I had similar experience with Ezone Tour... felt sluggish to me especially at net. Great plow and spin if you can get the tip speed, but just too head heavy on the balance for me. I tried tail weighting it but ultimately it was at higher static weight than I want these days. I also was surprised at the stiff feel of the frame. It didn’t bother my arm at the time because I didn’t hit with it for long before I decided it wasn’t for me... but that was a concern. Ezone 98 played softer to me than the Tour which was surprising given that the Tour I believe is less stiff in terms of RA. I’m really enjoying the 360+ Speed Pro currently and I’m looking to see what the Vcore 95 might do since I haven’t hit with that. It’ll be hard to unseat the Speed Pro, but we will see.

Totally agree, the standard ezone 98 isn’t softer but it needs a bit higher tension. I use a blade but have used the ezone 98 a lot, it needs 2-3 more pounds of tension than perhaps other racquets, try polytour pro at like 53-55lbs, it’s not soft

Maybe Vcore 98 vs Ezone 98 (regular) is a fairer comparison? How would you gauge one against the other? I have trouble understanding the difference. I think Babolat specifically shines here. Although I’m not a fan, their lineup is super clear and different enough when comparing different models.

@hoaluu572
@hoaluu572 3 жыл бұрын
Tried both, vcore offers a bit more of a muted feel compared to a more lively feel of ezone. Both are comfortable and both very user friendly. Vcore is more close to a babalot pure strike (coming from babalot user) but more feel and control. Ezone is a very well rounded racket, more like a blade with more power or closer to a 2nd gen pure strike or technifibre tfight, but more of a softer, trampoline feeling. Hope this helps!

Played for a while with the Ezone 98, needed to add some weight on 3 and 9 to improve stability, then tested the Ezone 98 Tour and I was blown away by its plush feeling and plow through. Suffered from golf elbow for a while before I started using it, so a switch to a 340gr strung racket was a bit of a risk, but it worked out amazing for me. Mind you, I string them with Volkl Power Fiber Pro 18, at 22kg , a super soft multi (yellow) Easy top spin from both wings (one handed backhand) huge sweet spot, very stable on off center hits. Only con is the response on reaction volleys that tend to fly out a bit. Maybe increasing string tension or a hybrid set up will improve this.

demo'd the vcore 98 today and holy smokes no joke I was playing out of my skin. Couldn't believe the accuracy and spin I was getting from the racquet. I was literally just aiming for targets and was painting the lines. The feedback from the racquet I was getting was insane. I could almost tell how much spin I needed to get the ball where I want. I play with moderate amount of topspin and slice backhand most times and both were on point. Beat my friend 6-0 and his feedback was that he had less time to react to my shots since it was coming hard and fast. The only downside of the racquet is that it is slightly too headlight which made volleys difficult but not impossible. You just need to stab the volleys so it may not be the best for reaction volleys but at least it is more maneuverable at the net then head heavy racquets. I may need to add some lead tape to the head to give it more stability and plough through to match the ezone tour 98 which doesn't bother me either way since I usually add a protection tape to the head and like my swingweight to be above 330. Had no issue with feel. Definitely worth a demo and if you want to make it play like an ezone 98 but with more spin and sweetspot and don't mind customizing then go with the vcore 98.

I’m a VCORE guy and I also own a EZONE 98. I can 100% relate to how the EZONE being stiffer and less manoeuvrable and giving me a sore arm especially since I play with a single-handed backhand. I can hit a very crisp and clean winner with EZONE but definitely can’t win a tight match with it. I can only imagine EZONE Tour requires even more strength to handle

Don't play with lots of spin, more of a flatter player, and Ezone Tour plow and stability are just great for that. I also put some weight in the handle to make it headlight, don't mind the 350grams weight..But I also felt it was stiff, although RA and vibrations data suggest otherwise, its data is very similar to the 2018 Vcore 95 actually on TW (the main reason I actually bought the tour for extra stability and bigger sweetspot), but feels very different even with same string/tension setup. Even at 50lbs it felt a little stiff for my taste, and should probably lower the tension to mid-high 40s with a full poly. I also felt that it was great for serves and at the net, and even for one handed backhand, it wasn't bad. Not my main racquet but I keep it in one in my bag, especially for the very hard hitters.

Thanks for providing insight to the difference between Yonex lines which none of the tennis stores' reviews do. It's interesting to hear that the EZone Tour hurts your arm compared to stiffer RA models. I guess you need to test different models but they're not typically offered with hybrid stringing. I play the 2017 EZone 98 weighted to 12 oz and 12 pts HL. Gut/poly at 56/52 #. Can't find any used ones so am looking at the 2021 VCore 98 or EZone 98 but reviews are all different.

I'm so glad, Karue, that you mentioned you would be using two different rackets in a tournament. Apart from the sponsorship issue, I've thought that the reluctance of pros to use different rackets depending on conditions, the particular opponents they face and how they feel on a given day, is due more to superstition or a bad tradition than anything else. The usual argument I hear about not using multiple rackets is that the pro's game is finely tuned to a given racket. But judging from all the post-match interviews I've heard no pro plays the same each time he or she goes out on the court and the range of styles their opponents present them is very wide indeed. Maybe you could offer some real insight into this issue?

Comparing the Vcore 98 to the Ezone Tour of course they will feel different because the balance points are significantly different and the Tour is 10grams heavier.The Tour is significantly more head heavy which is why it's harder to swing and slower to come through. A better comparison would have been to the regular Ezone 98 since the balance point is almost the same as the Vcore.

