Arpedk3 жыл бұрын
Regarding the different charging speeds it is all about the efficiency between the Model 3 SR+ (142 MPGe) and Model Y LR (125 MPGe). So you have the same on-board AC charger 110v or 220v in the US so you are getting the exact same kW of power, but to calculate added miles per hours you have to multiply with the MPGe giving the SR+ about 14% higher miles per hour on a home charger. Long range batteries will still have higher miles per hour and kW of power at a supercharger V3.
@trevormf3 жыл бұрын
Regarding charging: you weren’t looking at the rate of charging, you were looking at miles gained, so of course the model 3 would show a higher number because it’s a more efficient vehicle. It can go further on the same amount of power.

I am a Tesla share holder and love Teslas. However, Tesla over exaggerated their range claim. For example, a model 3 SR+ with a claimed 263 mile range would realistically cover about 220 miles. I wish Tesla’s range claim would reflect real world range.
@Gjeebs3 жыл бұрын
You can get that range no problem but you have to drive the speed that warrants that range just like a gas powered car. The tough part is charging takes so long so you don’t run the battery down so much
@tbvv67293 жыл бұрын
@@Gjeebs I think to get the range advertised, you would have to drive at 55 mph under ideal conditions without using heat or AC. In my area if you drive 55 mph on the highway, you’ll get run over. Otherwise I think Tesla is ahead of all other manufacturers in their EV techs and back it up with my investment money. I think Tesla have a great future in the next 10 years.

It's most convenient to think of charging speeds in distance per hour, but it's a mistake to confuse this with actual energy transfer and this is becoming more common as EV drivers begin to think of charging in distances. MPH/KPH is a great way to compare different *cars* on the same charger and even to compare different *chargers* on the same car, but it's not an energy metric and should not be used as such.
@pheezus3 жыл бұрын
I believe that a smaller lighter battery has less resistance when pushing electrons so it is able to push at a faster rate than your larger battery in the Y. The higher the capacitance, the harder it is to push the electrons back to a state where it is "charged". If that makes any sense. I have to think back to the electromagnetism classes I took in college lol
@johnd15612 жыл бұрын
The charging speed in miles per hour os considering the tesla's efficiency. Since you are comparing Nick's Model 3 charging speed to your Model Y charging speed, Nick's will have a higher mph since his will get more miles per KW. If you measure the speed in KPH they will be the same.

Charging speed in kW is exactly the same. The differences in charging speed in MPH is based upon how efficient your car operates when it is driven. If your efficiency is 300wh/Mile, you simply require more energy to go the same distance as a car that only requires 250wh/Mile. That said, a Model 3 will always have a faster charging speed in MPH than a Model Y. No amount of HydroSilex can change this.

So is SR a viable option? This dude made it so. Before this video I was completely sold on the extended range
@Gjeebs3 жыл бұрын
It can be but I think the long range is what people should get. It's worth the extra 9 grand

Another great video! Thanks! Keep em coming...question for you: did you drive the 3 long enough to compare the ride and noise levels to your model Y?

I would have needed to drive it on the highway to really tell. Might do it in a future video

I'm in the Phoenix area also and looking to get a SR+ Model 3. Is the audio system the same and does it have the same number of speakers as the LR?

Can someone explain the meaning of heat pump? I mean don’t all cars have heat pump? Are we talking about a heater for heating up the inside at winter time? Sorry for stupid question but it seams weird if all cars don’t come with heat pump. In that case from what year did they get it in m3? If I buy an earlier year without, can one upgrade to the new pump later?
