Get rid of the stock tires asap!! trust me on this this one. Replaced my Bontragers with Maxxis and the handling was vastly improved! Beautiful bike...Ive got the 2020 Trek Fuel EX 9.8

What width bars did you swap to? And what rise are the renthals? How many spacers do you run under the stem? What stem length did you settle on eventually? Just bought one and trying to get my cockpit set up, just curious what you're running. Great in depth review, keep it up!
@PedalhoundsTV3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate Thanks for that, much appreciated. I run 760 bars with a 30mm rise, I like the feel of that setup and I also use the standard 35mm stem that comes on the bike. One thing I also run is the Ergon GE1 evo grips, the go on every bike I have.
@TheGmacldizzl3 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, thats interesting, I too was looking at the 30mm renthals to replace the bontrager. How many spacers do you run under your stem? Mine is the slash 8 which comes with a 40mm stem
@PedalhoundsTV3 жыл бұрын
@@TheGmacldizzl I run one spacer under and one above, that way if I'm going to the Alps etc I can raise it one or lower it if I'm heading for more pedal type locations, works for me 😊

Great bike! What is your height for the M/L frame, if I may ask? I am 5 ft 9 with shoes on and I think going the same M/L
@PedalhoundsTV3 жыл бұрын
I am rhe exact same as you 5.9 with shoes so the M/L would be spot on. I tried a Large frame, although the reach felt great for climbing it was way to long for decents, tight corners where a nightmare and generally felt very awkward. I have upped my stem to a 40mm thought but the jury is still out on it at the moment
@ioannisparaskevopoulos11203 жыл бұрын
@@PedalhoundsTV Thanks man, do you still feel stretched in the M/L as far as reach is concerned, or upright position while pedaling on flats?
@PedalhoundsTV3 жыл бұрын
@@ioannisparaskevopoulos1120 It feels just right when out of the saddle, plenty of pull on the bars to get the power down and nicely balanced when descending, It gives you way more confidence to hit Stuff much harder and faster than the older slash.

@PedalhoundsTV4 жыл бұрын
Yes still on it but you get a much wider turn before it hits, you can also remove it if you want and the forks will clear the top tube no problem. Personally I would leave it in.

It actually climbs very well Tom, it climbs better than the previous model which if I'm honest wouldn't have been difficult but yeah it's impressive for a big bike.

How agile is the new Slash compared to the old one?
@PedalhoundsTV4 жыл бұрын
I find it brilliant on the tight climbs and very stable and controllable on the tight descents but with way more stability and balance, especially at higher speeds
@exomtb92984 жыл бұрын
@@PedalhoundsTV So is it still agile compared to other enduro bikes or did it lose it's playful character?
@PedalhoundsTV4 жыл бұрын
@@exomtb9298 It's very Agile and very playful, with the introduction of the M/L sizing on the carbon models it will fit a lot of people better. In the old version the Medium was to small and the large had issues with the seat post drop for that in between rider, this addresses that . I have found it much more fun to ride than my 2020 .