I have the ezone 98 normal which i customised and added 20 grams, mostly in throat and but cap to lower the balance point and have a more equal distribution of weight. This improves the racket drastically in controllability as well as manouverability. I'm thinking to add a vcore 95 to my bag. I'm actually a former head speed pro 18x20 player, before i transitioned to the ezone after a side step of the Wilson clash 100 and vcore pro 97. I have a clash 98 as backup for my bad days

I hit two handed from both sides and play mostly doubles now as am in my early 50's. Try to hit once a week with high level 4.5 buddy in addition to mixed. Hit two handed more like a Johnny Wang swing who you have played against obviously. Had hand surgery and switched from a Head Speed to the Babolat for many years now but need an upgrade to something now. Groundstrokes and returns and net play are more important for me as I don't have a huge serve. Just hard to find something that has it all. Since I have played with the 100 now not sure how a 98 would be. Any advice greatly appreciated. Great channel you and Gui have here. Obrigado.

I think the 98 would be good for you. It won’t be that big of a difference between that and the 100. Easy racket to play with, definitely worth trying it out

Happy new year Karue! So have you fully committed to the Ezone tour? Would you ever go back to the Head speed? Cheers!

I swear the Pro Staff 85 I used to play did NOT flex! I stay away from kevlar...I want a smoother feel than when I was in college but still prefer a heavier stick. IMO, they are more stable for volleys and more power and depth shots.

Felt the same about the ezone tour, while it’s stable it felt sluggish, and for a racquet shape that is designed to cut through the air... it was slow. I much prefer the standard ezone 98 but add a leather grip and maybe a little weight in the handle for a fast swinging racquet with the same plush but confident feel
@Karue-Sell

Agreed. It doesn’t cut through the air at all

The weights seem to show on your forehands. You tend to push more forward on the ezone before stepping in.

Is VCORE 98/95 2021 a real racket? After swinging with both, it reminded me of the junior or even kids under 10y rackets. How can anyone play with these toy rackets is beyond me...

I use a one handed backhand and I’m trying to decide between the ezone tour or the vcore 95, are you going to make a comparison video? And thoughts on the difference between the new 95 vs the ezone tour

I would think that a more HL balance and a smaller hoop would suit a OHBH better, so the Vcore 95 appears a more natural choice there. The Ezone Tour will probably feel a bit sluggish and difficult to move around with a OHBH.

I totally value your opinion but I want to share with you something a little different which I know you can shed some light on. Why does the Vcore 98 feel a lot lighter than the Vcore 100 when they both weigh same exact weight?

I think the new VCORE is more comparable from a power/weight class to the Bab Pure Strike 3rd 16x19? Don’t you think so?

BTW...why do guys wear high sock? I hate that feeling up my leg and more material=hotter! I wear low cut so I don't get wierd tan lines and I feel light and cooler legs. I like headband over a cap too.

I have the Vcore and I really like it; however, I made a mistake in buying one with 4 1/8 grip instead of 4'0 grip. I would like to trade it but I'm not sure if I will be able to do that. I'll figure something out though.

Hey there Tennis HQ! Really helpful review as always, been watching your videos for a while now. I'm an all court intermediate player who is yet to decide between the Yonex ezone tour, Vcore pro 97 (310) and the upcoming Vcore 98 (305). I currently have a pure strike 100 (3rd gen) and I'm looking for something slightly heavier which will offer more plough through and pop on my ground strokes, as I tend to be pushed around with my current racket by stronger racket opponents due to its lower weight and pop. I am still a developing player so I would like to get a racket which would not only suit my aggressive baseline gamestyle but also be suitable for when my level becomes more advanced. I am strong enough and can create my own power, although my technique might not be perfect. I'm leaning towards the new Vcore 98 because it seems much more refined than the previous one. What do you think? I'd love to hear your comments Tennis HQ, thank you very much keep up the good work!

Red tones is very strange...not liking it yet. My blue Bab Roddick is still the best color! I tested everything when I decided on the Babolat, but I need to test all these new models that sounds too gud to be true!

Hi T-HQ! I know you were using Lynx Tour, which is one of my go-to string, in this review. I was thinking if you use a more control oriented string on vcore98, like solinco confidential, would that solve the problem of overhitting the ball? I’m a 4.0 player switching from vcore pro 97hd to the new vcore 98.
@userdjee834
@userdjee834 4 жыл бұрын
hi, lynx tour is completely a control string, however you swing, and even off center hits, it still dips in, even well used and looser strings. confidential is very comparable with it, it gives slightly more power than lynx tour. both are great strings
@Rick-ou6wy
@Rick-ou6wy 4 жыл бұрын
@@userdjee834 I’ve used both for more than 30 hours each. Lynx tour feels a lot more comfortable than confidential, and provides better power and ball pocketing, but the confidential definitely has edge on control over Lynx Tour.
@Rick-ou6wy
@Rick-ou6wy 4 жыл бұрын
@@userdjee834 agree both are great. I bought a whole reel of confidential considering I’m switching into a more power and spin racquet (vcore98) , but still have a few packets of Lynx Tour in my bag.

@Rick-ou6wy
@Rick-ou6wy 4 жыл бұрын
@@userdjee834 Their durability are all good, more than 16 hours of hard-hitting for sure. In my 97HD, I strung Lynx tour at 53 or 54, considering the liveliness of the string, and confidential at 51/ 52 since they are a little more stiff.
